These models cars (89-90) have a dashboard sensor to run the lights in the daytime. Sometimes they say ok until the sensor tells it to cut off. Most of the time they stay on. The twilight switch it to control how long they stay on after you shut the car down.
Also, take that alternator to AutoZone and get checked - alternator may not be charging the battery properly. Just had the EXACT SAME problem on my 79 Caddy. Took about 3 months before the Generator light started lighting up in the car to let me know the alternator was bad. Battery would be dead on me at random times....drive for a week, then boom, dead battery. Charge it, and its fine for a week or two, then same thing. CHECK THE GROUNDS AT THE BATTERY BRO - TRUST ME!
Sequential lights they shoul turn off after turning off the car then 1 more minute after. This actually was a big thing back in the 90's. 😅 Besides the famous box chevy ride with lights on in the daytime😅 You clean then😅
If you did check the wires by the starter Make sure the car didn't have an alarm box on it because it will cause it to not crank if it is still hooked up (when you thought it was the ignition) and test the alternator could have it dragging like that
That's what I'm talking about g do your thing I'm locked in watching and learning man I'm about to go out and put hands on my box Chevy after this episode 😂😂😂 keep it coming geeee 💪
I'm happy that you got it started. Also sometimes if you're distributor is Crack and you inside the cap there's a hair line Crack that will also make it not stop and your rotor. Good check bro.
battery connections - the ground wire may be too little that goes to the fender. I had to hook up another ground cable on my battery, and grounded it directly to the frame. I have a side post, so I bought a top post cable and hooked it up to the top post on my Red Top Optima battery. Starting problems went away. That little wire was getting hot, and eventually burned up. Also, changing the rotor button did NOT affect any timing.
From what I understand those rotor buttons get moisture on them and after a while they stop working. I had a Blazer with that problem. Changed the rotor and cap and it fired right up.
Get a voltage meter check battery voltage before starting…get that reading.. then keep voltage meter on battery while cranking see if voltage drops while trying to start it… battery may not be strong enough got to have at least 12.5 volts
If the switch is off and the lights are still on, you may need to inspect the wiring and connections to see if there is a short circuit or a faulty relay. It's also possible that the light control module or the body control module may be malfunctioning.
Yea Ike it's the second roll switch all ls Brougham don't have it... Roll it down to decrease the time delay on you lights.... Look at your dash it's different the others and has a sensor in it that detects sun light
Check the fuse that runs to the alternator. i had the same problem kept changing batteries and alternator….whole time it was a fuse that connect to the alternator somewhere
Them lights dragging the battery down. Does it have Twilight Sentinel switch in the car? MY caddy has that, and it is like having the daytime running lights. Check for that.
U check wiring to starter? With the fusible links? I kno my starter was trippen nt too long ago. My problem was starter but see if them wires connections are good/free from corrosion etc. Jus a idea my guy. Hope u get it figured out ✊🏼✊🏼💪🏽💪🏽 #boxchevyfam
What’s up Ike! I’m having the same exact problem with my 80’ Caprice. New Cap & Rotor, new fuel filter, new battery, new plugs, changed the oil, and she still wont crank! Tapped the carburetor and tapped the starter as well. What was the initial problem from keeping the box to start? What got it running?
That Headlight switch is the source of your problem.... take that switch out of the dash, and its probably fried.... i had that iasue wuth my 82 regal... headlight switch went bad and it would not turnover. Also the lights would either not come on or stay on. Switxh is shorting out
It's a process bruh. You getting there ......charge your battery. Fire the car up , take the pos and neg off while the car running your car should keep running. Make sure the cable don't touch nothing. This will let you know if your alternator /battery bad
Now you charge the battery up and she died. Jump the car and take off the negative cable from the battery if the car dies it the alternator. Make sure to charge the battery again before jumping the car and starting it.
Ike I commented last week on your post ah man it has nothing to do with the motor it's in your harness some where just pull the 305 and painless that baby cause if you ls swap you gonna do the harness anyway with a tbi or drive-by wire. ,. But the lights could be sentinel lights that go out after a couple of minutes my 88 Caprice and my 79 olds did the same thing
Could be a bad battery or bad alternator nothing to do with those button the rotor button only goes on one way but I’d say it’s something to do with the charger system
Your lights is on cause of the Twilight Sentinel is on and it sense the darkness due to the paper on your dash is on top of it making it think it's dark outside
If you lived in Chicago or Memphis, maybe it's me but I think we done met somewhere in between. Memory is Straight Tight do know where but I remember you checking me out a an auto zone when picking up a part.🫵👊💪🤞🤞🤞💯💯💯💯🫡🫡🫡
Watching the build 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
You went ham on the paint job. That thing look brand new

Exactly
Sprayway with a can !good job .❤

Them ls box come with daytime running lamps and if you twist that distributor some with crank faster
I don’t think the timing is off. Slow cranking can be caused by the battery Brodie. That’s probably what made the starter go out.
Good footage bro 👍 she gonna be aight plus you going LS anyway
That thing sounds good cruising down the road

Glad you back rolling but get a battery quick disconnect terminal for the battery til you resolve the light issue

I been learning everything from the beginning and can’t wait to do my s10 front suspension
Or something pulling on the battery. Light, alternator, starter or possibly the battery???
Get a cap and get a bigger battery. Disconnect everything hooked to it and see if it holds a charge.
Hope u get her togetha👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Sound like the timing over turnt. Losing the distributor and turn it counter clockwise to adjustable it. If its to much back clockwise
Get a voltage meter check battery voltage before starting…get that reading.. then keep voltage meter on battery while cranking see if voltage drops while trying to start it… battery may not be strong enough got to have at least 12.5 volts
Chevy may have daytime running lights
Or night light sensor may be active from being parked under the car cover
He ain’t playing. He trying to come outside frfr
It a switch beside the drimmer switch that controls the lights if it on it makes the light come when the ignition switch come on
Check ya head light dimmer switch. It's the one attached to the column when changed ignition switch.
If the switch is off and the lights are still on, you may need to inspect the wiring and connections to see if there is a short circuit or a faulty relay. It's also possible that the light control module or the body control module may be malfunctioning.
Make sure your ground is good on the car frfr 🎉
Yea Ike it's the second roll switch all ls Brougham don't have it... Roll it down to decrease the time delay on you lights.... Look at your dash it's different the others and has a sensor in it that detects sun light
I would have the alternator tested, it might not be charging the battery....Looking good so far
Rear end came out sharp
? Do those rear end cap twist on
Check the brake switch behind the brake paddle
It's got daytime running lights o.g roll the switch up to activate and down to decrease to lamp time being on. An timing is 8 degrees
Check the fuse that runs to the alternator. i had the same problem kept changing batteries and alternator….whole time it was a fuse that connect to the alternator somewhere
Tuned in yessir 🔥🔥🔥🔥💪💪👍💯
One or 2 of the light terminals may be rusty which can trip the circuit and cause the lights to be on.
What up bro salute 💪
Good work bro! Glad it’s mostly figured out…I honestly think it’s just the battery at this point🤷🏾♂️
I think so too
Before replacing the rotor knob you should’ve took a pic so it can fire in order did that to my aerocoupe
Oh yeah, defiantly tuned in
I been tuned in since yo blue caprice before you painted it before you put the coil overs on and everything 🫡🤘🏾💯🏁
Test your alternator. You just need a volt meter to check voltage when car is running to see if alternator is charging.
Turning over like the battery about dead is the alternator charging ?
Them lights dragging the battery down. Does it have Twilight Sentinel switch in the car? MY caddy has that, and it is like having the daytime running lights. Check for that.
My shii do the same it’s alternator and battery
Check your wires to the starter that was installed and the alternator
U check wiring to starter? With the fusible links? I kno my starter was trippen nt too long ago. My problem was starter but see if them wires connections are good/free from corrosion etc. Jus a idea my guy. Hope u get it figured out ✊🏼✊🏼💪🏽💪🏽 #boxchevyfam

The problem could be a faulty dimmer switch, or a bad headlight switch or delay timer or headlamp relay or a loose or shorted wire.
Check behind the brake peddle
👍🏿👍🏿
Change the switch panel for the lights
Check the relay under the dash
It's a switch behind the brake peddle
&Man Frfr lk u said gota be confident on that road😂😂She gotta be able to handle the ride I ain lien🆑🤝
Shout out to #Truckload you came through on them lights
Replace your fusible link in the red wire going to the starter.
Do that car have the twilight lights or day time running lights switch on it
It could be the alternater or battery
It probably has that sensor in the dashboard to make the lights come on move that paper out the dashboard its covering the sensor
That Headlight switch is the source of your problem.... take that switch out of the dash, and its probably fried.... i had that iasue wuth my 82 regal... headlight switch went bad and it would not turnover. Also the lights would either not come on or stay on. Switxh is shorting out
Check them Wires just one more time on that starter but it sound like that timing gone be the issue that on out there To The Cleave
My be the light switch or assembly.
It's a process bruh. You getting there ......charge your battery. Fire the car up , take the pos and neg off while the car running your car should keep running. Make sure the cable don't touch nothing. This will let you know if your alternator /battery bad
Looks like you learned something New rotor cap burned, check the light switch
If you haven’t already change the ignition module because it will make you car cutoff while driving
We in here
Could be an electrical issue to.
Even tho you changed the rotor button I would change the ignition coil also
🤑
I wonder if you have a bad relay and that's why your lights won't cut off
Could be the coil my box was doing the same thing fam
Could be alternator not keeping the battery charged 💯
Gone head call spank get that timing set
You need a brand new battery my boy, & maybe a new alternator.
Check the radio and see if ur horn work they on the same fuse
Now you charge the battery up and she died. Jump the car and take off the negative cable from the battery if the car dies it the alternator. Make sure to charge the battery again before jumping the car and starting it.
Bro got more than half tank of gas whaaaat 😂😂😂
Could be a wiring problem or as simple as bad headlight switch 😮
You was crying in the last video gang it didn’t want to start i see you my boy
Bro what are the specs on your qp rear end
Ike I commented last week on your post ah man it has nothing to do with the motor it's in your harness some where just pull the 305 and painless that baby cause if you ls swap you gonna do the harness anyway with a tbi or drive-by wire. ,. But the lights could be sentinel lights that go out after a couple of minutes my 88 Caprice and my 79 olds did the same thing
Check that light switch it could be bad and killing the battery as well.
I think that music may be the cause pull the deck out and trace the wires make sure nothing touching
Pull number spark plug stick some tissue in da spark hole bump da key when da tissue pop out timing set
Bad Battery….. if you didn’t physically turn the distributor when you put on the roller button the timing is not off.
Timing could be off a tad bit.
Could be a bad battery or bad alternator nothing to do with those button the rotor button only goes on one way but I’d say it’s something to do with the charger system
Time is off young brother just a little bit
It might be short in the switch my guy I seen them flicking on and off whenever u we’re trying to get them to go off my guy
That's the auto lights bro pull it out from under the car port and they will go off..the car thinks it's dark outside
It could be your starter is not sheamed right. Are the battery is no good.
OK, enough about your builds, lol. What's up with your wife's car ? Could we have some kind of up date 🚗 my brother 😂.
Man I been looking everywhere for a rear end ? Where you get that from
Quick performance but I got another box Chevy rear end for sale
Your lights is on cause of the Twilight Sentinel is on and it sense the darkness due to the paper on your dash is on top of it making it think it's dark outside
If you lived in Chicago or Memphis, maybe it's me but I think we done met somewhere in between. Memory is Straight Tight do know where but I remember you checking me out a an auto zone when picking up a part.🫵👊💪🤞🤞🤞💯💯💯💯🫡🫡🫡
Change the battery 🪫 and the alternator 💯🫡
Alternator and battery problem fam
Or you might have daytime running lights. Possibly 🤔🤔🤔
Wire from the starter is what’s smoking
