- 2020 C8 Corvette exhaust options. Black c8 has Fabspeed cat back exhaust, and silver C8 has just the Soul Performance cats. Both options sound good but are quite different. Let me know what you think!
Fabspeed definitely gives it that more exotic sound ...all sound sick but for me the fab speed is the one !!!
This definitely helped me make the choice for my C8. HIGH FLOW CATS !
💯 Agree! High Flow for the win!
Dude the silver sounds sick.
Ordered my Soul Sport Cats ( a little wait time) but will be ready for spring. I think it's the best bang for the buck.
Have you gotten ur soul sport cats yet?
I like when the C8 Corvette sounds deep, it makes it come off as a little more exotic in a way.
Much needed.. great video. I'm sure this will help many future C8 owners.
thanks...
So many diffrent videos on exhaust.but no one compared the sounds.i waited months but today After hearing this video i just bought the soul for my c8. the pops were awsome. thanks for helping me decide.
Thank you so much for your support! We're glad to be a part of your build! - Mike
GREAT VIDEO, IM ORDERING A 2022 C8 AND WAS LOOKING FOR A VIDEO LIKE THIS
Love that Elkhart Lake blue! All sound good
Thanks!
Thanks for this informative video. It’s crazy how much louder the stock exhaust is from that cat-back system. But the cat-back does sound more refined for sure. The high flow cats are definitely louder and I like the way they accentuate everything from the stock exhaust.
What's up Mike! I've watched alot of your videos! No prob. My buddy with the black C8 with the fabspeed exhaust just ordered headers and cats as well. Can't wait to hear what that sounds like. video coming as soon as possible. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@jrock702 Hey man, no problem. That’s cool, I’ll be sure to check that out too.
They all sound good but I’m leaning towards the black car for best sounding my opinion. Without driving the cars the black one seems to have the best all around sound that I like.
It really is a personal preference thing. I own the silver car, but I still like the black car. If you want a tight lower tone, the cat back sounds great.
They both have positive attributes but are quite different. Would love to hear the combination of cats and cat back exhaust... That might actually be the winner...
@@paulcodi2747 ya I like them all but on video the black one seemed a little more mellow. But kept the good sounds the stock has. Maybe in person I would change my mind too. Sometimes cameras don’t pic up and play back threw phones great. But I love all 3 cars gotta get a c8 someday.
@@underfedcoyote5.022 actually, the black car with the fabspeed cat back system sounds way different than the stock. It is way deeper and louder and more smooth sounding. No cracks pops or left and right exhaust cycling. It is more mellow, but does drone a drop in the cabin in 3rd gear at around 2500 at load. The car backs sound more like stock but 50% louder and more exaggerated raspy growl.
While the systems all sound great, the component differences are both unique in changing the sound in their own way. A High-Flow catalytic converter will change the sound differently than a Cat-Back exhaust, which was the point of this video. But it's almost like comparing apples to oranges and asking "which tastes better?"
Stock exhaust is good way better than a lot of other cars stock. Fabspeed sounds super clean almost too clean. The high flow cats are right on the edge of raspy. Picking an exhaust for this car has been a challenge to say the least. Great video and comparisons it will help further my decision for sure.
I too am going to go with the cast-back system after hearing this vlog. Thanks for the very helpful information.
You're welcome!
Brooooooo! I have been waiting for a comparison video! Great commentary at the end to tie it all together! Cheers!
Thanks man!
same to i wanted know if the one streetspeed had or 650ib has is louder
Thank you for making this video! Sport Cats are the way to go if you're after power and response gains with an overall increase in volume. We're looking forward to launching our Valved Exhaust very soon to offer two great sound modes as well. If you're interested in working together, let us know! -Mike
Love my Cats Mike, great job making them. Zero issues with install or after. Have about 750 miles on them and very happy. Jason will reach out to you this week.
FYI - This video was more about exhaust sound. I did notice a better throttle response. But I think I would notice more power if I opened up the pipe size behind it.
Hey, Mike I will be reaching out to you shortly. Your hi flow cats amazing!
@@jrock702 temptation thought you was going to stay stock! Haha soul I had my eyes on ever since they made those sport cats. Not only raspy beautiful sound but power gains best bang for the buck. Compare to fab speed your $2-3K atleast.
@@jrock702 thank you! Glad to hear it! -Mike
Soul soul soul hands down
I agree soul
Thank you! - Mike
@@SoulPerformanceProducts very interested in working with you guys. Had the pleasure of meeting jrock few months back did some content with him. Your cats is in my future
@@shononato thank you for considering us, we're ready when you are! - Mike
I would agree with the soul because it sounds amazing!
Hey great video sir!!! The soul sound amazing that’s now that’s the sounds I’m looking for!! My only problem is that I hope it doesn’t void factory warranty when you switch out the cats?? Please tell me no 😂😂
Swapping out the cats shouldn't void the warranty. I would check with your local dealer just to be sure though. However, some states require smog tests and are stricter than others. I would look into that as well.
@@jrock702 thanks a lot!
Great comparison. I know this is all about personal taste but I liked the sound of the performance cats over the cat back/xpipe. But they all sounded great so we're really splitting hairs here. My HTC was built 1 Dec so I'm just waiting on delivery but will go down one of these paths myself in a few months. Excellent comparison!
Just got word my C8 coupe was build dec. 2nd. So hopefully within 2-3weeks from now I should be getting my C8
Good video. Thanks for letting me play. Fabspeed if you're out there I need the hook up on some high flow sport cats.
lol...
We're here and ready to help! :) -Mike
@@SoulPerformanceProducts Message me Mike and I'll give you my shipping address for a set of pro bono race cats.
Comparing CAT-back to Sport CATs is apples to oranges, I have Fabspeed CAT Bypass and their Valvetronic system and the sound is beyond that of any other manufacturer. Check Out @Gabe.design on insta, his Fabspeed equipped C8 is arguably the most famous in the US.
True. People do like hearing different sound options though. I will check your link out.
@@jrock702 I mean, yea. People do like comparisons if you are comparing the same product from two different manufacturers. Comparing two completely different things doesn't provide any helpful info. Should check out some videos of both manufacturers' Sport CATs if you want to find out which is the best option.
Well, If I ever run into another person with a different cat back exhaust or a different set of cats I will do an exact comparison. Hopefully more videos to come on this topic soon. Kinda out of my control though. Thanks for watching!
@@FabspeedJohn Wrong dude. It is GREAT to compare the C8 with pure custom exhaust vs custom CATS.
Love the blue ones cackle but the black one sounds AMAZING!!!! 👌
Thank you so much. I've been trying to decide between the two. Whole time I'm watching I'm thinking they better do a drive-by and you did.
Your welcome... First impression I think I like the soul performance cats better than the fabspeed cat back. I did drive both but had limited time behind the wheel. They both had unique characteristics with the type of sound and volume.
HIGH flow cat Vette sounds the best!
The Fabspeed sounds more refined while the Soul Performance cats absolutely rips.
They ALL sound on, to me.🤷🏾♂️
Different, but good. All.👍🏿
This is great. I have been hoping someone would do this. Now I know exactly what I want. Well done!
1.Black w/ Fab Speed
2.Blue Stock GM
3.Grey Soul high flows.
Might have a different opinion in person. Bet the high flows combine with the Fab Speed would be primo.
GM did a pretty good job.
stock is fine with me, i'm not trying to wake up my whole neighborhood
I hear you. I can appreciate the sound of a good exhaust... I feel the stock C8 exhaust sounds pretty good already though. I'm in no hurry to make a decision.
i own c8 2021 had it few weeks. yes the exhaust nots is a bit muted especially low rpm but it still sounds very good and im getting older anyways who wants loud sloppy ass sound
Silver C8 w/ Soul high flow cats...all day long.
Did an amazing job, thanks fellas!
you're welcome! thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Love the cat back deep sound but don't want to loose the original sqare tips. I think the next best thing is the soul performance but all 3 sound great to me
Great job Jason!
Thanks man!
@@jrock702 great video
Soul for the win! I have soul cats and soul valved sport exhaust coming in a few weeks!
Nice! I would love to hear how this combo sounds in person.
Best vid on the this subject!👌🏻- do these other guys have a RUclips channel?
Thanks! No, they dont have youtube channels. Let me know if you have any questions about any of their mods. More content with their cars and mods should be coming to my channel soon!
I hope to be contributing more here to Jrock702. Thanks for watching!
Fabspeed cat backs for me! Sounds awesome!
Sounds awesome
Both options had unique characteristics. I wonder what both mods together would sound like... Good chance it would be too loud for me though....
Good work! Good way to really tell the difference.
thanks man!
Hard to really get sound through $20 speakers, but I think the stock exhaust is actually an X Pipe just covered up by the muffler case.
Great video. Honestly, the stock exhaust does not sound too bad. But overall they all sound really good. I ordered mine with Z51 performance which will have the stock one that you have, and this gives me a good idea if I want to change in the future. Thanks bro.
Thanks man! Yeah, gonna keep my car stock. I wish the stock performance exhaust was a bit louder but don't feel the need to spend the extra money to upgrade.
Black sounds the best
Silver for the win all categories lol
Sports cats for sure. Stock exhaust sounds good but too muffled.
Those rims on the silver car are the bomb.com
Thanks man, I love them.
@@paulcodi2747 can i get the name please?
first time here, good show, Subscribed
Thanks man! Appreciate it...
I prefer the sound profile of the Fabspeed but I don't like the look of their muffler. The Soul is vicious and pretty intense for a street car.
Soul definitely sounds more aggressive. Fabspeed and Soul are very quiet though. Catless downpipes are definitely needed..
Thanks for the video. The factory exhaust actually sounds way better than I thought they would given the chatter. It would be nice to have the factory performance exhaust option in the mix too. I do like the fab speed the best (better blend and smoother than S.P Cats IMO) but with dyno (if necessary) not sure of cost/benefit over the factory performance exhaust option.
Your welcome! it's a tough pill to swallow as far as the cost/benefit considering that I'm pretty happy with the way the car sounds stock.
Great video thanks for sharing the difference
Thanks!
Great video. I really like the fab-speed. Any issues with heat in the rear of the car with these systems?
When i put my souls on they brought a turbo type blanket for the heat.sound perfect what the car chould of sounded like from factory.
@@c8miamicarclub any CEL?
@@dmraco no issues less heat because they come with a turbo blanket
i Love the Fabspeed!!!! geat video!!!!
The black Vette sounds the best to me.
The soul at idle and rev has more of a exhaust leak kind of rasp. The cat back has a very clean sound. I go for the cat. But its hard to tell how loud the cat is over stock.
at idle and wide open throttle soul is a decent amount louder. sounds really good and aggressive without be ridiculous. cruising at low rpm almost as quiet as stock. check out chevydude on youtube for decibel levels for soul.
Fantastic video demonstrating exhaust systems. I picked up my 2021 C8 January the 10th and haven't driven it much due to Utah's Rocky Mountain snow. Now it is beginning to look like Summer is finally here and I know I want to upgrade my stock exhaust but not sure which one to go with. There are so many options out there. I like the one guy's comment about it would be interesting to see and hear a combination of the Cat-Back and the Soul Performance. I think the Soul Performance is just a bit too much raw sound and the Cat-Back is a bit too mellow. I would love to see and hear a combination of both for my car. I must admit, the sound (even if it is a bit raw) of the Soul Performance is more of what I would go with. I do like the idea of keeping the on and off option loud and softer as in the stock exhaust system...for my neighbor's sake. Any suggestions other than that which you have demonstrated? Also, can you provide cost options on the two systems used in your video?
Thanks for the perfect demonstration vid...just at the right time also.
Jeff in Utah
Thanks. Soul performance high flow cats $2,895 plus installation charges. Fabspeed non valved system with carbon tips like the one on the black car $3,395 plus install charges. If you want the valved system with carbon tips it's $3,995 plus install charges. My buddy with the black c8 with theFabspeed cat back exhaust (non valved) in the video just had AWE headers and Fabspeed cats just installed the other day. Exited to hear what a complete system sounds like in person and may be shooting a video comparing it to my stock c8 tomorrow. Stay tuned! Hmm, you might want to check out Corsa. NPP with performance cats FTW
They both sound great but the system from LMR sounds the best
Haven't heard the LMR system yet.... Big fan of their shop though. So many options to choose from out there...
@@jrock702 the very early streetspeed717 video before he got his twin turbos on it you can hear the LMR system or I believe late model racecraft RUclips channel has a couple videos. It's a video from six months ago with a red C8 I believe it is tagged LMR full custom exhaust
X Pipe sounds like a supercar, but not really a Corvette. I think it proves Chevy got the stock exhaust note right. But the round tips DEFINITELY are a huge improvement over those gross factory square tips.
I love my 2020 Corvette stingray spider with 3LT Z-51 package🔥 content coming on the channel
With this car
Nice!
I was all for soul but after hearing corsa I am sold just waiting for the release and price.
I've had a couple of corsa systems on other cars... I was always very happy with them. Haven't heard the corsa for the C8 yet...
Sounds amazing can't miss it they have video of the C8 it's a orange one check it out on here

Any check engine lights with the soul performance cats installed?
No check engine light for the soul performance cats when i drove it. Wasn't my car though. I'm pretty sure he had no issues after the install.
Soul Performance cats...
Fab speed sounds the best.
Great video awsome
Any cell lights from soul
no codes being thrown or check engine light on the Soul performance cats. Awesome product!!!
What shop in LV did you use. Looking to get the Soul Sport Cats for mine
My car was the stock blue C8. The other 2 C8's with the aftermarket exhaust and the high flow cats were done by Trophy Performance here in Vegas. They generally specialize in Porche but have done work on quite a few C8's.
jrock702 that’s great, they do the work on my NSX . Exceptional people and they have track events at Spring Mountain.
The prettiest of the three C8s in the opening shot is the Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic and no I didn’t just say that because my C8 is the same color but it is. The other two look blah to me!
Love the Elkhart Lake Blue... My favorite color so far. Glad I chose it. I was all over the place in the beginning when ordering. torch red, Orange, Ceramic matrix gray.... Finally settled on Elkhart lake blue. It just works so well with the C8...
If you see ceramic matrix gray in person you gone love it. Trust me i have the Sebring Orange, but man that metrix is something else in person
Is there any power loss? Between the two? Or power gains? Where they tuned after install? Any check engine light issues?
Very informative video. Which one did you prefer?
Geez... The fabspeed exhaust has more of a drone between 2k-3k which goes away above 3k. Not sure if I like that or not. The soul performance cats have more volume at higher rpm and a very raw distinct sound. Also the cracks on aggressive upshifts with soul performance is awesome! Leaning more towards the soul performance cats for sure... Really would like to hear the soul performance cats and their valved catback system together when it comes out.
@@jrock702 my guy reached out to me. Dec 2nd my car was build. So within 2-3weeks wishful thinking hope I’ll have mines before the year ends
Any pricing info on their set ups? Liked the Vid!
And sub’ed

@@jrock702 thanks! Helps my planning, for that price the valved option might be the way forward
Any feedback on throttle response or noticeable horsepower increase?
The Soul Performance Cats are supposed to add a little horsepower and throttle response. I only drove the car for a few min... I can't say for sure that there was an increase of performance that can be felt. Sounded great though. The Fabspeed cat back sounded pretty good as well. Once again only drove that car a few min as well. No real performance gains I could tell. These mods are more about the sound in my opinion.
Great comparison video
Does your blue C8 have the stock exhaust or the z51 performance exhaust?
Deciding if I want the performance exhaust option or go stock and eventually change it in the future to an aftermarket system
My blue C8 has the performance exhaust. I like the NPP vavle system. If you have the NPP performance exhaust you get adjustable sound levels. Some aftermarket companies offer an exhaust that will work with this system if you like the option of contolling the sound level. Just something to think about. Thanks for watching!
Good video. How can you open the valves since the C8 doesn't have a button to open them? Or do you do that when in Sport/Track mode?
correct. sport mode or track mode exhaust is open. No real dedicated button for valves. Keep in mind you have to have the sport exhaust option for this. You can also program my mode or z mode with the valves open as well. If you get the z51 package you get the sport exhaust or you can order the sport exhaust by itself....
@@jrock702 I like the sound of the Soul Performance Cats. Do they give him an engine light?
@@moimoi4725 No check engine light with the soul performance cats. The exhaust sounds awesome with the high flow cats!!

Hey Do I have to get performance exhaust in order to upgrade the exhaust later aftermarket?
No you don't have to spend the $$ to get the NPP from the factory if you gone change it
Great video.... like awesome but sound not so much but that my opinion
Thanks!
I like yours better J!!
Thanks man!
Idk. Stock sounds the best to me.
I Just want loud
What exhaust is on black car.
How much louder is the Fabspeed Catback than stock? Let’s say for reference the stock c8 is about at a 5 on a scale from 1-10...make sense? Thx!
I would say on your scale for a stock c8 being a 5... Then I would say the fabspeed is 6-7 range. Not too loud at all. However, there is a little annoying drone at 2k-3krpm... It is really just something people have to experience first hand when it comes to exhaust volume and sound. Eagerly awaiting to here some other options out there from Corsa, LMR, and the new valved catback from Soul Performance which is almost ready to hit the market.
@@jrock702 appreciate your response! Very helpful
I think the beginning needs to be longer.....
HP gain with those? for the non-NPP from factory, is it quiet all the time or loud all the time?
Aftermarket exhaust/ cats will give you a more aggresive sound. Maybe 10-20 more Hp. We didn't dyno any of the cars before or after to verify though. even if so, it is not noticeable. Most people just do these mods for a sound difference. Exhaust mods are also sometimes used as supporting mods as well if you were to boost the car or add a heads and cam package. Then the car would need to be tuned though (not available currently) and then your warranty would be voided as well. I will most likely keep my car stock for now. Might possible do an exhaust in the future but honestly kinda feel it's not worth the money to do so. Time will tell.... Also non NPP from the factory is quite all the time with stock exhaust. Ordering NPP when getting a C8 is a must in my opinion unless you are going to change to aftermarcket exhaust for sure and like it loud all the time.
@@jrock702 Thanks a lot man that really helped. For 2021 or 2022 C8, any serious problems from the factory or anything? thanks
@@okaythen001 Some people have had problems with valve spring and transmission. I think theses are relatively small percentages though. I've had zero issues with mine and have 7k miles on it. I also know about 6 people with c8's and none of them have had problems either.
is that silver c8 the silver flare silver or the blade silver?
it's a 2020 blade silver....
One with aftermarket exhaust and x pipe sounds the worst - not worth the money-soul cats are the way to go. Most after market exhausts do not have proper heat shielding either-Borla cannot improve sound or heat shielding either-that is why they are still not offering a system yet after all this time.
cats and headers with stock exhaust sounds amazing.
