@@nullpoint3346 have you seen the Matt Damon movie Elysium? Well with the Space Marines body, his Black Carapace Implants and power armor it acts similar to those healing machines. Not to that level of speed or regen of large amounts of mass but essentially it will heal a space marine. In case of fractures, loss of bone, tendons and ligaments if the power armor is not to damaged it will attempt to stop the bleeding and seal the wound. If it's major the marine may attempt to cauterize the wound and use a sealing kit over the hole in his armor. His fluid reclaim and whatever drugs his suit sends to it won't go to waste..
If body parts are damaged to significant incapacitation you may see him limp or part of him will move slow. It's because his implants and suit have shutdown or reduced function in the damaged areas. His power armor will still move him he just won't be using his muscles.
Marines that get bones set will heal easily. Ligaments and tendons that aren't completely parted will heal.
Don't attack Marines in waves unless you can kill one. Because most likely by the time you mount another attack he's healed up most of his wounds.
They can't regrow limbs or organs because they have most of their post human organs implanted. The black Carapace is embedded from the cortex down to make power armor like skin to them. The advantages they get from that take years to fully integrate. Cybernetics are relatively easy and vastly quicker to get a marine back to 100% with some pros and cons.
After a mission or campaign Marines will undergo surgery and rehab. Some Marines choose to leave scars and pain from wounds so long as it's not affecting his performance.
Marines can heal from and stay alive after suffering nearly any injury. Including decapitation. The thing is though... they rarely have the option to snatch up a critically wounded Marine and get him in a med bay. Add in the ability for a Marine to still be a lethal adversary until he's unconscious or dead...missing limbs bleeding out..half his head gone.

As far as terminator armor goes usually the first company of each chapter is composed solely of veterans of the chapter, and they are permitted to wear terminator armor because there’s only a certain amount of suits in the imperium since at this point they’re considered to be irreplaceable.
However some chapters have a lot more suits than others so you may find that more individual space Marines have terminator armor assigned to them in some chapters than others, but one thing is constant and that the people that have the terminator armor assigned to them are always veterans of said chapter
As far as discipline goes since terminators are all veterans of the chapter they’re extremely experienced and are allowed the autonomy to move and act as one or in their teams as they deem necessary, however in situations where they’re clearing out a whole space hulk there wouldn’t just be a team of three there would be close to the entire first company of veterans with terminator armor; or at least as many as they could field, going through the ship.
Unfortunately for space marine chapters there’s no distribution center for them to requisition gear, the chapter is pretty much responsible for all the war gear that they have and acquiring new war gear as necessary, which could involve anything from raiding lost ruins of humanity, to stealing wargear from other “Less loyal” chapters, this why you see such a large disparity in some chapters in terms of how much they can field at a time. There are some chapters who have plenty of terminator armor and other exotic tech, and there are some chapters; mostly ones who have taken casualties or been in prolonged combat, that are attrited down to basically just power armor and bolters.

Astartes terminators are the veteran space marines who rose through the ranks of the chapter and found themselves restationed to the chapter's first company. Of all the honors awarded for valor and service to space marines, terminators are the creme of the crop. Alongside their veteran status, terminators are given more advanced terminator armor, which is stronger, bigger, and more functional than your normal battle brothers. Often times these suits will include void shield generators or teleporter arrays, and for times when they support their brothers in combat, a terminator brings a shoulder mounted deathstrike missile launcher. All terminators where a special badge on their shoulderplate called the crux terminatus, it is a specially designed badge said to possess a tiny fragment of the very armor the emperor himself wore when he was still whole. If a terminator falls and the armor(and by extension the terminatus badge) is not recovered, it is considered a shame that reflects on the chapter at fault. Chapter masters, chaos lords, and even the primarchs themselves were known to where their own specialized suits of terminator armor, the suits representing status and serving additional battlefield applications.

The drill is actually for drilling into the power armour to extract the gene seed of a fallen brother, which can be used for transplantation into an initiate later.
The game has two healing methods: the kind of insta-heal on one person and a healing wave for a period of time, healing everyone in radius while the skill is active.
In the lore these people more work like you expect from doctors. Actually the power armour is supposed to inject stimulants and the self-healing capabilities of the marines are pretty high. They cannot bleed out if an arm gets cut off or so.

About 6 months to a year later you would pay half price for another 40 to 50% or more of a game called an expansion pack.
      .....
Now games come broken and 30% complete. I'm probably aware that it's usually the corporate side that is the problem. But you have people creating free Minecraft terminators that can out PVP the best PVPers and outparkour the best Minecraft players and you're telling me there's no AI programs available anywhere out there that could be incorporated into creating a serviceable AI for the functions of your Terminator companions? It's very irritating.

To clarify some points on Space Marine Apothecaries. In lore they are as much experienced doctors and surgeons and space marine biologists as much as combat medics. The drill on their wrist is apart of a piece of equipment called a narthecium which is roughly a medical multi-tool that holds medicine, surgical implements, and anything a Apothecary would normally need to care for a space marine. The drill is there to be able to cut away pieces of armor and bone (Space marines ribs are fused together to form more like a carapace plate) so they can treat wounds and administer other aid. Space Marines do also have a stimulate that speeds up their natural healing so a Apothecary could decide to just give a dose of stimulate to a lightly-moderately wounded Space Marine in combat to get them through the fight and focus instead on killing heretics or more severely injured Marines. You typically see Apothecaries attached to a command squad but in situations like this they also roll on the front lines.

Btw a space marine's gene-seed is actually an organic implant.
It goes something like this if i'm not wrong:
-Child gets accepted for training as a space marine
    -Child doesn't die during training
-Child doesn't die during the final trial ( usually some kind of brutal challenge, depends on chapter )
-Child undergoes various surgeries ( one of which is gene-seed implentation )
-Child doesn't die due to gene-seed regection ( likelihood depends on chapter, but it's usually a big chance )
-Child mutates and becomes a new initiate ( usually employed as scouts for the chapter )
There are more things, like the black carapace, but thats the gist of it.
Also only male children can undergo the procedure. Females always regect the gene-seed, and so do all adults.

as you need atleast 25% to survive to continue the line as a fully matured marine produces 4 geneseed that can be used to implant the next generation

They bring the wearer to whole new levels of capability.
If just heavier armour is needed, space marines tend to use breacher shields and sometimes heavy Mk III "Iron" power armor (if available, they're also relics, but more common).

the thing with the apothecary drill is that they have to pierce through that super thick ceramite (or plasteel i can't remember) armor, just to get to the soft bits inside, and you can imagine how thick a terminator suit can be at any given angle. so the best method of patching a space marine up mid-fight is of course, just to drill through the armor instead of taking the needless time to take off any given part of the suit.

The Deathwing are the most Elite designated Terminator formation within the Imperium. Some very tall Space marines also had to get their Terminator Plate being put on a Dreadnought Chassis in Order to make it fit them (Tyberos the Red Wake), so the Ultimate size may vary.

The Narthecium, the apothecary arm mounted medical device, is equipped with drills and saws for cutting into power armour, needles to inject patients with healing stimulants and various little tools and appendages that the apothecary can control to quickly repair torn ligaments, set and fuse bone, inject antivenom, antidotes and drugs to trigger or speed up the healing process.
The drill gets the needle through the armour, the stims force the marines body to heal within seconds to minutes...
Each gauntlet is either built by the apothecary, or they'll modify one passed down to them... This allows them to rapidly perform field surgery on injured battle brothers to the point where they can be combat effective minutes after suffering what would usually be a debilitating or mortal wound.
Lost arms can be reattached, severed ligaments can be reconnected, broken bones set and reknitted, torn muscles healed, enough pain killers to knock out an elephant and enough adrenaline to keep them awake through it all...
And despite being hyper specialised, capable of completing surgery that would take an experienced team of doctors a few days to complete in minutes with a nothing but a fancy glove, they are also incredibly effective space marines, capable of fighting with their assigned squads.
The morbid second use of the Narthecium is to kill any marine that is beyond saving with purified bullets, and to drill into their bodies to extract the precious gene seed.

Terminator armor is basically special power armor that is generally exclusive the oldest and most competent marines. It's pretty difficult to make so there isn't very much of it.
It was actually originally supposed to fully phase out space marine armor, but one of the major issues with it is that it makes the marine slow as hell. They found this out the hard way when the Horus Heresy happened, and Chaos marines in regular power armor could easily just run circles around terminators and shoot them in the back.

If I remember it correctly, there are generally three types of power armor for Astartes (there are some other, but more on that maybe later): normal, terminator and dreadnought. I probably don't have to mention much about normal one, it's just a standard, most common suit of armor in several patterns (1 of which is specific to primaris marines, the rest is for the firstborn marines). Terminator armor, also in several patterns, is more rare and heavier suit of armor, much more protective at the expense of less mobility and in case of some even less freedom of movement. They're usually given to veterans. Dreadnought is a special case of extreme defence, not that much mobility and more or less a tomb combined into one thing. Dreadnought armor, also in several patterns, is given to marines which are so injured that they're beyond capability to completely restore their health and so they're entombed into these suits and put to sleep until time comes for them to go into battle (if I remember correctly, because of this they live for a long time, some dreadnoughts in current Imperium even remembering the days of Horus heresy). They're even more tanky than marines in terminator armor, they're bigger so incapable of some tasks like driving a vehicle, and also much more experienced in fighting. Dreadnoughts are pretty much the best warriors chapters can count on and they're highly respected.

Terminator armour, also known as tactical dreadnought armour, is an ancient variant of normal space marine armour that’s considerably larger, stronger and tougher than regular armour. It allows weapons like assault cannons and heavy flamers to be clamped directly on to a single arm of the suit and incorporates clever things like personal teleportation devices. Terminator armour is (usually) reserved for the Chapters first company, basically they’re oldest veterans, as the technology to create Terminator armour has been lost to time

space freighter is called a space hulk, and its usually a small moon sized clump of spaceships that got lost in the warp and drifted together while they whernt exactly in the same dimension so instead of crashing and exploding they just kindof merged
combine that with the walls becoming alive and growing trying to eat the other walls
this thing is big, there are very explosive parts to it, but its so massive that it doesnt really matter
in 40k even the smallest interstellar ships are about a mile and a half long, so when you smudge 20 of those together into a giant crumpled up ball
a few bolters and some fire isnt going to do mayor damage to the thing
and they are going to be a bit more careful around the actual archeotech they are sent in to recover

Just a Quick Reminder: The Dark Angels are the Space Marines most like medieval Knights. Though, there're some rumours that part of their Legion went traitor, now the Dark Angels are absolutely obsessed with Killing any of those Traitors referred to as "The Fallen".
Dark Angels are known to completely give up Tactical advantages if they so much as hear a whisper that a Fallen is present, Chaos knows this and a favorite tactic of theirs is to leak false intel that a Fallen is in a certain place and just pull the Dark Angels into a Trap

Terminator armor are given to elite veteran Space Marines. They are only deployed in special missions like clearing space hulks of course. Fun fact: Terminator armor in The Dark Age of Technology, the peak of humanity's scientific and technological achievement, Terminator armor was used in mining and farming in hostile environments, like SCVs in Starcraft

To answer your Terminator armor question. Terminator armor is so valuable that it is only give to veterans of each chapter. Also fun fact terminator armor was originally not meant to be used for war. It was actually used in mass quantity for mining, but after the dark age of technology and during the emperor's reign is was then used for war. (Dark age happened before the emperor stepped up to rule)

7:20 Terminator is also called tactical dreadnaught plate, and its basically a very rare suit of armor that has bells and whistles like a shield generator. They are bulky and hard to fight in, where in normal power armor spaces marines can move freely and quickly, in terminator they are slow lumbering giants relying on the additional protective systems and fire power of the terminator armor.

Basically the Dark Angels were the first space marines who got created, they are the First legion and probably the most tactically capable space marines who have several designated specialist forces like the Ravenwing (Fast strike cavalary, lots of bikes and fast aircraft) or as visible here, the Deathwing terminators who are one of the best heavy troops the Imperium has to offer. They battle within these bulky Terminator plate power armours wich make them very hard to overwhelm and capable of using guns that are made to be used from a vehicle, like a heavy Gatling gun for example or a huge Plasma cannon as you would see on a Tank usually. Also the Dark Angels own lots of secret weapons of mass Destruction with permission of the emperor to use in very important battles. The rest of their Forces are regular space marines and they have some really good Psykers among their ranks too, as well as the unique Interrogator Chaplain (basically a the best variant of an Interrogator available for the Imperium). Their Primarch, the Lion is known as the most ruthless and Pragmatic Primarch and the best Swordsman of all the 20 Primarchs. They are very able to respond to every eventuality.

small fun yet depressing story i heard from a friend soldier currently stationned in alberta (disclaimer: were both canadian):
U.S. army send some amount of troop to the canadian one yearly for winter training (cuz you know... canada = winter, so we know that stuff).
During one of those session, wich was center around survival, the US trainees had to stand guard during the night and more specifically watch over "the burner" (kind of gas lamp that emit heat so they dont die from the cold overnight). At some point the trainer/sergeant wake up during the night, freezing in his sleeping bag and showing early signs of hypothermia. he look around and see a burner that ran out of gas and the soldier watching it. the sergeant start yelling at the guy, to wich the soldier anwser: "it was like that when my turn came, so i watched it like you told us to do". The sergeant look around to the previous soldier guarding it: "yeah, i was watching like you told us and it eventually turn off by itself at some point".
At that point the sergeant came out of the tent, walk up to the officier in charge of the exercise and give a report along those lines: " instead of taking care of the burner and keeping the flame alive, they just stood there like frozen ******* and FU***** looked at it as it ran out of gas. I am not freezing to death because of those ****".
And that was my story about lack of initiative and self-preservation.

Terminator Armor is a militarized version of heavily armored suits used to work on live starship reactor cores. It can withstand almost anything thrown at it and turns the space marine into a walking tank. It is not a mod for regular power armor. It is also extremely rare and only chapter veterans have the honor of using it.
As for how the marines operate, they are mostly independent from the general command structure of the Imperial army. A commander may request their assistance, but it is entirely up to them if they respond and how. This particular group is on a data/tech retrieval mission. They do not want to take over the ship. They want to go in, get what they came for and get out.
The game is about storming a space hulk. These are immense planetoid-sized amalgamations of ships, rocks and various random debree mashed together in the warp. They are almost impossible to stop and usually filled with all sorts of nasty stuff. Genestealers are common, so are orks or even demons. It's not uncommon to have all three on a single hulk, locked in eternal running skirmishes.
In the original tabletop version you commanded a squad of 5 and you could go down to a single melee attack, so positioning and overwatch were a must.
Dark Angels are one of the most secretive chapters in existence. They also do not really help others all that much. If they come somewhere it's only to further their own ends, and any help they provide is mostly coincidental.
That drill is used to drill through your armor to extract your gene seed and grant you the Emperor's mercy in case you are too wounded for extraction.
Power Armor has automatic stim/antibiotic dispensers.
Exterminatus is usually performed at the behest of the inquisition. It has various forms but the end result is always rendering a planet uninhabitable.
Oh, and do play the multiplayer. It looks like tons of fun.

  • @ShadowFox178
    @ShadowFox178 3 года назад +1

I'll just cover some of lore gubbins.
The apothecary uses that drill to punch through the giant armour every space marines wears. And it's more used to retrieve geneseed as space marines are hard to put down.
How hard are space Marines to put down... Well their blood clots instantly, they can fight through trauma like losing arms or legs and they can breathe in water.
In Helsreach novel the Space Marines fight continuously without rest and the regular mortal men and commanders where more disturbed by how they didn't stop at all. They could hear the motors and fibres of the army breaking but the Space Marines where all unfazed and continuing to press the fight.
It's said you can conquer a world with just 100 space marines and a chapter can turn the course of a war entirely. They are hugely imbalanced compared to mortals.
Saying that deployments of space marines is very strictly chosen to what fields are best for them. So you end up with them widely dispersed all over the place.
Also space marines can do some insane deployments that no other fighting force could conceivably do. They could be teleported into enemy headquarters, they can be drop pod in from orbit through flack defences and crash into the ground and walk it off.
Not to mention the horror and what seeing a metal meteor smash into the ground only to have giant metal men to come out screaming, shooting with insane precision. And drop pods also get used in the middle of enemy deployments.
