It might be called a lizard , but I think the designers intention was to emulate a salamander. I've definitely seen salamanders around bass beds. My observation for what it's worth. Thx Randy.
I agree. I think they emulate salamanders. I see them in my lakes up here in the North. Salamanders mate in the spring. They love the mud. They will be in mud bottom lakes
Just my opinion but I'd think the lizard might be good in the more tropical climates since they are all around the area. Plus, there are some geckos & other critters in that kind of climate.
when people talk about “lizards” in a fishing sense i think they’re usually talkin about mud puppies which do eat bass eggs. thanks randy much love from south carolina
I remember a few years ago i was fishing for bass in one of my friends' farm and i caught a seven pound catfish. Man, what i fight that was. Thanks for a great video and 2 great channels, Randy! You are one of the very best presenters of content out there!
Caught a 30 lb bag one spring on a 4 inch black mister twister lizard. On a 5 1/2 ft bps bionic blade and a abu 5000 on my pistol grip rod 1987 lol. Out of a couple cedar trees on a creek
I caught a nice limit of 2-3lb largemouth on KY Lake as a co-angler during a springtime BFL on a pegged texas rigged lizard (black w/ red flake). My boater was fishing a feeder creek with a lipless crankbait and carolina-rig in the channel. While he powered back and forth through the creek, I just pitched and cast to any stump / laydown that I could hit in 2-4' of water. Aside from a really rough ride back to weigh-in, it was one of my favorite tournament days.
The gentleman that posted earlier about salamander is correct there spawning time also coincides with the bass spawn. Salamander’s lay eggs like a frog does that’s why the spring time period is always so good .
My best lizard day was on Fayette County lake in Texas. The fish were suspended in standing timber, and I caught 5 in a row, all over 5 pounds! They used to sell water dogs at a bait shop by the lake, and the fish loved lizards! I like the cotton candy with a chart. Tail the best. Great video
Most of the Salamanders spawn in the water in the spring when the temperature gets right. Here in Ohio I have seen them and frogs spawning in the same shallow water areas. One on my favorite baits to throw.
I knew I was doing something right. That green lizard is my confidence bait. Although there's no pressure on my lakes/ponds, I do catch them year around with it. Just yesterday actually. So versatile. Sometimes swimming it mid column, sometimes even kind of burning it high like a spinnerbait. I've also done well on Fork with it. Thx for the videos.
Randy I want to say I enjoy your channel, and appreciate the tips you give. I also watch that livescope guy…. I commend you on how you handled yourself in that interview and since, and have been disappointed in how others have handled themselves. We can disagree and be polite, even friendly to one another. Another great video, keep up the good work!
up here we get these little greenish newts w black spots & a yellow belly peppered w black dots. way i learnt it as a kid was newts like to eat bass eggs outta nests, so bass hate seeing newts around spawning areas in springtime. dont know if its true, but lizards are a top three springtime bait for me- they produce!
I've caught really nice bass on lizards especially when in early to late spring I've seen them crawling all over rocks and bluffs. I've thrown them over bluffs and large boulders near super deep water T.rigs and darter heads or even dropshoting and tagged em!! Especially spotted bass that sit and suspend waiting for them to fall in the water...
Z-Man LizardZ look and fish like Zoom but a 5 pack will last all season - indestructible. Zoom or Z-Man green pumpkin with the tail dyed red is the bomb especially on Table Rock.
I love you man, but you keep saying something that drives me nuts (I was an English major). Something or other doesn't work "good" it works well. lizards work well in late spring etc etc.
When you fish the bottom. There is no lizard season. Yalls tripping as fook. In Commiefornia, there ain't lizards in the water, but conditions given, there will be small salamanders like that in the water.

My Fave...two lures forever ? Lizard and a Fluke...Pearl white Fluke and that Zoon blk/red flake
Thank you for all yur hard work Mr blauket
Love the channel. Watch them all. Just catching up between the two channels. Learning a lot. Thanks for making. You truly are a teacher
Lizards are one of my favorite baits. I've caught a bunch of big ones off them

Like them Lizards. Thanks for the info.

I still have a 5 1/2' pistol grip for Texas rigged soft plastics...great setup for a kayak getting into tight areas
I crushed them on lizards this summer. 8" black and weightless. Slowly swimming it. You put out a video about doing this and it definitely works.
Hot summertime. Lizard on a buzzbait. Blizzard! Bass crush it.
Just seen this one, lizard was and still is one of my favorites

Hellbenders are great Ozark area “lizards”. Maybe the reason that Zoom lizards are such a great bait during the spawn.

I’m a big fan the Brush Hog!

I’ve caught em in December on a salamander bait many times.

Watermelon seed is one of my favs , for here

"never seen a lizard in a lake"
Me neither.
Caught my biggest (11.7) on a zoom lizard. They catch big 🐟
The Zoom lizard is imperative in the spring on El Salto in MX. But the 8" lizard is the one, not the 6.
That’s a huge fish. What state ?
@@fishboydyl California
There's definitely salamanders and newts, I've caught a couple, around here pumpkinseed is a close match
In PA in clear lakes I use a 4 inch watermelon black seed on a drop shot. Works great in late May to end of June!
I'm also in Pa. I've found a weightless texas rig and an Owner Twistlock Lite have been the ways that have worked the best for me.
Newts start life in/underwater, feeding on any egg it can, among other things.
I love a lizard pre spawn ; spawn ; post spawn
Z-Man LizardZ look and fish like Zoom but a 5 pack will last all season - indestructible. Zoom or Z-Man green pumpkin with the tail dyed red is the bomb especially on Table Rock.
Carolina Rig... 😊
Works great for night fishing a Carolina rig in the summer at night
Hmm, Randy break this myth !
I’d guess dragging these around on a split shot rig works pretty well too
I don’t think it’s exactly a lizard they think it is, but maybe a newt.
I’ve tried to find the link in the discrimination for tackle warehouse but no luck.
I have caught em in other seasons
Is it a lizard or a salamander or a newt .salamanders and newts go in the water.
They are Salamander's and Newt's.
Many throw the 6” or 8” lizard. But I have always done better with the zoom 5” Lizard.
I love you man, but you keep saying something that drives me nuts (I was an English major). Something or other doesn't work "good" it works well. lizards work well in late spring etc etc.
Sound like a snob to me !
