    @larzooma Год назад +21

    I've been talking about them. I'm a Celtics fan, but an NBA fanatic in general. The Nets are one of the most exciting teams this year for what they could be. Take that team from the end of last year, add an All NBA Defense level or more player in Ben Simmons coming back to form, and this team is going to be a problem. Claxton is a potential DPOY level player, along with two of the best role players in the league in Dinwiddie and Finney-Smith. They picked up really solid players in Smith jr. and Walker IV. So many teams with a question mark on how good they're going to be not how bad. This season is going to be exciting.

      @@luisescobar5187 Definitely agree. I love the Rockets this year. I'm calling it now, but Jabari reminds me of a young KG. He's got a bag man. Between Paolo, Chet, and Smith jr. I think the top of that draft is going to look like one of the best in a few years. Plus I like the Van Fleet and Brooks signings. Van Fleet had an off year, but what he brings to that locker room beyond what he does on the floor is going to be worth every penny. Plus Brooks has another chance to prove himself. He made an All Defense team last year. People forget through the noise. Add in Thompson and Whitmore to the promising young core they already had and this team has a ton of potential.

    As a fan that quit watching all sports after the KD and Kyrie trade, nothing exciting about the Nets.
    Here’s why they are not exciting:
    1980-1981: Oh man the Nets stink but they have a great future 24-58. Build through the draft and I’m confident we’ll be a consistent contender in the future.
    1981-1982: Oh my goodness we shocked the NBA world going 44-38 what a future we have.
    1982-1983: Wow we are doing the right thing keeping the team together without elite stars. Look at our 49-33 record. We’ll definitely improve to being a 1 or 2 seed next year. Our gm is a great drafter.
    1983: We regressed going 45-37, but it was this and that. We’ll be better next year.
    1984-1985: We finished 42-40 we’re trying but it’s hard to maintain consistency.
    1985-1986: At least we made the playoffs with a 39-43 record.
    1986-1987: We’re not going to be a contender for at least another 5 years.
    Rinse and repeat followed by rinse and repeat followed by rinse and repeat.
    No 1 seed, No over 50 win seasons during that time, No conference title, and No NBA title.
    Any rebuilding years prior to those winning years were a waste, because they didn’t accomplish 1 meaningful thing during those winning years, not one.
    They did the same thing in the 90s, most of 2000s, all of the 2010s, and now again.
    Let’s face it they are a mediocre franchise where you have to split hairs to convince of future hope. This current Nets team is no different than any other past rebuilding Nets teams where fans claimed false hope of a better future.

No superstar (maybe after having three of them and it turning into a pig’s breakfast disabused them of that way of operating), great chemistry, leadership along with solid talent. If they win big, I think it will demonstrate a way that franchises can build a sustainable and winning team and organization. What if a team has a roster of manageable contracts, marketable talent with proven experience? A team that can be good if not great for a long time - so long as management stays on the ball. That is kind of a pun, but staying on the ball comes from railroads.

    Kind of a blessing in disguise that KD and Kyrie and of course Harden are all gone. They aren’t a media magnet anymore and can just ball out with minimal outside factors. They are building good core right now.
    If Simmons is able to have a comeback season I think this team is gonna be a real problem in the east, especially with so many stars out west now.
