BCCI missed a trick. They could have had 2 coaches, Gambhir for shorter formats and retained Dravid for Test match format.
Gambhir's tactics has back-fired big time at the Test level. I grew up watching our Sunny Bhai and always impressed with his technique playing great fast bowlers and also great spin bowlers.
Test match cricket was all good considering the transition from Sunny Bhai to Sachin era. When you look at the transition now, where Test players are playing book cricket or even T10 cricket at Test level, it definitely needs not just introspection but retrospection also.
For starters, nothing is lost now, we still have a legendary Test player like VVS in the coaching helm. If I was BCCI, I will be pro-active and draw a line for TEST match format and at least make LAXMAN as our head coach for TESTS and shorter formats is where Gambhir and his gang belongs. We also need to take a check-point and do a check-mate for our senior players and their preferences. No freakin player is bigger than the game itself. Someone like KOHLI if he prefers paternity over the country and fans expectations, with all due respects to him, let him take a voluntary retirement and not skip a whole series like he did against England.
We need a real check-mate for ROKO in particular. Even though there are talks on ASH/JADDU pair, don't forget that they have been the ones mainly contributing for our wins
at HOME and most importantly still contributing and playing decent. Please analyze last 4-5 years of track records in TESTS of ROKO vs Pujaras and Rahane's.

Success always hide flaws or mistake or blunders done .. rohit and virat are failing to play one match winning innings in test from last 3-4 years in test but due to lower middle order contribution and wins it always used to go under the carpet . And now when no one plays they are exposed . Its as simple as that .

Whatever it is Australia tour will be tough. I think mostly it is the attitude of some of the senior players is responsible for this. The fame and money they get in Ipl is making them head strong.

Many of our cricketers have accumulated substantial wealth through the IPL, which has led to a lack of passion or dedication for playing for the country. Their participation often seems driven more by the pressure from broadcasters and commercial interests rather than a true commitment to national representation.

Watching Indian 🇮🇳 batsmen struggling on home pitches was shocking. Terrible defensive technique , far too many shots offered when they could have easily left the ball .

Primarily we did lose because of our batting. But we can’t ignore the fact that our bowlers were off colour too. I mean NZ part timers bowled better line n length than our main spinners!
Our batting didn’t click wholly against England too, but bowlers saved the day there

What ails india cricket? It is the casual attitude, which any human being gets, once the pocket and stomach is full. All players are super rich, when in their 20s. Why would they bother.

When you are used to playing on flat surfaces in IPL and used to scoring at a 150+ strike rate, you will definitely fail when there is a pitch with something for the bowlers.

India wanted to play baz ball and failed 150 was chase able with two days to spare, there was t20 batting at display to be 5 for 29. A decent test match wicket will make India win when the pitch is 3 day pitch both team have equal chance, why would you do it as home team. Poor management of pitch and tactics of selection

Nothing wrong as far as batting form is concerned in respect to Rohit and Kohli. The only difference is batting in the road and batting in turners. They gel in the former and will always struggle in the latter.

Arguably the Greatest Innings played was played by Gavaskar Sir at Bangalore 1986 - 1987.
It was against spin on a minefield of a track
His last test innings in India
It was a lesson on how to play spin.
Unfortunately, Sir was wrongly given out.
I recommend our batters to watch the innings

  • @DrZohaibHidayat

I think Mr Gavaskar is dead right that white ball is the reason for batsmen's inability to tackle spin and seam on bowler's friendly wickets. Its not just Indian problem, batsmen all over the world are less technically sound as compared to batmen of the past
