Before doing any verses this and that gun , you have to pellet test all guns in question to find there preferred pellet , makes a massive difference, if you haven’t done this ,,, A VOID TEST , cheers shane uk 🇬🇧
Only just watched this as was considering a HW100BP. Great comparison video and glad to see the old faithful Air Arms doing so well. Remember, it's not regulated and purely mechanical. The Red Wolf is a marvel of engineering and electronics. Even a 1 armed, 1 eyed shooter that wears thick glasses in the dark could shoot a good group with a Red Wolf. The gun does most of the work for you. All the shooter has to do is point and squeeze! Excellent video though. (Also I'm a huge AA fan!)
I agree with you Chris. S400 performed better. In my oppinion the best performance was DS with 8.44 grs. Groupings were excelent at 50m for DS and AA. I would like to see one of them tested against FX MK2. Thanks for another great video!!
Considering the price difference between the the more expensive HW100 and the Red wolf , The S-400 is probably the most bang for the buck for anyone getting into Target shooting .
Nice shooting that at 50 metres,it’s a good range to test them at. I’d be very happy with either the Air Arms or the Red Wolf,I think the HW may need a barrel clean or something? Obviously you need to find the most suitable pellet for best accuracy which is an issue when comparing rifles using the same pellet, but I enjoy these comparison videos 👍
RPN. Thank you for the kind words. I agree, something strange happened with the hw100. I guess I will have to continue with my studies... Thanks for the continued support.
Should check the velocity of the hw100 using 8gr pellets. Maybe the speed was too high. Try to tune down the regulator setting and the hammer spring also If the 8gr runs on more than 850 fps its going to be spiralling. We can see the this on the video by ted holdover couple years back Cheers,
Have owned an S400 .22" carbine for over 20 years. A few comments on here regarding matching pellets to the gun which is fair. I have found my S400 to be less pellet-fussy than others but its always worth testing a variety. My barrel likes JSBs and Air Arms own brand (which I believe are also JSBs). My only minor gripe is a small variation of muzzle velocity over an 80 shot string. This is unfair given the price of the gun and it being unregulated but I am about to treat it to a Lane regulator kit to address the issue. I never plan to sell the gun.
Update: The Lane regulator is a good piece of kit. Before fitting I was getting 70 shots just under 10 ft-lb with a standard deviation of 15 ft/sec. After fitting I am getting 50 shots at just under 12 ft-lb with a standard deviation of 5 ft/sec. You can squeeze another 20 shots but you are below regulator pressure by then and the muzzle velocity tails off. For a carbine length cylinder I am pleased with that.
Good test cris ! air arms costing the least won the day .. For the future maybe s/w shooters will get their hands on some of the czech stuff cause the RR looks hard to beat in 8.44 grains
@@southwestshooters yes I got the 177 as I've never been a fan of 22. I also got the walnut as I'm a bit of a traditionalist lol. I found the trigger you be incredibly sensitive but I'll get used to it. Happy shooting and keep up the great videos 😀
@@julieshoneybee awesome. I prefer 177 as well. The two things I really love are the trigger and the cocking arm. They are superior to anything else. More videos will be coming soon!
These are all. 177. I don't think there is any difference between these and. 22 in terms of the accuracy. It's the trajectory of the pellet that changes.
Interesting vid. Would also be interested to see how they compare with H&N and QYS pellets. My HW100KT is much better with H&N variations such as Bisley Magnum than JSB pellets. .
This is something of a rite of passage - try it, because you won’t believe it unless you find out for yourself. Oh, and while you’re at it, could try weighing them and measuring the head size! To add something else, when you find the best pellet for your gun and you’ve identified the perfect head size and weight, the next tin, unless it is the same batch number, could well have you scratching your head wondering why your group size has inexplicably increased.
As with all these shooting test vids, no guarantee that distance is as quoted, I noticed that gun hits target almost as soon as gun being fired which should not be the case unless its 10 metres??.
You can't just shoot all 3 on one pellet ,you have to pellet test each gun first and use the best pellet for each gun . The s 400 looked like the scope needed to be zeroed before the test ..
Nice video. I've just seen this two years down the road. I agree with quite a few of the comments that none of these are true budget guns so it would be fairer to find each guns prefered top two pellets. Once you find out that you can have a much fairer comparision, but also on average a shorter barrel is not quute as accurate/consistant so maybe two tests one model in a short bullpup version and then its longer barreled version or nearest equivalent. Sorry to push this a bit more but also the same make and model of scope not necessarily the top of the range maybe the next lower model range or even the one below that, which are still high end for most people if in 2024 we are talking 200 plus priced scopes upto around 300. I think many upgrading to a gun like the redwolf would have a scope around this level and sink the money fully into getting the best air rifle possible and upgrade to a high-end scope later down the road. Great video and over a good distance rather than the usual 20m to 30m tests we see more often. Watched this because looking at a new PCP most likely the FX Wildcat, Brocock compatto the HW100 or maybe the airwolf
I have a red wolf 177 and it does not like jsb it also gets a couple of flyers per 10 shots so I stopped using them, l use mako slugs for hunting with very good results but for ultimate accuracy daystate own pellets or H&N ft barracudas pellet on pellet 25 yds and I have done an awful lot of testing and yes like you I love the gun had 3 100,s before switching thumb holes standards and carbine

As many have said, it’s a bit of pointless comparison using the same pellet, as each barrel will prefer a different brand, weight and head size, all this is, is a pellet test really, not a rifle test. 😢

Surely for accuracy testing, you might want to make sure the target doesn’t move.
Not sure about that. But obviously you can think about it however you want.
