    Being common magic items, the medals are *very* compelling picks for an Artificer's Replicate Magic Item infusion

    So Ruidium is a red corrupted magical material? Kind of like a red, TAINTED version of Residuum?
    Between this and the "Shade Mother" from the recent episodes, I feel like Matt has been playing the Dragon Age franchise recently.

    I like that halflings are less likely to be corrupted by ruidium since they can reroll 1s. It feels inspired by the corruption resistance hobbits have against the one ring.

    New magic items are always good. Since there were two for stat help, I was expecting one for each. Maybe they need to bring back spells like bull's strength to help with the off balanced parties.
    On a side note, does DnD have any official adventure\campaign which focuses on the Shadowfell? I know we just got one for the Feywild so it would make sense to eventually have one for the Shadowfell.

    New magic item idea, name stolen from Ted. Bandolier of Medals: A masterwork, leather strap, worn slung from one shoulder to the opposite hip, containing slots to hold up to 12 medals of a single type. The bandolier is infused with the same type of magic as the medals, but does not benefit the wearer. Instead, once per day, the wearer may perform a ritual that takes 1 hour, which includes rubbing the leather with a 100gp vial of (insert campaign appropriate creature here) oil and removing a single stitch from the bandolier. Doing so will re-enchant any spent medals of the appropriate type held in the bandolier. Once 20 stitches have been removed in this fashion, the bandolier loses all of its magical properties, though any charged medals held in its slots will still function normally.
    Feel free to steal this idea, and let me know if it needs any changes. 🤠👍

    As a Japanese, Matt Mercer's world-relevant items like Ruidium corruptions or Vestiges of Divergence always makes me feel something familiar in a Tolkienian high fantasy world, a something still alien in our culture.
    Maybe it's something he picked up throughout his career of dubbing Japanese media or even before then.

  • @moonlight2870

    I'm gonna be honest the ruidium items, especially the armor and shield, the tradeoff doesn't seem very worthwhile. Like, I'm getting resistance to a very uncommon damage type and a very situational movement buff, but I'm risking getting multiple levels of exhaustion and a forever curse? No thanks. Once again, the matt mercer school of "things need drawbacks" does not work for me. Of course, in this module psychic damage and underwater traveling will most likely be more common. But the itens don't exist in a void.

    • @WD_Gaster66
      @WD_Gaster66 2 года назад

      The thing is that, as you said the Ruidium stuff is made pretty much for that module, that's why it can go inert in the first place. And if playing that module, most everything is going to be underwater and psychic based so of course you'd trade one of your armor pieces for something that lets you do actual battle underwater
