I love how you segmented the video and gave it a warm and welcoming feeling. Overall, it was clear and concise! One minor constructive critique would be that you forgot to tell us if it is free or if one needs to pay for it, but besides that, great job, Ebi! :)
thanks for the comment!!! there is a free version but some features are paid. i think they’re working on it rn so the paid plans aren’t set in stone yet 🥹
Thank you, just DL this app and it's great. I use duo lingo but it only seems to help me learn random words and be able read some hiragana. Knowing what JLPT level you are will be helpful for me. 👍
I sent this to a friend in Feb & am now back for myself! I’ve been learning Norwegian via Duo for the last 4 years and I feel I’ve actually learned a lot! But. That’s a Germanic language. I taught myself some Japanese in college… 9 years ago… but I only knew of hellotalk at the time. I have a few good books too! I’m far enough into Norwegian now to consider taking on another language - Japanese it is! I love the language. This video is amazing!! Can’t wait to try these apps.
thank you so much!! hello talk has completely different functions so u could still use them together but i haven’t rly used it in a while bc i got a tired trying to connect w people 😭 i unironically prefer AI lolll
@@ebifriedI made some friends on hellotalk but have no idea how or if I would find them again. I can also completely see the appeal of AI conversation: more concise and hopefully always accurate. Thank YOU for sharing your knowledge and resources!
While Japanese isn't a language I am learning. Its great to see what makes a good language app. Ill be on the lookout for something similar. Great to see more longer form videos Ebi ❤
@@ebifried learning Russian. Currently at a toddler level maybe. But I'm good at taking one concept not meant for what I need and trying to adapt it to work for what I do. In this case finding better methods for solo learning.
I actually saw your community post about this and got the lifetime Bunpo for $40 before this video dropped (so hopefully didn't miss a referral link that you would get credit for). But the AI add-on being $100 a year or $20 a month on sale seems incredibly steep to me. But I guess if it's the only app you plan to use then maybe it's worth it. Regardless, i appreciate the recommendation for the base app!
The scan feature was the only one I hadn't used. So I just scanned some lyrics of a songtext and not only did the AI give an explanation of the meaning and a translation, but then also a dialoge between 2 people discussing the meaning of the song. Crazy.
Good video really enjoyed seeing the app and it’s features. Definitely seems super powerful. One minor piece of feedback I’d like to give is it wasn’t clear from the video (unless I missed it in which case I do apologise) that a lot of the lessons and features seem to be locked behind a paywall. It would have been nice to know that prior to downloading. Full transparency as well I have only used the app for about 10 minutes so maybe it unlocks later but I can’t access T series and later on hiragana so I presume it’s just not available.
Will u pls teach how to use japanaese keypad on phone ..i had downloaded google keyboard app to type some simple words in japanese but i cant use it either😅..so if u teach it willbe big helpp
Your voice is kind of just very calming and being that I am an RNA Splicing mutation I am very Neurotic (by definition + including the actual science) it completely adds up; you should consider a career in medicine as being dope.
Hey ebi!...I m a beginner...will u pls make a vdeo on how to use anki and other japanese learning app ...I installed the anki app but don't know how to use it (on phone ; I don't have pc)?...plssssssssss plssss
What has your experience been like with using the expert tutor chat? I can't find any info on the quality of the tutor support. I'd buy lifetime access for this alone if the tutoring is accessible and high quality.
@ebifried the singer of ベテリギウス! If you like that you should look up his other song dry flower. He did a good punk rock cover of it that's on RUclips also
i would say write but if you choose to use the mic option it would be the same! you could use it to speak and listening to them will help w pronunciation
@@ebifried I've been using just the microphone and it works super great! I mean, aside from the fact that I'm kind of terrible at speaking. But that's why I'm using it!
You know what's funny? You're an Aussie who sounds American. Tell me how this happened? Some of your Aussie-ness comes thru when you say instructional stuff...anything else you sound American when you speak faster and are excited
studied abroad in japan when my japanese wasn’t good enough so when i spoke english i had to americanise it to be understood :( also studied abroad a lot and europeans struggle understanding australian accent! so it’s just for ease of understanding for foreigners haha
Bunpo is actually the first app I used for learning Japanese!!! It helped me through the alphabet and basic words :D
oh nice!! i actually used to use it agesssss ago bahhaha now im using it again for different features 😄
Being a Japanese person and is fluent in Japanese, bunpo is actually really accurate!
is it like fully accurate?
This is sooo good, especially if you're taking the JLPT or even trying to improve your Japanese in a systematic way!
OMG NEW EBI VIDEO 💚💚 I cant wait! ありがとう~
omggg ily im saving this comment

I might not be interested in learning Japanese; but practice conversation? surely that's a no brainer feature that every app should have!
it’s an app i’ve wanted for so long! next level i would want to be able to talk to it like a robot lol

hmm hiragana should be the first thing available! sorry for not clarifying, I guess I have full access so iM unsure which features are paywalled 🥹
Ok, you convinced me, one subscriber for you one new app for me.
bahahah yay!
AI Tutor that works? Great feature!!!
ikr it’s surprisingly good
was thinking about using it, might try it out :)
would be cool to update in discord :p

But will it let me know if my tattoo means what I think it means 😅
Good video Ebi, definitely will check it out!
yes if you watched the Snap section, use that and ask what does it mean lol
I would like to use it. Would it help me read and understand anime in Japanese? As I assume the translations can't be perfect.
learning japanese will help w understanding anime yes hahah

there’s tons of videos on it out there alr!
Can I also study Chinese characters? I only know hiragana katakana
this focuses more on learning the grammar! if you wanna learn kanji characters i’d suggest anki and wanikani
@@ebifried I just installed anki. Thank you for the recommendation

so far i still haven’t needed it bc the AI tutor is good enough! the expert tutor reply takes longer afaik
