My friend, you are the best! What do you do is a work of art. I have never seen such a painstaking approach. Your lures don't even want to throw, just on the wall. From Finland/Russia with love!
thanks, I really wanted to make something beyond what i had done previous so I was happy selling it and knowing that people would be getting the best but i still have a bit of a way to go, thanks
I've seen a LOT of RUclips....not to many of you guys put as much effort into the cinematics, and only two has ever impressed me as much as your video! Great shots, great edit, wonderfully put together. And as a craftsman...I really appreciate the information shots and the well focused close ups. Thanks! :D
Hells bells Paul, you've really pulled out all the stops on this one - brilliant portrayal of the artistic side to lure making - you're fishin' for an Oscar aren't ya?!
Very good work and very good baits! I learn a lot with your videos, actually, i'm starting do do my own soft lures these days. Thanks! Salutes from Barcelona
This was really kind of on the edge for me and out of my comfort zone so I took very soft steps and concentrated on the details, i really did not know if i can pull it off so I think I was as surprised as well, thanks
I did have fun doing the opening, especially getting in and out the shower and trying not to open my eyes as the camera came down toward my face on the slider.
wonderful work! Love seeing everything that you do. I am working on it but maybe one day I will have something to show the world. As of now I am just trying to catch up. ha ha Love your videos!!!!
The silicone i used was Polycraft GP3481-f from MB fibreglass, www.mbfg.co.uk/rtv-silicone/gp... they also have an ebay shop (uk based, europe) Some alternatives with similar properties are Alumilite High strength 2 from alumilite www.makelure.com/ (worldwide) CS25 Condensation Cure Silicone Rubber from Easy composites(uk based, europe) www.easycomposites.co.uk/#!/ Mold Max 25 from Smooth-on (worldwide) www.smooth-on.com/category/ti... For the resin I used easiflow 60 in white, there are so many difeerent companies making equivalents or supplying this that searching ebay is the fastest method. I would start with a small amount like 250ml, it does not keep forever once opened. You can also purchase it from most of the same suppliers as for the silicone
Paul, another great product and even better video production. Looking at your soft plastic connected to the weighted hook, makes me wonder if is possible to mold the plastic to allow the lead weight to be pulled all the way into the head/mouth area to more or less hide it completely.
Paul wounderful vid as usual I have been playing with Mica dust lately trying to color a few soft plastics you can buy them fairly cheep from most any hobby shop as ink powder (can spell fancy Writing ink... coligraphy?) and was having the same issue and was having trouble getting it to stick even tryed heating it in but as I reach the temp needed it deformed the hole lure the other option is to dip the lure in a clear varnish of fresh plastic but this is costly because you have to have a large stand by of clear and even with the best heating practices you will still get some discoloration (yellowing) this is a fine trick to try thank you
also iv been posting my progress in lure making right now in a Facebook group I started called Tennessee DIY Fishing and started hash taging facebook and instagram with posts #DIYBASSFISHING I'll be starting videos on you tube soon I promis I'm sorry I don't have any up when you followed my channel just need to put togeather a few small things first then I'll start rolling.
That is unreal! I would hate to think how much footage you had to shoot to end up with the perfect 5:21 mins end product! Well done and I'm looking forward to the break down of the techniques. What is the main camera you use for these? Cheers
i whas waiting for the video from beginning when u start to post pics on facebook my friend. like always you are amazing! and i love the story you made:)) you are amazing
Absolutely the best quality video you have produced so far Paul! Awesome quality and B-roll. What kind of camera do you use? Again, crazy good video sir.
Beautiful work! I was a little bit curious about why you made two resin casts - first the basic shape and then again after adding mouth parts with plasteline. Would it have been possible to combine those steps?
The trouble with using the clay is that is not hard enough to really clean up and polish and its not great to make two part moulds from but it is great for roughing in features. I made what is know as a waste mould then I could recast in harder material and then finish that. This is or was standard practice for modelling action figures. cheers for asking
Thanks for sharing. A beautifully made video and lure! One question, if I may... I noticed that your injected the liquid soft plastic from the bottom-up, rather than top-down that I see in most other videos - is there any particular reason for doing so? Cheers!
My friend, you are the best!
What do you do is a work of art. I have never seen such a painstaking approach. Your lures don't even want to throw, just on the wall.

Hells bells Paul, you've really pulled out all the stops on this one - brilliant portrayal of the artistic side to lure making - you're fishin' for an Oscar aren't ya?!

This is by far the best build I’ve watched. What an EXCELLENT design, and even better build! Just brilliant brother. Also, great music choice.😊
AMAZING SHOOTS, great moulds, first time I see the microwave trick and injecting from the bottom. Just great, I enjoyed a lot!
it was cheap solution the injection pipes but i have some more experiments to do so it may get changed

Wow. The man has got severe skills.
30 secs into this video and I already liked it because of the Cinematography.
I did have fun doing the opening, especially getting in and out the shower and trying not to open my eyes as the camera came down toward my face on the slider.

Looking at your soft plastic connected to the weighted hook, makes me wonder if is possible to mold the plastic to allow the lead weight to be pulled all the way into the head/mouth area to more or less hide it completely.
yep, i have moulded weights into some test lures it is very easy to do and i may show it in a future video, but as always its time , thanks
Trying out a new style? :)
You're lure craftsmanship really spills over into your editing.
Yep, wanted to do something a bit different with this one, cheers
Nothing like catching fish on a lure you made!
Paul wounderful vid as usual I have been playing with Mica dust lately trying to color a few soft plastics you can buy them fairly cheep from most any hobby shop as ink powder (can spell fancy Writing ink... coligraphy?) and was having the same issue and was having trouble getting it to stick even tryed heating it in but as I reach the temp needed it deformed the hole lure the other option is to dip the lure in a clear varnish of fresh plastic but this is costly because you have to have a large stand by of clear and even with the best heating practices you will still get some discoloration (yellowing) this is a fine trick to try thank you

because I fail to separate the two parts
Tani Koev Vaseline
What's the best way to find out when these go on sale? Awesome video as usual!
I will announce it on youtube,
Thanks for sharing. A beautifully made video and lure! One question, if I may... I noticed that your injected the liquid soft plastic from the bottom-up, rather than top-down that I see in most other videos - is there any particular reason for doing so? Cheers!
You think you can make a "schooling fish" lure? Maybe a wood or plastic bait.
Pretty cool!
thanks
Great job man..nice video..what tools you are using for checkering the fish scales? its detail
it is a jig i made that you use with a saw file, was going to do a video on it
+The Handmade Fisherman (The Handmade Fisherman) great ideas..thanks
Canal TRENS DE PESCA - Brasil - Parabéns seu trabalho é sempre muito bom, aprendo muito vendo seus vídeos!
Thanks
What kind of pencil do you use?
Hi Paul, would you know what kind of salt is used in soft baits?
A M A Z I N G !!!! Ty !!!
thanks
Would this work for smaller ones?
Hello.
Materials for liquid plastic are you buying at a local store or a specialty store for lure makers???
i get them from a lure making suppliers
softplastics.co.uk/ but there are lots of companies around the world
hello Paul want to ask why did you choose to do crankbait lures or minnow lures
I was inspired by Japanese minnow crank bait builders
+Paul Adams Would you ever consider selling the molds? I would love to buy one!
I don't think it is something i would do
Paul Adams I guess they are pretty labor intensive to make, so that makes sense. Thanks for replying!
nicely done
thanks
just awesome!
thanks
bravo trop bien faite cette vidéo !!!!!!!!!
very impressive.
Nice video, what kind of markers Are you using?
sharpie, not all the colours work well so it is worth experimenting, the light ones tend to be better
