I would like to say a big thank you to this channel and the producer of this video. I was about to go crazy with this EOS M50 Mark II. Thanks to this video I didn't throw it at the wall and destroy it! You gained a subscriber. Thank you very much...... From the bottom of my heart very grateful. Big arm from me, Mr Marcelo Mello and from the @TUDOENSINO channel.
I have a canon m50 and was wondering how to use it for live streaming and remote recording in general with my computer, so your step by step explanation with pros & cons was very helpful to me. Thanks!
Best Video i have found for this canon problem. Your video popped up last in my search, It should have been first. You really really did a GREAT job explaining and showing everything. Thank you for making this video
I have a problem where when I minimize my remote live window (EOS Utility software) the obs windows scene freezes. It seems like I have to have the eos utility app opened on screen for it to work. Any way around that?
Great video. Can you tell me now to disable the "time out " feature on the Canon M50? I am connecting the M50 to OBS via Cam Link , and after a couple of seconds, the screen for the M50 on OBS goes black, and I have to hit the "info" button on the Canon M50 , to make it appear again. Can you tell me now to get it to not "go to sleep" so frequently ? Thank you!
On a mac there is a program call Camera Live that works with the M50 to provide a “Clean HDMI” and prevents the auto shutoff. There is also a program for Windows that does it but I don’t remember the name.
@@LegendGary213 I completely switched over to ECAMM Live because Camera Live will only work with one Canon camera and I have 3. ECAMM handles this beautifully and also lets me add in my 3 IOS devices.
There is a way how to avoid 30m limitations... you should plug in the USB cable with HDMI at the same time the same PC... but for streaming use only HDMI + Capture card. So 30min limit will no longer repeat. But thanks anyway good content
I'm using a micro HDMI on the camera to my capture card for streaming in Streamlabs obs but it still turns off after 30 mins, if you have a moment can you help me out on this? I'm not sure if this is your answer but i still don't quite understand it ):
Sir you need to do more videos, I like your smooth low tone way of teaching things. I really appreciate it. Lastly, I did not see the link for the "dummy battery pack" can you please provide us with the link on where it can be found and before I forget can you provide us your PC or Mac specs to see if ours fall in line to use the 1st Method. Gracias compa.
I have updated the link to the AC adapter ( bit.ly/2Kj7nQP ) that includes the dummy battery. Yeah, My specs for my PC are listed in this PC partpicker list. ( pcpartpicker.com/list/2d6wkd )Thanks man, And i appreciate you spending time watching the video.
If you are using HDMI then connect the other port to a usb port. If you use both the HDMI and usb simultaneously this works. This only works with HDMI.
I plan to use method 1 with my M50 to livestream a q&a video on my channel. I've never done this before, so forgive the naive question, but what would be the EASIEST (I'm old) program to use to bring this feed to my channel but still have the best quality possible on a 3Mbps upload speed? OBS, StreamYard...? Thanks in advance, and thank you for this vid!
Download the EOS Webcam Utility 1.1 if you're using a usb cable. Downloading this will show eos as a video source directly on obs. This helps avoid the window freezing issue with window capture.
I use method two (Elgate Camlink 4k), and the feed from the camera freezes after a few seconds. If I change the camera settings in OBS.. it goes active again and I can see the feed, but then freezes within 2-5 seconds again. any ideas what could fix this? ~Thanks!
People keep saying this and I’ve seen no evidence on my end even on the phone with canon that this works, is there some kind of settings you have to have in OBS because I’ve been using OBS for a year with no problem with my logitech and as soon as I try to put in my M50 nothing on my screen it’s a black screen with nothing on it no matter what I do even if it’s showing up in EOS.
If you have the Canon Webcam Utility installed in your computer, when you select video source in OBS it should appear "Canon Webcam Utility" as source. Select it and that's it! :)
Question! So I don’t have to buy the Elgato capture card? I can pretty much get the same quality using the free EOS from canon? How do I hook up the camera to the computer using method 1? MicroUsb to USB? Or? Thanks!!
Yeah correct, So you'll use the EOS utility software and use microUSB to usb for method 1. Canon recently released the Canon eos webcam utility that makes the camera into a webcam without going through all these hoops. However that software is currently in beta right now.
LegendGary323 can anyone get the beta? And is method 2 going to be way much better than method 1? Thanks!:) I’m hoping to get an m50 but I know I’ll need the power cord to have continuous power
@@PhiferFootball Yes, it is a open beta. Ive been planning on doing a video about the beta software. And will depend due to both pros and cons. I will say new method 3 the new Canon webcam utility beta is very promising. And thanks for watching
it's a great video, and very informative. Do you have any advice about the little delay on OBS when using method one? Do you have a specific kind of micro USB?
Thank you! This video is kinda old now, Canon has released a much better way to use your camera as a webcam in OBS. It is called Canon Webcam utility which is the better way. With this utility you just use a USB to your camera and connect in OBS using the Canon Webcam utility in the drop down of the video sources. If you still having delay issue, at least with my experience with EOS R, if i use face tracking or eye track AF it causes delay. i use either single point or the large box AF. I hope this helps.
I did everything you mentioned here and my video is a little grainy and pixelated. How do I solve this? The camera screen is clear as can be but the computer screen/obs has a slightly blurred picture. Please help
you cannot use the alt shrink medthod on the window on the new macbook pro 2020 because they replaced the alt button with an option key and the option key doesn work..
I will broadcast to zoom, trial show bad audio - I believe due to the cpu etc consumptions mentioned as con in video. My classes are longer than 30 mins ie I need to go for usb solution. What tweaks and settings can I do to improve the resource situation? Thanks for great vid!
Thank you helped me a lot, I had been searching a ton of videos. The problem I had was when I connected my camera and installed the drivers but in obs it doesnt show my external camera option it is just showing my old camera. Now in method one had to use windows capture instead of video capture
Go to settings folder and DELETE EVERYTHING. Then reboot and open OBS it will be like starting over. Then, instead of adding old camera just follow this tutorial
Hi good video... I din't understand if is possibile to record 4k video with canon m50 and elgato camlink 4k on obs, becouse on elgato official site web they wrote, max resolution out 1080p it's true or false?
I have a MacBook Pro w/Touch Bar and there is not an ALT key, I try using the alternative word “option key” and still won’t let me minimize my video screen. Is there anyway to fix this problem, or is it just the laptop I have?
Appreciate the tips man. I been doing capture in a capture window with this. My biggest issue even with a beefy pc is the crashing of the program. M50 weather on cam link or utility both cause the camera stream to crash and I dont know how to fix it and it's all random. Sometimes its 2 hours other minutes. I am running with USB from canon to computer, and the video is great, but no audio. I'm lost as to what I need to do. I tried adding it, but it doesn't even show up anywhere
I downloaded the webcam utility and it apparently doesn't exist on my computer. I went into my Control Panel and in the program and features area it comes up but I cannot find the program outside of the control panel
I know it’s been almost a year now but , dose anyone know if this camera will auto shut off with both methods or just the second one ? Also is the micro usb to usb or micro usb to HDMI ? Thanks !
Hey, thanks! So these method aren't the best method anymore ever since Canon released their Canon EOS webcam Utility. I made this video before they released that software. I suggest downloading that and installing that. Its a much better and cleaner solution through USB, the way it works is whatever program you're trying to use set the source to the EOS webcam utility in said program just as if you were to set a normal webcam as the source.
