- The Reekon Tomahawk T1... Ive been waiting for this bad boy to arrive since I ordered it on Kickstarter (December 2022). While it may not be as WORLD IMPACTING as the iPhone was when it was released, its the only comparison I can draw. Before the iPhone, we thougth we only deserved flip phones. Reekon aims to make a similar splash with tape measures here. Is this another case of "You didnt know you needed something better?" or Is it over the top? Lets unbox this thing and find out.

Got mine today. This is the most polished product I've ever received on kickstarter. Very well done. This thing has some serious heft to it too. The holster reminds me of a gun holster---not just a cheap, crappy, thown-in-the-box accessory. Would've been a cherry on top to have a laser for measuring.

Not explicitly tracking who will get their orders, when, is a pretty weird choice, considering all the (understandable) delays?
Uncle Jay ordered in Dec 2022 and has theirs, yet my order placed in June 2022 still isnt in....
"Due to the complexities and dynamic nature of logistics, we do not have a way to forecast individual orders beyond the schedule below." For 5000 units to have been shipped, and by your update, arrived at their locations (or at least notified the backers they have shipped), I suppose I can assume that I was not in that initial 5000 stateside deliveries. As backer 702, having 4300 other people get their orders before me is another extreme frustration added to this process.
I initially planned that this would be a Christmas gift in 2022, but now it appears as if it might not even be one for Christmas 2023.
I got mine in the mail about the same time you did. I was surprised when it come thru the mail. I cant wait to use mine on DIY projects at my house

Thanks for the video. I am also waiting for mine in Europe. Good to see that you have. What about precision? What about battery life? Display visibility in poor light? Display visibility from different angle? Pros, Cons after using more days? Nice video, but contains no additional infromation what we have already known. Thanks in advance to your time if you answer.

No it came with it. Question - when you purchased yours, did you think that it fed the tape mechanically out on its own (Like with a motor)? I sorta did and feel like I should have paid closer attention. Awesome product. Wouldnt trade it for what I paid for it.
@@UncleJay2k Thanks for the response. I still haven't gotten mine yet. It should arrive at the port today. I believe mine was delayed because I added some accessories to my order. Those were shipped last My order was like two hundred and something. I got the M1 a few years ago and love it. Can't wait till mine get here. I was originally told that it came with a basic holster, but nothing looks basic about it. We will see. If it's the same one that it comes with, I'm going to send a nasty gram because I followed up after I saw it on one of their videos and inquired about it. I also ordered an extra tape. I should have left all that off and I would have mine by now. Oh well.
What are your thoughts now that you've had it for a few months? I have no need for yet another tape measure, but this thing is calling my name! Would love to hear how it's holding up for you!
GREAT question. I think its a great tool, I definitely dont utilize it as well as I could, and I wish it had a better method for charging? or a cradle to place it in for charing? BUT - I use it as often as possible lol!! Please help out the channel and subscribe.

Its just another homeowner gadget. Super cool today, in the bottom of the tool box for the rest of time. Like most gadgets. I'm sure you won't be seeing this on jobsites for the most part. None of these tools are very practical in the real world. I don't see anyone whipping out their motorized tape measures anymore. Bet you didn't even know that was a thing. Just push a button and out it comes and here it comes. There are things I like about it in my home for personal use but out in the field, not so sure. Put this bad boy right on the shelf next to the lazer photo hanger.
I appreciate your opinion - but do you often buy tools that you don't use? I don't, or at least try not to.. Don't get me wrong - there's a level of tools for everyone.. For you, a hammer, a screw driver, and $5.00 tape measure may be all that's needed for the random once a year project.. But others operate at different levels. I typically don't buy tools that I "never" use. Yes - auto tape measures have been around for a long while, they also have their place. Very often innovation comes along with seemingly unnecessary features and options searching for a foothold - but when they land, and take off - entire market sectors can change. It was only like - 15 years ago when people said things like "Who needs a camera on a phone?" or "Who need email on a phone?". Also - laser levels (what you called a lazer photo hanger) are AWESOME - USE YOURS MORE!! LOL.
@@UncleJay2k I don’t buy tools I never use. I’m one to give it a try as I always do just saying most new innovations fizzle away and your always back to the tried and true that’s been around for ages. As a home remodeler and a mechanic for 35 years. I tried most things. Even the Johnson fishing machine, musta fizzle away
I agree with this sentiment - even the idea that MOST attempts at innovation dont catch on.. But - when they do, sometimes things change for the better. Great convo by the way! Thanks for the stimulating conversation.

WOW! That sucks, mine came with it - BUT that may have been part of the KickStarter package I got? Not 100% sure. Either way - the product is STILL worth it without the holster IMO.

Never understood unboxing videos. It's sort of like showing people how to wash their new underwear for the first time...
I get it - think about it like this, you’re on the fence about buying something - maybe it’s the unknown quality, contents, perceived value, etc - unboxing a can help a person decide. OR if it’s a complex item - it could build confidence in one’s self to make the purchase. Or maybe it’s just a result of our insane “buy buy buy” culture and we’re so addicted to “stuff” we watch other people getting their “stuff” so we can get our dopamine hit.
