Hey Kris, at 14:15 you mentioned never liking Thor comics..broo. You’re missing out on some of the most epic stories. Do yourself a favour and go read the GOD OF THUNDER SERIES. Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic’s work trumps anything that has come out of the MCU lately. Also read the Gorr Godbutcher saga because what Taika did with Love and Thunder is just criminal.

  • @paulhitchcock2543

I think Filoni is covering because Lucasfilm is scared to take a hard stance on anything right now. Basically I think he’s lying either because he’s worried about blowback or because there are future story elements that require a certain level of ambiguity around Ahsoka’s journey in episode 5. But the final scene of the series lets us know that Ahsoka’s journey in episode 5 was real, it was not a dream.
Based on everything we’ve seen through Filoni’s storytelling, Ahsoka makes her way into the World Between Worlds and there she meets with her former master, a redeemed Anakin Skywalker. And he does that because Ahsoka is at a critical juncture and as seen in the OT, when Luke is having these critical moments, Obi-Wan shows up to provide some guidance to help Luke get over that obstacle. Now Anakin being Anakin, he’s not just going to appear, he’s going to yank Ahsoka into a place where he can interact with her in a more visceral way. Cause it’s Anakin and he’s anything but traditional.

@@mnoir7257 Same here, I really wanted to enjoy MOM. I thought Dr Strange was one of the most original MCU “origin” films, which actually stoked my interest in the Infinity Saga. I’m also a huge fan of Sam Raimi, due primarily to Army of Darkness being a genuine masterpiece without equal.
That said, Raimi frequently gets “stuck” on certain tangents? The quality of Raimi will often vasillate between stellar and meh. Raimi has directed phenomenal films like his Evil Dead series, but has also directed some questionable films, like Darkman or Oz? Consider just his Spider Man films? SM and SM 2 were excellent, then came SM 3, and everyone just kind of shrugged and wondered WTF happened? (Raimi had to rewrite his script to cram Venom into his film, that’s what.)
So, Raimi has a flawed history despite creating some truly incredible films. Considering how the MCU functions nowadays, it’s just not a good fit for an independent film maker like Raimi. I’m certain he deferred to Fiege on some of the elements of MOM, and those elements were once again shoe horned into Raimi’s film. I fully anticipate that’s how MCU films will continue to be made for the foreseeable future. Raimi will never create his best work while working for Marvel. The deck will always remain stacked against him.

It reminds me of when he did the breakdown of dual of the fates and how it represented all these different thematic elements for anakin and the fate of the force. It was very poetic…but exactly none of that was conveyed in the film, so I don’t care.
Ideas mean Jack without proper execution.

Ryan Coogler would be my top choice to direct the next two Avengers movies. He has a great track record, and we aren't getting Black Panther 3 anytime soon, so why not? Kristian, I love ya but I think you’re totally wrong about Disney not calling the shots on the studios they own.
Remember Brave? Remember Wreck It Ralph? Brave is listed as a Pixar film while Wreck It Ralph is listed as a Disney film. That’s interesting considering Ralph uses a Pixar story formula and Brave uses the quintessential generic Disney formula. So why are they listed backwards like that? Because Disney the studio needed and wanted a win for themselves so they swapped movies with Pixar. It’s speculation but it’s also painfully clear.
Aside from that, Disney loves making money on merch. Merch sales are often times much larger than ticket sales. Star Wars fans still collect and buy merch for films they hated. That’s why every single movie under every single studio that Disney owns introduces shiny new characters and costumes in every single release. Iron man wears a different suite in every single movie because that’s a new toy. In fact, every single hero in all mcu films has a new suit in every new film. Groot? Don’t get me started on Groot. There was a whole ass new Groot in every movie even though Groot doesn’t traditionally take forever to grow back like that in the comics. 100% Disney influence.
They want new toys and tees and mugs and everything you can think of for every single new movie they drop.
You’re nuts if you think Disney is just out here leaving billions of potential dollars to some creative nerds who just want to fulfill their little nerdy childhood dreams and make their little sweaty nerdy passion projects.
I can’t believe you actually think this MEGA corporation is leaving it up to the studios. lol (actually lol’ing btw. I know you hate lol’s) So Lucas Film (who knew exactly what sequel movies George Lucas wanted to make) said “F George!” once he signed over his baby?? Cmon dude. Again, all love. But you’re wrong here.

The formula is so apparent that if somebody from that actual studio says they don’t have any say in creative, it just sounds akin to gaslighting. “No, what you’re seeing isn’t what you’re seeing. *Doctor* *Doom*
I'm not into reading comics. I owned a few back in the early 90s when X-Men was all the rage for Marvel fans but reading comics has never been my thing. So I was playing Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 on my PS Vita slim yesterday trying to beat Galactus at the end and I came to realize Doctor Doom is such a BADASS!!!
Then I watched videos and how powerful Doctor Doom is on RUclips. I'm starting to want both Kang and DD for The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. Let's not lose either of them. Maybe have Doctor Doom defeat Kang in Avengers 5 before being the big baddie in Avengers 6? MCU needs to get Doctor Doom right if Fantastic Four comes out.
Cillian Murphy is a popular choice to portray DD but I'll be happy if it's Andrew Lincoln, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Bill Skargard, or Josh Hartnett. Victor von Doom supposedly stands at 6'2 and then 6'7 when armored similar to Darth Vader (the late David Prowse stood at 6'6).
I read MCU Doctor Doom is a descendant of the Conquistadors who tussled with Namor. They're looking at *Javier* *Bardem* for the role. Latvia will be reimagined as a Mediterranean country. I'm actually okay with that if Pedro Pascal is Reed Richards. Latino men are excellent actors.
Doctor Doom will be wearing a mask anyway, so it doesn't matter much what he looks like once he starts doing some badass shit. He just needs to be a complicated character with depth. He needs to be intelligent and have swagger like Vader when being a villain.
I've seen videos comparing Doctor Doom vs. Kang, and Doom always won out in most categories. Kang simply isn't interesting enough from a narrative perspective. Doom is the more interesting character.
Doctor Doom has the potential to be the greatest MCU villain of all-time up there with Loki, Thanos, and Hela. Those three are the only villains I found memorable. Doom needs to be in more than two movies. Then we can shift to Galactus after the heroes deal with Doom.

I tried looking into why Wish cost $200 million which was their most expensive animated movie ever. I couldn't find anything specifically said about why this budget was so much higher, but based on some things I read I have a guess. They started developing the movie in 2018. So they had to have been running full steam ahead in 2020. I have to think that a lot of that was paying for their animators to work remotely over the pandemic. Computers are expensive and the kind of computers you need at home for animators to be able to work remotely would probably be something like $10-20 grand a piece. Then you need connectivity to the office and then on top of that, you have the normal cost to render everything that every animated movie has. So it's a lot. Probably the only voice actor demanding a decent salary was Chris Pine. So I don't think it was talent. I'd be really interested to see if anyone has been able to break the budget down. Maybe something will come out from some financial disclosure they have to do as a publicly traded company.

I didn't have much of a problem with Dr. Strange 2, so I'm okay with Sam Raimi doing the next two Avengers movies if he gets the job. However, he needs to play ball with what Marvel has planned for the overall story arc and he needs to make sure he and the writers have seen previous movies and shows so there's consistency. But I also share Mike's concerns that Marvel isn't even sure what's gonna become of those movies depending on Jonathan Majors' trial. It might not even be The Kang Dynasty by the time we see them. Gareth Edwards doing Thor 5 sounds pretty cool, though. I'd love to see what he could do with it. As for Nolan's comments about the state of blockbusters, I absolutely agree. We need more variety, which I think we do get for the most part, but the problem is that when something is original, it's often not marketed as well and that's a huge problem in itself. And I think theaters are gonna be very disappointed when Aquaman 2 comes out. The early box office tracking isn't looking too good. However, it won't have any major competition other than Wonka and if the reviews are good, it might stand a chance. This is a wait-and-see type of situation. I hope it does well. I'll definitely be seeing it. I love the first one.

Not so hot take (and I’ve been saying this for the past 5-6 years) but now with all the spending, losing money, breaking even, and some of the films/tv shows not being as well received by Disney. I really do believe if Disney sells off ESPN, ABC, FX, Freeform, etc. They’re going to sell and be acquired by Apple. It’ll obviously benefit them financially and as a subsidiary they’ll keep the Disney branding for marketing purposes.

I tell him that if the movie does well, we will happily bankroll any kind of lower mid budget movie (20-40 millio range) that he wants to make after (within reason). The leg work has already been done, fans responded incredibly well to Now Way Home and Spider-Man is one of the only superhero characters who always has success at the box office. Kristian, ya gotta know that these studios are making huge budget films on purpose for very specific non-creative reasons. I mean at this point, you must know that these are not creative decisions. These are corporate decisions. They don’t want a 50 to 100 million dollar profit on a $125 million dollar film. They want 1 to 2 billion in profit on a film. They want their shareholders to think they’re about to make billions on films any given year. Then what about the tax cuts and all this other jargon we as fans don’t pay attention to? How much are they making on merch? Studios have canceled super popular animated series’ because they weren’t selling enough toys for girls. They could give a shyt about all the insane fan love.
I need your glorious brain to look into this very REAL thing and report on it to us from your perspective. Please. Instead of shouting at the screen telling studios to make smaller budget films. THEY AIN’T LISTENING! 🖖🏿🙏🏿❤️✊🏿

Most are making smaller budget films. The MCU has clout and the money to make a 150 mil movie. They've hit soooo much more than they have missed. Does anyone really think their next movie Deadpool is going to do less than 750 mil at the box office alone? I don't. Guardians did really well, so did MOM. Among other marvel movies. They are turning a profit on basically every movie. But outside of the MCU who is cranking out projects that cost north of 100 mil constantly?

I think the Feige knew phase 4 was kind of a bust when they had to shift around release dates knowing damn well Sony wouldn’t shift No Way Home past December. Multiverse of madness was supposed to come out before NWH which makes much more sense.
They basically had to rewrite the movie to accommodate for Sony’s movie. So Feige brining in Rami for the new version of MoM felt like him going well the story we wanted to till is out the window, let me at least let Sam come in and do his thing to make this movie at least some what interesting. The main problem with MoM in my opinion is the script which Rami had next to nothing to do with. Rami was heavily involved in the first 2 Spider-Man scripts and look how those movies turned out.
There’s no doubt about it, it’s a risk to let Rami do 4 and 5 but Feige knows how important these movies are for his legacy let alone the mcu. I don’t think he’d bring him in if Sam didn’t convey that he’s willing to play ball.

Does lot of it fall on Writers? Seem everyone blaming directors because movies not doing well. If you pass instructions you going do what it says right? Raimi makes great visuals but they need GOOD WRITERS and someone to make sure films stay focus on on MCU connections but not throw in random characters that have nothing to do with the individual film.
