- A short making-of my first attempt to build a Halloween prop that can actually move! I have always been a huge fan of Animatronics and wanted to try building one out of wood, paper and some basic electronics - so I came up with the idea of a Raven who greets our guests at our annual Halloween Party!

The project turned out way more complex than anticipated and I had to learn a lot of new stuff. But I got it to work also thanks to a lot of people on RUclips that are posting great videos on how stuff works! Thank you all!

Creepy as fuck I love it. Take my money, TAKE IT I said
That's awesome! I think it's amazing what people can do nowadays on their own without formal training. When I was growing up you couldn't just go on the internet and access so much information and teach yourself to do things like this.
ohhh that looks so cool
i believe you did a crow because crows are the big black birds and ravens are small ones. i still like it :) it's awesome
+Ashley Salmon Actually - Making the animatronic at a bigger scale would have been easier than making it 'crow size' - learned a lot on it - glad that you like it
ah so that makes sense because you only can make with what you got and circuit boards, gears and what not don't come too small so i understand it. and i am glad too. robotics is one thing i am getting into and animatronics i like as well since, well, robots ^^ and so this is an awesome diy video and something i so would love to make for halloween at my place
clearly you don't know much about the Corvid family. Ravens are much bigger than a crow, and have a deeper call. crows are small, and have that high pitched caw, much like the caw used in this animatronic
That's amazing! I've been thinking of making a raven animatronic, but I really need to learn a lot here
where do you learn to prograhm all off it?
I taught myself programming as a teenager - the Arduino is in fact very simple to program, there are many tutorials online that can help you out.
Ok Thanks!!!
I wanna buy a talking raven prop but then record a bunch of Peter Lorre lines from the 1963 movie The Raven and find a way for the mouth to sync up with what Lorre's saying
