Starts video, pauses video at @1:00 and gets a notebook, resumes video to learn. :) I greatly appreciate your content and sharing this info! Edit: Finished the video and am off to adjust my Etsy Ad settings!
Thank you so much for giving us this master class! I can see I have a lot to learn if I am going to make online sales profitable. The breakdown of the stats is so important, this is something that Etsy as a platform can’t/maybe doesn’t want you to see, but as a business owner, you need to know.
Greatly appreciate the breakdown and the time you took to create the content. I will be starting my own new business this month. This info will be helpful.
Ive been lurking in your channel for a while. You’re a good speaker, good teacher, and someone who is easy to listen and learn from. Thanks for the video!
Etsy does show the conversion %. That’s the percentage of buyers that clicked the listing and completed a purchase. As for the Ads, I’ve spent A TON of money on Etsy ads, and overall, it’s not very good. But “good” is subjective. Sure, many would likely make a profit, but when diving into it, what it does is decrease the margins to a point that it’s not really worth it. It’s worth it for Etsy, but not for the seller.
I've been watching you since your 1st vid on your business. I've been printing for so long and kinda started my business myself but it failed. Now I'm trying again myself. Not gonna lie, the 1st few order is gold and memorable. I've been inspired and pushed by your vids. Thanks men and keep it up. Best of luck on your business
Thank You so much for this video!!!! I am new on etsy and have been playing with adds. I turned them of few days ago just seeing the number I knew something was wrong but not what....Good to know the lingo as well so thanks for sharing that...I'll prolly watch this video 2-3 more times.
The Information you provide is amazing, and I will continue to watch your content as it is informational, I believe ESTY was designed for hobbyists , artists etc... years ago.. I would search handmade wallet, be directed to Esty have a conversation with the creator and receive the product. looks as if just local listings and trade shows will begin to be more beneficial to them
Wow! That’s a great analysis Chris! I’d love to have a deeper discussion about it, and expect I’ll see that develop here in the comments. Some questions that come to mind for me (maybe rhetorical): Regarding the $189 ’loss’, don’t you just consider that as the overall cost of advertising? Or as the cost of getting sales ramped up (for a new business, or new product)? Regarding keywords, and work to refine them, am I correct and understanding that Etsy‘s charges for advertising are based on the number of impressions?
Excellent overview and detailed breakdown on a topic I thought I understood but really don't. I'm looking forward to more videos. Thanks for the video and best of luck in 2025.
Great video! I'll definitely be trying out the filtering of ad search terms in the future. I'd be really interested to hear more from you regarding finding search engine optimization specifically regarding listing tags and Google or other search engines rankings. One more thing do you think you'll try out other companies for advertisement? I've heard good things regarding Instagram and I'm curious if Google ads are worth it or not.
It's on the list of video topics! I'm not sure if I'll try other advertising channels because building brand awareness is expensive and not something I'm interested in
For future reference, "made" and "amount sold" is two different things. I know you know this but others may not. People sell five hundred dollars worth of "stuff" in their garage sale and tell people they "made" $500 by selling a thousand dollars worth of their things.
I also worked in the ad industry for years... 20 years.. Makes me seem old lol Etsy is also just last clicks right? I looked everywhere and didn't see an attribution window so I just assumed it's last click. I'd love it if they gave us the ability to day part on etsy.
For easy to charge for adds is disgusting. You pay to list. You oaycomission on sales. This should cover easy promoting you equally with other sellers if you list your widget it should be shown to anyone that who's search criteria matches your widget
I will say though, they do provide the customer. The hardest part about starting a business is driving sales. Etsy does pretty much all of that for you.

Finally the video I’ve been looking for!
I had no clue there was so much to break down from Etsy ads 😵💫. Great video though!
Great video man didn’t know that back end of the ads existed!

Couldn't ask for a better explainer on Etsy Ads. Thanks!

Etsy shows shop conversion rate, but I've not found it in the actual Ads section of the dashboard.
@@OfficialOffDaBench I believe it's on the stats page. I'm not looking at it now, but I look at it frequently.

Thanks for expanding the understanding of Etsy ads , more like a warning IMHO
No problem! Just important stuff I think people should know

Great video, thank you.
Went into my ads and turned off several non applicable search terms! Thank you 😊
No problem!
Nicely done and some good information given - thankyou

Great video mate, do you have a spreadsheet to calculate all the fees etc based on your selling price and cost to make an item ?
I do! Its not the pretty sheet and needs some work, but could try to explain it in a future video.
@@OfficialOffDaBench would you be ok to share it ?

Can you do a video on search engine optimization?
I'll add that to my list, although SEO is not my strongest are in marketing!
It's been pretty obvious for a while if you break down the numbers and do even a casual audit of the search results. Etsy ads are a grift.
Yes and no. If you set it and forget it, Etsy will be the winner.
I also worked in the ad industry for years... 20 years.. Makes me seem old lol Etsy is also just last clicks right? I looked everywhere and didn't see an attribution window so I just assumed it's last click. I'd love it if they gave us the ability to day part on etsy.
I think Etsy has a 30 day attribution window :)
@ view and click? Seems like a big window
so.. just confirmed ETSY Ads are just not worth it!
Depends! If you know what changes to make, they can make a meaningful impact.
