I'm inclined to agree because I wasn't the biggest fan of Colors and don't like their stuff before Colors, but they really killed it with these two tracks. I have a hunch that I'll have a new appreciation for Colors after listening to the sequel a bit.

For sure, like anything colors forward, it's hard to pick out just one song, the album is best listened to as a whole, needs to be put into context with the rest of the album. But this is certainly one of the highlights of this particular album.. which btw is friggin immaculate

I like how the passion is back in Tommy’s screams. He was leaning very heavily on technique alone in the past few albums IMO. The days of Alaska and Colors were chalk-full of aggression and passion.
I felt like his screams were much better on Automata also. While they are my two favorite albums from these guys, TGM and Parallax II we're pretty flat on that front.

Also had some of his best vocal phrasing on the screams. Monotone? I could see that. Though I guess that's always been apparent on their albums imo. More times than others.

They sound like they’re having a blast on this one! I love it!!! Is this a call back to informal gluttony in the beginning? I swear it’s the same structure but they took a more dissonance approach on the guitar licks! Ok the hook/chorus is fantastic. Jesus this might literally be colors 2 in terms of pure energy, experimentation and just the insane movements going on here
While I enjoyed CE and Automata I & II, I didn’t think they reached the level of Parallax II for me personally. After hearing Fix the Error I thought we’d be getting another album that, at best, would be on par with CE / A I &II. However, after hearing this song, I now have hope that this album will be tremendous if we get more writing at this level. This may be the best song they’ve released since Parallax II.
Big TGM/Coma vibes here. The clean verses sound straight out of coma and then everything else has that chaotic and experimental TGM sound, particularly the last half. Loooooove it
The cleans on this one remind me more of Automata than Coma personally. More than anything though it does feel like a Colors sequel. I still do hear influence from TGM and Parallax. Basically something for fans of every album here.
I've been playing guitar for 25+ years, I don't think I'll ever be able to play a BTBAM song... Maybe that's one of the reasons why they're so great Honestly the most underappreciated band of all time, give them all the love you can
I don't mean this in a rude way but years mean nothing. You could say you have played for 9 years but only play a few times or week for a short period or even less. While your on your PC gaming, or watching tv etc, people like Paul waggoner are practicing and honing their craft. If you really want to play a btbam song, pick one and start practicing. Practice one section until perfect, then the next and the next. You say 25 years but how many hours? The years are not important, buy the time and dedication to the craft. The other thing even if you are playing a lot, are you sticking with the same old simple licks and songs. So many blues players etc can't play very fast and it's because blues is rather simple. It you want to get faster, push yourself and practice fast licks, sweeps, arpeggios etc
This reminds me of that ANGELMAKER song where they play some Spanish flamenco shit at the end of the song after being all loud and noisy. I fully support this.

Shifting between genres , time signatures and vocal styles ..its.just the absolute epitome of prog imo . And Blake is absolutely one of the best drummers on earth.
