Would love another video demo of this! I'm tempted to pull the trigger. I love the phone recording as well, it's honest! More higher gain and lead work. Great playing as well man
Sounds great, I think I like it slightly better than the 35 watter I have. Slightly less gain and compression, yet can still get heavy. More versatile IMHO as well.
man - SAME. I got the IRX and run it through my Marshall and it sounds absolutely amazing. I'm thinking I could get the Bogner and use the IRX for if I want Friedman tone? Maybe an idea for yourself - Bogner are really the other side of the coin to Friedman .
Great stuff, nice quick run-through. It certainly sounds much more like a pre-2004 XTC than the previous iteration. Now, if there was only a way to cut down a metal-panel to fit...
How different is the gain on it to the 35 watter? My favourite was the blue channel dined with the boost on. I also felt that in gigging situations, I had the preamp volumes past 12 o clock it got a bit spongey and less defined…perhaps I was cranking it too much. Really want this 50 watt one though as my original got stolen!!
Thanks for sharing! I love the smaller heads for easier gigging. Im looking for something smaller than my full size soldanos and marshall. I think this might be a great gigging amp! Does the clean channel get kinda dirty/pushed with the gain up?
Excellent playthrough, it sounded great! The Suhr 2x12 is a cool combo of speakers and sounds really good with this amp too. I got to get one of these!! Can anyone whose played this and the new Friedman JEL 20 watt provide a comparison? I know 50 watts vs. 20, just wondering.
Thanks! Everything was in the N position. This amp is much more balanced and the middle position with my cab sounds awesome. Suhr PT 2x12 with a Greenback and a V30.
Hi. Have you had the chance to compare the 3534 50w (maybe the 50w name is 3550?) to the 101b? I don't know whether to buy the 50 or the 101b! I just play at home but I have the Fryette PS2A (super attenuator).
Can the Red channel do modern style metal? I'm an old school guy, grew up in thr 70s, 80s and 90s but I do like to play some heavy style like Alice in Chains up to stuff like Slipknot. I have a Bogner 20th Anniversary Shiva I love and I wasn't as big a fan of the 35 watt 3435 but I hear this 50 watt head feels more like the 100 watt head. Bigger and more muscular. Does it take boosts well to get metal tones? Have you compared or played other similar amps by Friedman or Orange for example? I have always been a Bogner guy. Thanks man!
It will get heavy for sure man. I put a Klon style boost on the red channel and get there easily, I also used an Xotic BB pre-amp OD and it was heavy. It can really do it all.
@@TheToneBarn I just have to figure out if it is worth it since I have a Shiva already. Always wanted an ecstacy and this is the first smaller XTC that is said to sound and feel like the 100 watt head.
Can this new version get more scooped for heavy rhythm on the blue channel, stuff like A/C D/C Whitesnake etc? I could never get this out of the regular 3534. The red channel was good for leads. Thanks for any info before I order.
The blue channel can do anything. From AC/DC to Early Metallica. It's a combo of the onboard boost, or maybe a blend of the gain at 10 o'clock and a boost pedal. It's really going to depend on your guitar. I get great tones at noon on the gain and using either the onboard boost or a compressor pedal or a boost. It's endless the possibilities. Check out Incognito guitars, see if they have it in stock. The shipping was super quick.
Great video.
Thanks for analyzing this amp for us. You make this amp sound incredible. Loving it.
Would love to hear a comparison video of those two bogners! Very curious about the 3534 vs 3534 50 watt.

Great amp, V30's do well with this amp. Yes, it can do metal. Front loaded ENGL cab and it thumps hard, very hard. Sounds and feels like a 100 watter.

Trying to decide between this Bogner Ecstasy 50 or the Friedman BE 50 Deluxe. Bogner has the boost channels and it's about $1,000 cheaper

I would love a metal grill!
great job man! nice amp!

Not really it's very clean, but it takes pedals well. It has the 3 way bright switch that make it super easy to dial in.
cool video....i've had my eye on the 50 watt XTC....any complaints so far? How's the FX loop? Quieter than the 3534 35W I hope!
Loop is perfect, no complaints so far!
But can it do 90s metal?

I had the JEL20 and sold it 5 days later. The Bogner in my opinion much more usable. The JEL was harsh and the gain modes were brittle.
Great demo, thanks for posting! How did you have the pre-eq switches set for blue/red channels? Tried zooming in but couldn’t tell.

The 50 watt should be the 5034 as the 34 denotes the el34 valves used and the first two numbers are the wattage.

@@TheToneBarnThanks, I have a 20th Ann Shiva and thinking if getting the XTC 50 makes sense. Thanks.

What does "more musical" mean? In what way?
The 50 watt blooms more, chords ring a little clearer. That's my take at least.
@@TheToneBarn ok gotcha now, I just didn't understand what you meant

@@TheToneBarn Thanks for the reply and information.
Also! The intro are you using this amp on the riffs?
That was just a demo track I did during covid and I used for the intro to avoid any copyright issues. You dig?
