    Actually, the bootlegger thing got started in 1960 late in the Presidential campaign. A privately published pamphlet by a Birchite was circulating claiming this, referencing somebody named Kennedy who was once arrested for rum running during prohinition, between Canada an the U.S. The hope was in the short time before the election it would not be found out that this person was not, and no relation to, the candidate's father, and the election would be swayed. Didn't work, and it was forgotten until the 70's, when it was resurrected by certain scurrilous pseudo-journalists and various mis/dis-informationalists.

    It's hard enough to establish the motives of people for their actions in the present day - those people who we know well. We aren't to know the true motives, intentions, beliefs etc of people like Joseph Kennedy.
    The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and his children gave their lives, some figuratively and some literally for the greater good.
    It is not for us to judge him, or anyone for that matter.

    I was born in 1960, and never cared for Nixon, but I will say THIS: a Nixon win may have kept us out of Vietnam. Sure-he was a McCarthyist, but he was less reckless. JFK's attitude was that nobody was going to out-anti-Communist him. He did Nothing to stop the Bay of Pigs adventure. He wanted Castro out, regardless of what Cubans wanted. In a similar vein, he really overreacted to the Cuban Missiles. WE had missiles pointing at the USSR in Afghanistan and Turkey, but they Dare not do that to US! I was two years old at the time, but my Late Dad worried that I'd never see Three (due to Nuclear holocaust.) He was a Smart Scientist and also knew that the ICBM was around the corner anyhow (as well as Trident missiles) so the whole thing was Moot. He didn't want a massive US troop buildup in 'Nam, but increased the advisors there to 20,000.
    On Civil rights, Kennedy said little and did nothing. Johnson wasn't Great on that issue in Texas, but he DID get the national legislation passed in 1964.

    • @drpoundsign
      @drpoundsign 6 лет назад +1

      If Nixon had lost in '64, we could have had a Good Democrat, or maybe JFK, at that time. More importantly, Nixon would not have been president later in the sixties, expanded the War to Cambodia and Laos, and been brought down by Watergate.

      Kennedy let the CIA plan and execute the Bay of pigs fiasco. They didn't do their homework and we had no moral right to overthrow Catro anymore than when we sent in 42,000 marines to overthrow a legally elected government in the Dominican Republic in April, 1965!!! Both parties have been guilty of our shameful foreign policy particularly in this hemisphere!!!!

    Please don't be disappointed with me if you can avoid it, but I have vast material disproving the views proposed in this video. The author above may revise his conclusions as much as he wishes, but he won't convince anyone unless he also does this for the evidence others have chosen to base their conclusions on. This is nothing personal at all. I have access to a corpus of information on this topic and the balance is not in this author's favor.

    So in other words you have absolute faith in "journalism" when it supports a notion that happens to please you and dismiss it on the other hand as "manipulation" and "propaganda" when it seeks to debunk that notion. Interesting contradiction, but I guess any circle can be squared in the mind some folks.

    Is there any other family out there to talk about in this country? Who decided the Kennedys were the Royalty of America. Joseph Kennedy was a Son of Patrick Kennedy who owned a Pub/ Bar after this family left Ireland. Joe was accepted at Harvard and was kept out of the Brahman clubs because of his background. It.drove him so angry that it motivated him into making loads of money. First as a bootlegger of liquor , then went into banking , became a huge supporter Of FDR. Became Ambassador to St James in Britain. Much more to the story. Had connections to the underworld and became the Rich Royalty of America.. This family has a lot of scandalous history too. But so does The Monarchy of Britain especially lately. So I thought you were born into being a Royal across the world.. Guess not here since we don’t have Kings and Queens , but Presidents and First Ladies. Please find another Family since is been way to long talking about this one..
