Love this Would be so costly .... I would love to see a short ride that goes underwater... with an illusion of going “under the sea”. Hire professional mermaids (avoid slave work hours-rotating shifts, for safety) create a mix of real water and artificial environments (saving cost on the expense on water tanks).... Would love to experience such a thing
This looks like it would have been so fun to go on, but even if I had the chance I wouldn’t because I’m scared of being inside of anything underwater :(
This was a great ride, but it didn't have much to do with the movie version that Disney made. In the movie the sub never went under any ice caps or found Atlantis or the sea serpents and mermaids. Still it was a great ride, it would have been fun to scuba dive in it too.

Thanks for sharing this! I was too young to remember going on this so it is cool to see! My memories of it were just from the pictures I have.
No probs! I'm glad you enjoyed
The first time I went to Disney i was 5 and this was my favorite ride. I went back a few years later and was so bimmed ot wasn't there anymore. I was looking forward to go on it again. Thank you for posting now i can relive the nostalgia.
Its interesting to see what stuff was like before i was born
This was my favorite ride at WDW when I was little. I was so very disappointed when it closed.
With the camera steadily trained at the porthole, and hearing the little kids’ voices, this video is a real time capsule. 👍🏼
3:02 WAS THAT WINDOW CRACKED
I've always wondered what this ride looked like only ever having been on the one at Disneyland...this one was set up a little differently and the sea serpent had a really different head and face...very cool to see this!
Thanks for the throw back in time ! I remembered the first time I rode this ride, I felt a little claustic . After that, nope....lol . Thanks for sharing.....Rhino
I hear you on that. I rode the Nemo version in DL a couple years ago and it's a tight squeeze.
I have such fond memories of this ride! Thank you so much for sharing!
I remember the ride from my childhood; loved it so much that I wanted and eventually got their boardgame version
That was fun thx for bringing me back! To one of my most favored childhood memories!
This was my favorite as a child, it has stuck with me at 41 years of age!
Awesome vid. I love the narration! Thanks for uploading
No probs!
That looked very good for a 1991 dark ride though! And I love the 90's video eight quality, makes me feel nostalgic. Little anecdote: I was 11 back than and my uncle also had a camera. My nephew and I have made a lot of great "blockbusters" with it. 😆
I was 4 or 5 years old when I went on this ride in the early 90's. Not sure why the vague memory of looking out the window under the water popped into my head just now. I had to youtube search disney world submarine ride, heh
Thank you! I miss this ride so much!
Love this
Would be so costly ....
IIRC They tried the mermaid thing at Disneyland and they had to stop because of the subs' diesel fumes
This ride is still ingrained in my childhood memories.
That was neat, I rode this a 10 year old in ‘73, as a young’en this ride was Disney to me
This ride was great! I remember it being stuffy and claustrophobic, but really awesome!
This was Fantastic!🌊🐟🌊🐠 Love the Movie "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea"! I own 2 Copies...What an awesome Ride! The Nautilus was so beautiful!🌊🐚🌊🐙
Man, this brings back memories...
What a classic ride! I so wish Disney would of kept this ride, when I was a kid this ride scared us more than the Haunted Mansion!
I would've been too claustrophobic if I'd ridden it as an adult, but as a kid I loved it
Thank you for posting this. I wish I could have seen it myself. What a amazing ride..
No probs!
Mike Karschti joe did you even get this footage?
It’s from my family’s home movies. I used to watch this vhs of our WDW trip all the time when I was a kid
Mike Karschti that makes sense
This looks like it would have been so fun to go on, but even if I had the chance I wouldn’t because I’m scared of being inside of anything underwater :(
I miss this!!
This was a great ride, but it didn't have much to do with the movie version that Disney made. In the movie the sub never went under any ice caps or found Atlantis or the sea serpents and mermaids. Still it was a great ride, it would have been fun to scuba dive in it too.
I agree. Still a great ride
this was based on the same submarine voyage at Disneyland
Sadly, one thing that references the movie is that tedious organ music drowning out the narration.
Thanks Mike,Very Cool
No probs! Thanks for watching
Dang man, I don't know why the had to close the ride tho. I wanted to go there
It was a cool attraction for sure.
Shaggy but cmon. I mean. They’re disney. They have alot of money. They could atleast afford to try and built smthn close to this...
Nate they were actually skidding through almost bankruptcy at that point
I feel so bad for that sea serpent
that cute thing was left to rot and drained away..
I wanna hug it so bad
Why would you cut out this masterpiece of a ride, disney?? WHYyYyY
I was 2 when I first went to Disney World with my family, and I remember my mom pointing to the submarine in the water and telling me it's the Nautilus. We couldn't go on the ride since it was closed, but I do remember seeing it.
It was a amazing ride as a youngster. I'll always remember it!
I would seriously loved to have rode this ride. I remembered my mom watching this show as well.
I remember going on this ride with my mom, sister and grandparents.. yep.. I’m that old. 😁
I’m so glad I got to ride this, both in 1991 and again in 1996! It was so fun.
