      Thanks MrCods, and yeah definitely. I think that all the promotion about catch and release over the last few years has really started to rub off on the younger generations which is great to see. Cheers for the comment mate 👍

      @@steiny3353 Graham Itzstein Hey mate! Yeah I've been so frustrated, I have a lot of footage to post but haven't had much time to get it up! 😕 between university, sport, and work, I've been absolutely flat out lately. I finally posted a new video a couple of days ago and have another one coming this week hopefully. Went for a fish last night and got some huge Whiting. Thanks for the comment mate I really appreciate the thought to check up on me. How have you been mate?

    • @Lucifurion
      @Lucifurion 2 месяца назад

      They had to. It’s not legal size. Dusky flatties have to be over 40 and under 75. I always throw back anything under 60cm. All other flathead species must be over 30cm and don’t have an upper size limit. All species have a bag limit of 5 total. The only reason you throw fish back is if it’s illegal to keep them, you don’t drag fish out of the water for catch and release, that’s sadistic and narcissistic. Either hunt for food or find another hobby.

    Hell yeah bro!!! Nice to see the Sunny Coast get some love. I’m in Nambour and love getting out to wet a line. I’ve had some good luck up the Mooloolah river, some tasty bream and some monster lizards. Some great dinners have come out of that river.

      @@Lucifurion Hey mate thanks heaps for the comment! I filmed this video agesssss ago. I need to get back out there and give it another crack soon because as you said, there are some awesome fish in that river! It’s awesome that you’ve had some epic session in there! I’d love to chase Jacks in there too and I’m 99% sure I saw a Barra one day… people get the odd Barra in there these days 😅 Tight lines bro and I’m glad you enjoy fishing the Mooloolah 👌

    • @willkitching
      @willkitching  3 года назад

      G’day mate, I was using a Squidgies soft plastic ‘fish’ in the killer tomato colour. I think it was about 95mm. I’m not sure if they still make them but anything will work, flathead aren’t fussy!

  • @pp-legend2227
    @pp-legend2227 2 года назад +1

    Hey what were you using mate?

    • @willkitching
      @willkitching  2 года назад

      Hey mate, in terms of lures we were using soft plastics on a 1/4 ounce jighead, with a Squidgies ‘fish’ plastic in killer tomato colour. Since this session though I have started using a lot of Zman Minnowz (3inch paddle tails). They are a lot tougher and fish love them. I rig them on a 1/4 ounce jighead with a 3/0 hook.
      I use 8-10lb braid with 14 lb fluorocarbon leader.
      I hope this helps mate, if you have any other questions feel free to fire away! Tight lines! 🎣

      Hey mate, it's one of the canals that Brisbane road goes over, near 'Jetts Mooloolaba' (you will see the canals on google earth/maps). These have sand edges and you can walk pretty much the whole way around the edges! Tight lines I hope you get onto some. Sometimes I have to do a lot of casts before catching one and sometimes don't catch anything there hahah but it's fun when you do! Cheers 👍🎣

    Hey mate, what lures do you use when targeting trev’s?

    • @willkitching
      @willkitching  4 года назад +1

      G'day mate, thanks for watching and commenting! 🎣 Trevs can be caught on paddle tail soft plastics hopped on the bottom or if you know there is a school of Trevally there just wind it through them. They'll also hit poppers and stickbaits on the surface, especially if they are busting up and splashing on the surface. People also get them on hardbodies, even as by catch when fishing for Mangrove Jack. As you can probably tell they will eat pretty much anything that's like a baitfish, it's more about finding areas where they hang out and you'll get some 😁 they love structure and usually hang around canals and rivers, like rockwalls, pontoons, bridges, etc.
      Hope this helps mate if you have any other questions just let me know! 🎣🔥 Good luck !
