THIS set has Maps, item Sketches, family tree lines etc. everything in the book of which the 4K one does not, so of course it’s therefore cooler and more definitive/Truly needed. The only thing the 4K has is the Reunion disc, of which you can pretty much watch that Featurette anywhere online
I was honestly disappointed with the 4K set. The color grading of the films is all gone and the movies look much less vibrant as a result. Yeah, I know the blu-ray for Fellowship of the Ring has that infamous greenish-blue tint, but the films on 4K look much more dull than the blu-ray versions. I'm also disappointed that blu-ray discs didn't come with the set as well (for the rest of us who don't have a 4K TV) but maybe that's just me. What disappointes me most about this set is the lack of new features. Keeping all the old special features is a must but there are so many deleted scenes that have never seen the light of day that I would KILL to see! That alone would've made the 4K set a must-own. But what makes me prefer this version over the 4K set is the presentation. This set looks like it came straight out of the films and the bonus stuff included adds to that even more!
3:07 holy sht. Did anybody else catch that? It said "barrels out of bounds" its supposed to be "barrels out of bond". Thats hiw its printed in the book. I wonder if that makes it more valuable for the misprint.

I love the dvd extended edition limited edition cause of the statues, love this edition for the predentation and the journal with the amazing artwork, I will be gettimg the 4k edition
The elvian brooch is given to the fellowship at Caras Galadhon, when they are offered the cloacks and gifts from Galadriel. So that's not with the fellowship from the begining.
Is there wonder if the extended cuts are going to have new scenes and the old extended scenes I wonder if they're going to add then given gold to everyone?
Actually, I think the reason why they chose to put each film onto two discs is because the LOTR books technically have 2 books in each (making it a total of 6). I think they wanted to respect what Tolkien did, so they incorporated that into the movies. Not sure if this is correct, but I think it sounds pretty reasonable.
The other reason is for technical purposes. The Fellowship and The Two Towers are 3hrs 30 mins each. The Return of the King is 4hrs 30 mins. My take is, to avoid a stupid amount of compression, they just decided to go with two discs. Which works better for the consumer because we get a better quality product.
A very nice boxset, indeed. The booklet would be cooler, though, if they used more sketches instead of just taking everything straight from the BoFA and RotK end credits.

Oh btw, the theatrical versions have their place. Sometimes you want it a little shorter. Plus, there's actually some scenes in FotR theatrical that *aren't* in the extended. Lol
Could you PLEASE measure the thickness of any of the trilogies? Point is, I'd like to replace The Hobbit Trilogy with LOTR Complete Recordings OSTs, so I'm wondering if they'd fit. MANY THANKS! ;)
How does the video quality compare to the 2011 extended Blu-Ray cut, I know that set had a weird blue filter put over the entire movie that really ruined it for me. I hope this doesn't have it too!

It is a good set but cannot claim title of ultimate for one thing some of the documentaries and the independences are there they re not all blu-ray and is still unreleased film of the original triluigi
@@Nick-4K I just snorted out loud🤣 You will. Just give it time. If you have the correct setup and means to watch, 4K is noticeably better. Not all transfers are great, but 75% of them are.
How much did this cost at launch? One of the coolest box sets I've ever seen. Wondering what the price was so that I can gather between that and the current going prices and don't overpay.
Why would you buy this with the 4k editions out?? Also the 4k collectors edition coming soon both which have Dolby Atmos sound, an absolute must have to appreciate these films. Night and day difference from the blue ray versions.
Exellent unboxing 👌 Hobbit movies are garbage. Absolutely love the Lord of the rings trilogy though. I own the recently released 4k editions for LOTR but have to say I prefure some of the extended edition displays on the origional Blu ray. More Fantastical . Love the Art book with this set.
