Glad to see you back Willy, this is a lovely car, debated between one of these or a b8.5 S4, went with the Audi but these 7.5 are perfect when done right, like this one.
I will definitely be killed after upcoming words but here we go: Third Gen Ea888 are modern 2JZ incarnation. I know that you are not able to put so much power like in 2JZ but easy of use and cost of achiving 550+ HP are kind of compensation. You are giving up sound and 1000+ HP in places of costs, easy of use and high reliability even on big boost.
Although I would give the modern 2J award to BMWs inline-6s, I definitely agree. The Gen3 EA888 punches wayy above it's weight and is such a good powertrain. Very reliable, makes great torque everywhere and doesn't break the bank. Amazing platform
I wouldn’t equate it to a 2jz, that title goes to the BMW turbo I6, however it’s definitely at the top of the “warmed up” turbo 4’s. Especially the mk8 evo motors.
@@maxwell5428 I understand that capabilities of B58 is kind of similar to 2JZ in regards of power. But my main point here is that EA888 is very „down to earth”! Maybe not so thrilling but still can aquire power very easily.
5:48-5:57 False. This is what most IS20 guys think, but its actually way off incorrect. As a 6spd manual IS38 MK7 GTI owner, who is custom tuned, the turbo will start boosting at around 2650rpm's and reach full boost by 2900rpm's. This can also be adjusted per you tuner, who has the ability to do boost by gear. Tell hm what you want and he will tune it that way. Yes, the IS20 boosts quicker, but the IS38 boosting before 3000rpm's is very daily-driveable. You do not have long boost threshold issues with the IS38. Stop reading into IS20 forum member comments lol
Wow it's been a while.. how's OG Social? I was going to get a used MK7.5, as my daily. But I went with a used 2019 Arteon SEL 4M. It was about the same price as the GTI lol. Put some mods on it, which included the Neuspeed Power Module. It was awesome to drive. I eventually got a 2023 Arteon SEL R-Line4M. I have some Racingline goodies that will be installed soon. Adult Golf R really.
Had MK 7 and 7.5 R. Sold.them both very quickly. They just can’t get a manual transmission right. I know a lot of people love the DCT, but that is not my thing.
@elaironen8592 394hp/448tq is what is claimed by IE. Whether that's dyno proven or not, IDK. But that would be a pretty dumb thing to boldly lie about on their website, given it can be easily fact checked on a dyno
@@cameronpino6943 that is definitely not dyno proven in whp terms. An IS38 on e85 hardly hits 400whp, so why would an IS20? Lol. If anything, IE is claiming those numbers as crank hp, not wheel hp, which would make more sense because that would put the IS20's whp, with IE Stage 2 on E85, around 358, which make a lot more sense. A plain IS38 OTS tune on 91oct is around 340-350whp, so it makes sense the IS20 on E85 is around that same number. Also, I would love to see those tq numbers on a OTS IE Stage 2 E85 tune. IS38 doesn't even reach those tq numbers period!
Facts. I had a friend who also was IS20 Stage 2 on E85 with his MK7 GTI who claimed 400hp. So we raced. I have an IS38 MK7 GTI custom tuned on WMI. I even used my 87oct file when I raced him, and this file only makes like 350whp using the WMI. Well, I pulled on him and was a bus length ahead at 100mph. Yeah, he stopped claiming 400hp after that lol.
@tjprovo24 Custom tuned, is38, AND WMI will always walk an is20.. lol especially dependant on potential other external factors, DSG/Manual, as well as driver mods. I don't think that portrays whether IE accurately depicts their numbers. This scenario seems more like the unknown variable is how much power the is38, custom tuned, WMI car is making. Probably more than you think
@tjprovo24 however, this does make me want to test the theory and set up a dyno run for science! A shop down the street has one, so I might see if I can get a couple pulls on there and find out! Haha I'll report back!

8:30 Integrated Engineering intake just like on my GTI Clubsport MK7! 👍

So dope. I almost bought his wheels off him, love them in the sunlight! Wild I’m learning how similar our cars are. Love my KW Street Comfort coils
Shouldn't have slept! Lol
Sick GTI build! I like what he did with it. And dope rolling shots at the end with your green GTI!

I got a mk7 golf r manual with a stage 2 clutch and I’m looking to do some more but how did you make the car sounds like a dsg with a manual?

@jbdoingjbstuff they are kinda sloppy and mushy for sure. The Coolerworx in mine fixed every piece of that. Makes you enjoy every shift
Is20 even on e85 isn’t 400hp

ie stage 2 makes like 320 wheel
You wanted type r, you bought gti 😅😅😅
For all the potholes, you buy the type-r as a sadomaschosist... 😂
Guess who’s back😎 great review, per usual.
Bad little unit right there !
