@@hassanjamal4212 The 1200 cylinder heads stick out sideways, the 800's are vertical, so the 1200 is much winder down lower. When it "falls" over, the first thing to hit the ground is the top of the cylinder (or guard outside of it). It's sort of that the bike leans sideways at an angle instead of turning 90 degrees flat on the ground. In very rough terms, it's the difference between a diamond that falls sideways, and a rectangle that flips on its side.

I can't tell you how many times I've had to prove my skills as a competent rider. Any fool can buy a Harley and drive it at freeway speeds but 90% use a 250 cc bike to pass the skill test to get the "M" endorsement on their DL. What I do to prepare starts a week in advance. First thing I do is turn up my idle by about 100 RPM so that in first gear I can idle along and not stall. Then I start doing figure 8 pattern at idle until I'm pegging the front end stop to stop. At that point your having to use your body weight to counter the bikes weight and all this is done at idle. I do this once or twice a day for about 15 minutes. I also run the course at the DMV a couple times including the day I test, this method gets my muscle memory ship shape for parking lot speeds. I also do stops where I don't put my feet down during normal driving to keep my low to no speed balance in top shape.
The last test I did in Petaluma Ca. involved a circle with an in and out path, the in & out path both have three cones you must not touch and or leave the narrow path or put your foot down as you enter the circle that you do twice before you navigate three more cones on exit. the trick is the extra 100 RPM so you don't stall while doing the test. The day came to do the test and by the time I "idled" in there were twenty big burley bikers standing around the circle as I approached I entered the circle weaving past the cones then two effortless laps and weaving through the exit cones I came to a full stop and deployed my kick stand as I stopped then leaned the bike on the stand with my feet on the pegs, turned the ignition off and dismounted the bike with my right foot finding the ground for the first time since I arrived. as I removed my gloves I looked at the others and said "Piece of cake" ! One of the guys said "you sure make it look easy" !

I've always been of the mindset on every vehicle, I'd rather have ABS on the front, and optional on the rear. Like if the rear tire(s) lock up, if the front tire(s) keep rolling, I can keep control of a vehicle better.

I took my first m/c riding/safety course in 1978. It was at a race track, and the classroom stuff ate up about half the day. In it an instructor asked...."Hey, a show of hands here: who likes to go really fast?!" Everybody puts up their arms, eagerly. Then he asks: "Hey, who here loves to panic stop/full lock?" NOBODY puts up their hands. Then he asks: "Who loves to go REALLY slow?" Again, nobody. Then he said...."Good. Because we're going to PRACTICE both.....because next to cornering, that is the hardest thing to do well." Part of that training was riding a m/c mounted in a "squirrel cage" w/ out-rigger wheels.....and going from 65mph to a full brake lock up. SCARY. But I was just as scared then of the SLOW speed maneuvers being taught, doing cones, minimum radius turns, etc.- in a parking lot- away from any/all traffic. It was all a MENTAL game.

I moved to the Mojave in 1986 .
My buddies bike flipped on the trailer and his 1982 650 Seca was converted into a dirt bike rear knobby included.
The headlight was made from a wok .
It doglegged bad . It was a Madmax bike for sure .
I would hit the desert with him on my maxim 550 .
We could climb hills dirt bikes wouldn't look at .
It was so much fun !
I wouldn't know how to ride a bike like that . At my age I would pull a muscle climbing on that tall unit .

My first and only bike was a 79 Goldwing GL1000. I was a 135lb 6' tall 15 year old. Absolutely zero experience operating a bike. I had ridden on the back of my dad's for years but that was it. I rode it until I turned 16 then traded it for a 75 Firebird.

Your only young once eh, just got to 'stretch' that 'once ' out as much as you can 😉

Heh it only took BMW 20 years to figure out that a heavy bike in the dirt might not act well if the front brake locks up & the rear brake won't? Meanwhile, us yankees have been setting up dirtbike brakes like that (softer in front) since 1970s.
Edit: I remember seeing ads with these big ol BMWs with knobby tires hauling butt through the trails & across shallow streams back in '92 or '93. Was amazed by the sheer size of em.

Growing up in Fla. Sand can really mess you up, "let it dance" lol, so true. We use to race on the stuff, even raced my xs400 against a buddies modded cr80 for motocross and beat him on his sand pit practice track.....when we finished, I said I'll never do that again, of all the things I've done on a bike , that was the most intense laps I've made. Ahh the ignorance "stupidity" of my youth.

This reminds me of the days when I treated my YZF600R and FZ1 like dirtbikes and if I didn't like street riding so much I would have put Conti TKC 80's on them and called it a day.
