- I don't use helium to weld often and if I do I use it on think aluminum. Not all welding supply stores carry this type of gas but if you can try it, I recommend it. Like all things in the shop please use all forms of safety while welding and do your research on using helium.

About Jimbo's Garage:
Jimbo's Garage is a channel to watch real metal, steel, welding and wood projects.
Hey Jimbo, Im a welding Instructor for a local tech highschool. I just wanted to let you know the students and i love watching your videos. Always great content much appreciated.
I agree. The repair looks fantastic and your aluminum welds make me envious, but I think making the end out of stainless might be more durable? Neat little project just the same. Happy New Year Jimbo!
Agree on the SS
Jimbo you need one of those little gizmos that turn your stuff while you're welding.,.. Another job well done...
Bonne Année 2023 de France un ancien de la Machine Spèciale
I agree, Jim. Helium is wonderful for jobs like this.
Happy New Year. Turned out very well. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God bless.
Dude! Stoked on your vids ,learning a lot.
your shop is on point
Nice job Jim, the only Helium I have used is in the dive tanks on 100m dives lol
nice vid
The material should have been beveled or setup for a corner weld to get full penetration. I would have used 3/8 material since the 1/4 failed a couple times. I enjoy your vids-thank you.
If this bracket is failing on a regular basis, a better design would probably be the way to go. Even resizing the bracket holder so a heavier gauge of aluminum could be used for both pieces might solve it.
A stainless piece that plugs into the end of that heavy wall aluminum tube would last forever.
Started buying helium for copper 2 years ago and tried it on aluminum and will never go back to argon.
Thanks for the video and info Jumbo. What was your cfh for both the argon and helium regulator?
What kind of settings do you need to adjust while running HE? What is the flow rate?
