One thing about the Hamlin move at the end of the race, yes he has class but he’s moved people before. I think it’s a mix of not moving the 43 car like you said and playing it safe. Sure he could have been locked in, but he also could have crashed. Think of briscoe and reddick at Bristol

In Nascar's defense, I don't think the safety issues are complete neglect. For years we've complained about the on track product. Now we have cars that race good. I can understand Nascar not just chomping at the bit to change the car because it does race good. I'm sure there's a lot of "how do we fix this without scrapping the whole chassis we spent millions to develop?" going on behind the scenes. I understand the frustration by drivers, but I don't it's realistic to expect updates to roll out overnight, and I certainly don't think it's realistic to expect a brand new car to be perfect from day one. And let's be honest, this is just Karen Harvick at work

NASCAR hasn't had a clue what they are doing since they overreacted to Kenseth's championship in '03 and mutilated the points system and started the playoff crap. 95% of decisions since then have just been more of stomping on their own dick. That being said the Next Gen car has been much better than I thought it would be but Harvick is right that they absolutely have to be willing to spend money and effort to make it of the highest quality and if they aren't every driver should be calling them out. And yes he will be punished because that's just what all pro sports organizations do whenever a member calls them out on their crap. Both rich assholes and bureaucrats hate being called out and that all that the administration of pro sports leagues contain.

I absolutely support what Kevin Harvick says, from an engineering perspective I honestly don't know how they missed some of these issues. Just looking at the design of the rear sub-frame assembly and the front/rear bumpers you can there is too much rigidity. With that in mind, it's almost common sense that the more a car tears apart in an accident, the more energy is dissipated.
On the fan side of thing, sure the car has "leveled the playing field" but I love the engineering side of NASCAR. A huge part of that used to be chassis, body fabrication, etc. which is non existent in the Cup Series now. Honestly I find more enjoyment watching the Xfinity and Truck races these days.
