Did your stock cubby have the info screen underneath it? Where it shows the time and temperature etc?

How did you pull or (take out) out the cubby part?

I've got an '05 LL Bean with the Automatic Climate Control. I swapped in the MP3 capable radio years back but I'd love to have a hardwired Bluetooth input. Does the '07 Head unit fit well and match colors? I know the buttons and knobs are a little different.
GROM makes a slick Bluetooth streaming/handsfree calling unit that ties into the 07+ headunit and allows for skipping tracks via the steering wheel.
Just gotta find an 07 head unit!

05 -> 07: you'd never know it's not meant to be there. Same colors and interface.

@@justaddafan you rock thanks! There’s a pick and pull nearby with an 08 Legacy Limited (auto climate control) if the head unit is there I’m grabbing it tomorrow!

How was it supported ? Did it come with some sort of frame that you had to harness to the vents ?

    • @justaddafan
      @justaddafan  3 года назад +2

Hi, it is bolted into the support that was formerly occupied by the cubby.

Cheers ! And I noticed in a recent video you have put that new infotainment (with air vent) into your car now, is that due to this one breaking or issues faced with this unit ? / how did you find this unit ?

@@cameronmcwhirter4810 I just liked the larger screen and I wasn't satisfied with the look of the installation of the smaller unit. No issues with the unit.

Do you have a link to the wire harness to keep the stock radio working as well

Which head unit did you do. And would you be able to show like how you hooked it up and wired it?

The system is the Podofo B07QJG2D2G. It's a generic unit sold by many different companies on Amazon and Ebay.
The camera is a Xroose IP69K. It was a little more expensive, but it's got a great picture in both light and dark. I tried a couple of cheaper units and they were really poor in the dark.
I didn't get any pictures of the wiring before I put it together.
For the infotainment, it's pretty straight forward. If you want to avoid splicing wires like I did, you can get a wiring harness that runs between the body harness and the head unit and splice from that. The antenna is a separate harness that can be wired similarly.
For the camera, the biggest thing to pay attention to is to make sure you seal the gap or hole that you use to run the camera wire from outside the car to the inside.

I would have used teh yellow wire on the radio harness for live and red for switched.
