Got my Polestar last week and it exceeded my high expectations, really impressed. My top 9 things I love about my Polestar - Build quality - Google OS is fantastic - The suspension setup ( I have standard suspension) - 360 camera - One pedal driving - Seats and driving position - It's fast - Spotify app - Polestar Video Player app
Just took delivery of my new PS2… exact same configuration as what you are driving, Kris. I was so intrigued by Polestar that I flew 1,500 miles to test drive one and then bought from a Polestar space 900 miles away and had it shipped. Is there a Polestar space coming to my city later this year? Yes. Could I wait? No! 😎
I have now tested the Polestar 2, Skoda Enyaq, Tesla Model 3 and VW ID4 and ended up with ordering the Polestar. Both the Enyaq and ID4 were on my list for the boot size. I prefer the looks and interior of the Enyaq compared to the ID4, but they feel quite the same and it is clear they are from the same family. The Model 3 has the same lower position I prefer in a car, but I don't know. There is something with the feel I get when i get into the Polestar which I don't get in the Model 3. Maybe that clouds my mind since the Model 3 has the range and charging network, but I charge at home and just like the more angular and relaxed feel of the P2.
@@toolrulz8005 When I tried the other cars, the Q4 was not out in Norway so I could not make a comparison. If it had been, I would for sure test it. I have since had the possibility to go for a ride in it, and based on the quality feel and looks, it is by far the one I would have chosen of the cars from the VAG group. But since I have to pay for the car myself, it is priced outside my range. The P2, with extras was 520.000 NOK (60.000 $). The ID4 with extras came to 600.000 NOK (69.500 $) and the Enyaq at 620.000 NOK (72.000 $). I was surprised that a Skoda is more expensive than a VW. And if I was going with the Enyaq, I would really like to try the RS version first, coming in 2022(?). The Q4 with extras ended much higher, closer to 700.000 NOK (81.000 $), a hefty 180.000 NOK more than the P2. But if money was free, I would most likely go with the Q4.
I agree Kris, had my polestar 2 for 7 months now. The only issue so far was a short stop at the dealer when the first OTA didn’t go through. Tested the Taycan because I thought it would be a great car for me and my wife would have the P2. The Taycan a great car in many ways but it has lots of user interface issues that bug me where the P2 just works and is logical. The range is not a real problem for me on a day to day basis and now that polestar has a good deal with ionity, longer trips will work out as well.
Just have had my first ride in P2 today and I can only say WOW! Love it! Tomorrow I’m going to test the XC40 for the day, it will be nice to compare 👍😊
The reverse / forward shifting without touching the brakes does not work when you are close to obstacles and that's where it gets dangerous. You 'think' you've shifted to the other direction but suddenly the P2 requires you to first push the brake pedal (but you overlook that warning because you drive using your 'muscle memory') and suddenly you find yourself driving in the wrong direction. It's a big flaw in the interface in my opinion.
I'd like to vote for the adaptive cruise control calibration. Follows the car in front and adjusts speed without you even noticing. Other cars I have tried maintain speed up to pre-set distance, then suddenly slow down. Polestar far more relaxing to drive.
Hei Kris. How much better is the P2 with the heat pump? I am wondering about buying a used one without the heat pump. Or is it so much better with the heat pump so I should wait for a new one?
Soon to be available in Australia... any thoughts on the best specification... wondering if the single motor, short range optioned with pilot pack and comfort pack is enough or do you need the long range option?
i love my polestar 2 too, when it‘s not in the workshop. since the digital key update, my car is with the volvo dealer, since 2 weeks straight. Comm-module is shot. Can‘t charge car on ac, they have no clue what‘s wrong.
I'm surprised about you liking the seats. We were testing a polestar for a weekend and though my father is hellbent on buying one (and I support his decision) he didn't like the seats. I didn't mind the seats but when I returned the polestar and switched to my fathers Ford I got what he ment by that.
There's currently no other option than to purchase the files and have them 3D printed yourself (by a friend or a local makerspace or even a site that offers this service, like Craftcloud). I do realize that many people would like to buy it ready-made, though. I have also improved the design a lot, compared to the one I sent to Kris (which you can see in this video).
I have actually updated the design of the cup holder now, so it is larger and has a mechanism that makes it grip variable size cups and bottles equally well.
The only really annoying thing about the infotainment system is that you are not allowed to play media from USB. I have a lot of music files i love to have with me in the car, and i know you can use Bluetooth, sporty ect. but it's not the same.
Thank you! So you think skipping simple options that cost nothing is a good thing in the name of 2021? Why not keep the functionality for those who loves it?. Playing digital media in a modern car is that too demanding?
@@Debrha Well, yes it do cost both in development and because every implemented feature has a risk of failure and then they have to pay to fix it for you. Having media on USB is such an old sollution many people abandoned it ten years ago when smart phones came. Most people must have abandoned it today. Just put your media on your phone and play via bluetooth, if you don't stream.
You don't have the same functionality when using Bluetooth. You have to pick up your phone to select the music you want to hear. The sound quality could also be affected.
it is really a big miss. a i understand that M3/tesla can do it, and i´m doing it for 10 years now. no i did not dropped is because the integration with my v50 (2 cars) en V60 (current car) is so nice, don't want to play with Bluetooth while driving. just plugged in a small 32GB usb stick en your gone for the rest of the cars life cycle. delivery

@@abrahamgillesdejager6852 But still thirsty. The consumption in winter (below 0 C) is wild - about 30 kwh/100 km. And it may vary alot among similar cars - why I really don't know, but it seems that there is som kind of issue with this. The two electrical motors are similiar - thats a bad design move when it comes to EV's. Look at Tesla and VW - they both use different motors in front and rear. Polestar has a lot going for it, but they should redesign the drive train.
Nice car but the range is not good, its to thirsty for me. My 2018 Ampera-e uses less Energy then the polestar. At 500.000 nok there are better cars out there i think. Ioniq5, ev6, ID4, Enyaq, Audi Q4. And tm3 LR.
A Toyota Yaris uses less energy than a BMW M3. That doesn’t mean it’s a better car. 😉 Seriously, the Polestar 2 has about the same range as the Ampera-e (actually better according to WLTP and NAF winter test) and it charges WAY faster (up to 3x). It also does everything else better. Sorry. 😬 The 2022 model on sale now gets a heat pump BTW.. I’d choose the Polestar 2 over any of the cars you list here, if it wasn’t for the luggage space.. My choice would therefore have to be the ID.4 GTX with Topsport interior or the Q4 50 quattro Editon One. EDIT: But then again, both of these cost more than a fully loaded Polestar 2. And they are still not as fast and they don’t have as good infotainment system.

The “great car, not a great EV” is one of the most used memes in internet echo chambers, BTW.. 😏 With any EV, or ICE car for that matter, it’s always a trade off between efficiency and other properties. Because it’s all about physics. Don’t be fooled. The perfect EV doesn’t exist. There will always be an EV with either more space or practicality, better off road capabilities, faster accelleration, longer range, better track performance, better comfort, less cabin noise, lower price, more equipment etc. And then comes looks, perceived quality, heritage and feelings.. 🙂 These are the areas where most “great EVs” fall short. Luckily people have different needs and preferences. But there’s no need to be over exaggerating the “shortcomings” of the Polestar 2 and certain other “thirsty” EV’s. My experience is that they more than make up for it in other areas.
Whoever designed the central console of this car should be fired :) Absolutely, useless. It was probably designed for a single front passenger in mind.

I would have been fine with the shifter being placed somewhere else or use as buttons if it meant a better centre console with cup holders.
Volvo (Polestar) seats are by far the best in the industry. When my back is hurt, setting in them for a while makes my back better!
Mine is predicted for delivery within the next two weeks, i'm even more excited now! (I went with the ventilated seats too, they look SO good.)
What cup holder did you install by the touchscreen? Looks like it works well and one of my big gripes with the Polestar is the cup holder situation
