I have this whole show on DVD for years. Loved the part where Danzig made a public service announcement about the car across the street leaving their lights on..
ive actually heard from Bobby Steele himself (hed have no reason to lie in Danzigs credit see teenagers from mars live for reason why) that Danzig actually wrote every Misfits song and directed the members what to play or his "ideas" so to speak. Usually while watching old horror flicks on his projector at his moms house.....good shit
@@seanB81sure everyone knows this now…but 15 years ago was a different time, and getting reliable information was not the same easy task as it is now. Nowadays everything is cataloged neatly for anyone to find. Not so much back then. The dude says he talked to Bobby S, that’s rather unique on it’s own.
This was originally supposed to be a Misfits song. They rehearsed it but never played it live or recorded it. The Initium recording of it has Glenn on guitar, drums, and vocals and Eerie Von on bass. Fun Fact: the song Mephisto Waltz on Misfits Collection 2 was never played by them and only features one Misfit. Glenn did the guitar and vocals but Eerie Von played bass and they used a drum machine. It was supposed to be a Samhain song but Glenn used it as filler material on the Misfits album.
I was at this show at the Rock Hotel. I remember Danzig goading the audience several times saying, "You want to hear a fast one? Well, here's another slow one..." Then eventually they played "All Hell Breaks Loose" and I thought Lyle Preslar was going to burst into flames. He was great but hilariously out of sync with the aesthetic of the rest of the group. It was a good show though.
Heaven sends me here to you And if you fear you've reason to Open up all seven seals The beast is come to claim the youth Archangel, archangel Defiant brood, defiant brood I call on you Casted down my brethren Rebels from authority Power, pride, contempt and lust All these things I give to you Archangel, archangel Defiant brood, defiant brood I call on you I am not your son of God The prince of light will show no fear Mine is that which rules this world The beast is come, I am the end Archangel, archangel And when they cast out the brood For the sin of pride misused And when they cast down to hell Fucking brood Archangel, archangel Heaven sends me here to you And if you fear you've reason to Open up all seven seals The beast is come to claim the youth Archangel, archangel Archangel, archangel
And Come to think of it technically Samhain is Danzig. When he confronted Rick Rubin Glenn changed the bands name to his sur name. And the last line up of Samhain (besides drummer Chuck Biscuits) was the same as the first line up of Danzig.
I'd like to see some sources for that statement. Manny Martinez played drums on the cough/cool single, and jerry did the bass on it.. Glenn did the rest.. wich is keyboards and vocals..
@allaboutdatGDA The correct pronounciation is "sow-win" but the BAND'S NAME is pronounced "sam-hane" for the sake of simplicity (especially in america) Even Danzig uses this pronounciation as well.
yes, but not on archangel.. archangel was a song Glenn had worked on for some years, there's one demoversion from the misfits-era with Jerry on bass aswell..
argh, that garbled digital sound is louder than the actual music! Very distracting... Still, cool video... Thanks for sharing! And yeah, the solo sounds really cool in this live version, even if the whole song is pretty slow by comparison.
Glenn played drums on that one in the studio if I'm not mistaken.. the tempo wavers back and forth on it, it's terrible.. he wasnt a drummer, that's for sure.
I'm glad this ended up being a Samhain song. I heard Glenn wrote this for Dave Vanian? Why? F Him. The Damned doesn't deserve to have this awesome song.
yes that's true. Franché Cóma said that he pretty much told everyone how to play.. but if you listen to the "who killed marilyn" 7" Glenn plays all the instruments, doesn't sound too good.. the tempo goes back and forth, even worse than on archangel.. still good songs though.. there are some recordings of who killed marilyn and spook city usa with bobby steele and joey image instead and that recording sounds great.
I have this whole show on DVD for years. Loved the part where Danzig made a public service announcement about the car across the street leaving their lights on..
Apparently Glenn’s also huge on wearing your seatbelt when you’re in a car lol
dude, do you still have the DVD?

Yep, Danzig wrote everything for all of his bands and basically directed everyone else on how to play the parts.
Everyone knows this. Doyle said it. All his band mates have said it.

I can get enough of the sound of this version, just beautiful.
I was at this gig
siempre va ser grande samhain
He also played guitar on Macabre at this show. Anyone notice that glenn is on rythm and Lyle is on lead. Pretty cool.
This is RAD!! So rad that I had to scope the channel out and theres so much other rad stuff!!....
Got my like n sub!🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘😎
Kinda cool to hear them play it slower like the album version, because they usually sped it up live.

I heard it was supposed to be a song for The Damned but Dave Vanian never bothered to record it. It doesn't sound like the Misfits at all
In an interview, Glenn brought it to the band during a rehearsal and they trashed on it so he didn’t use it.
Bloodfeast and Death Comes Ripping were supposed to be Samhain songs as well, but ended up as Misfits.
it was recorded by glenn and jerry as a demo but was never touched by dave. when dave never used it, danzig brought it to samhain

i'd like to see this lineup w/ Lyle play some of the older, intended Samhain songs like Bloodfeast or Death Comes Ripping.
sounds like somebody is scratching turntables. lol
he played guitar at the stardust ballroom. it's a good video, too. he rips the e string right out.
He also played guitar on Macabre at this show.
I beleive lyle pressler from "Minor THREAT" is playing the other guitar @ this show I think it was at the rock hotel
is it me or is version like new wave like , something like new order or physchedilc furs type
WOW!!!!!!
nice sound for archangel compared to the album version.. glen on guitar is what rocks
Heaven sends me here to you
And if you fear you've reason to
Open up all seven seals
The beast is come to claim the youth
Archangel, archangel
Defiant brood, defiant brood
I call on you
Casted down my brethren
Rebels from authority
Power, pride, contempt and lust
All these things I give to you
Archangel, archangel
Defiant brood, defiant brood
I call on you
I am not your son of God
The prince of light will show no fear
Mine is that which rules this world
The beast is come, I am the end
Archangel, archangel
And when they cast out the brood
For the sin of pride misused
And when they cast down to hell
Fucking brood
Archangel, archangel
Heaven sends me here to you
And if you fear you've reason to
Open up all seven seals
The beast is come to claim the youth
Archangel, archangel
Archangel, archangel
IT's true. Glenn never did this live before, exept now. Amazing.

it's me or i listen a duck everysecond?
I'd like to see some sources for that statement. Manny Martinez played drums on the cough/cool single, and jerry did the bass on it.. Glenn did the rest.. wich is keyboards and vocals..
and he wrote the music!
Is this off the Samhain Boxset VHS? I still haven't gotten around to watching that.
@misterdesade nooo I mean the axe guitar Danzig uses in another live vid of them playing archangel.
Dude can play any instrument... 777
@misterdesade Obviously the same guitar, I just meant that Les Pauls obviously weren't the only guitars Danzig used lol sorry, I'm slow today.
awesome! Does anyone has a better version? Sound is not bad, but there is a "noise! " :(
1984
argh, that garbled digital sound is louder than the actual music! Very distracting...
Still, cool video... Thanks for sharing!

Its rare to see glen play guitar on stage.
Glenn played drums on that one in the studio if I'm not mistaken.. the tempo wavers back and forth on it, it's terrible.. he wasnt a drummer, that's for sure.
i loooove this version of this song. Better than the album version hands down. Why didn't they do it this way in the studio?
138 likes, ha
actually its pronounced Sow win. not sewing. Erie von is fuckin cool man.
you can usually tell how good one of danzig's bands is by measuring the circumference of his bicep. the large it is, the shittier the band.
least favorite samhain song, but still fucking sick.
this is the best thing I've seen in a long time.
death rock actually
@brpadington its cause hes not that great at guitar, see the stardust ballroom performance and the danzig home video for more.
been a fan since 88, never seen a video like this!!! Espically Glenn playing guitar!!!!!!!!
Love ❤️ All Glenn’s Bands 🤘🏻
I'm glad this ended up being a Samhain song. I heard Glenn wrote this for Dave Vanian? Why? F Him. The Damned doesn't deserve to have this awesome song.
😍
This song was written for Dave Vanian initially
Initiumly
luv it😈
Even the bird loved this song ❤️
yes that's true.
Not all of them, but he does play Guitar, bass, piano, keyboards, harmonica, and drums.
@brpadington Except he did almost every other Samhain show till 85.
@FlamingCannibal jerry wrote all the new stuff
I thought steve zing did their drums???
The solo actually sounds like bagpipes.
@misterdesade what about the axe guitar? lol
I guess Glenn kicked Lyle off the stage and took his guitar...
there's two bass guitars
danzig likes to play guitar while singing this song live
