Wait what Ralph with a good mic
fluffy pixel his best prank yet
No way, that’s so rare
Damn i wanted to mention that
Hey fluffy where's your prof pic from? I see it everywhere
The best part of Us was when I was able to Get Out of the theater
Wow that joke was so profound
@@chantalksmoremovies4998 yeah did Jordan Peele write this joke?

Did you diasagree with them on lady bird

Crazy how they actually got jackscepticeye to do his intro at 0:23
SotaMito Apparently he’s a huge fan
Fuken nailed it tbh
Its so weird hearing Adam so energetic.
For a second this comment made me question if that was him or not lol

Us and Them is a great Pink Floyd song.
eh
Them is also a good monster movie

Man you guys really got tyrone.com/ralphthemoviemaker on here? I’ve been wanting him as a guest for forever, I love Tyrone
This Podcast is literally one of things I look forward to the most every other week. Keep up the great work, you're all wonderful.
SMH, Pixar really should have made Madagascar 4 instead of Toy Story 4 👏😤
@Captain Obvious next you're going to tell me they didn't make Shark Tale
@Captain Obvious You're right, the Weinstein Company owns it.
@@Superman22010 r/whooosh back to u bro (his username...)
They should have made citizen kane 2
@@moritzzz1 they did, it's called Chicken Run
The dream sequences in Hereditary were pretty unusual and interesting in the way they played around with you
Can we just agree that the main theme from the Dark Crystal is just the god damned BEST?
I’m surprised they didn’t talk about it.
man I love being able to time travel
Aw man I wish I could
Woah!
Moses Salmon it's rewind time
Wait what
I'm American and can confirm, Ralph says both radiator and labyrinth incorrectly.
W33B LORD rad ee ator
It must be a North Eastern thing, I'm from Florida originally and I heard it about half the time over there and everyone I met who said it that way was from the northeast
Us felt like the real first episode of the Twilight Zone reboot
They need to talk about that Twilight Zone reboot in the future cos the hype for that did not hold up.
@@TheBasaltHorogium Can't really blame the show for your hype level though.
@@FerociousPaul I meant it as if the show didn't live up to its expectations.
@@TheBasaltHorogium But the expectations you're talking about are your own.
the hereditary dream sequence!! best dream sequence in a horror film
For us I thought one of the family would accidentally kill one member thinking they were one of the tethered
Yeah or it was gonna be like a message of "if there's two versions of the same person, one has to die for the other to be in the same position/lifestyle"
Male Tears that’s exactly what happens.......
Great examples of combining comedy and horror are Shaun of the dead, and World's End
Not much horror in The World's End tbh
Yeah
The Cabin in the Woods
Ghost Stories does comedy and horror well, alot more horror and the comedy that is in it is dark humour and the absurd turn it takes, maybe I was more of laughing out of nervousness but it works
@@lukess.s, Idk, I found The World's End scarier than Shaun of the Dead. Sure, not that scary, but it creeps me out a tad
Alex, just wanna say I love you. Laid back as fuck always listening, like the silent bob of the group, you speak when the time is right and I just appreciate you.
Synecdoche, New York
Adam, this needs to happen
For April Fool’s Day 2020, Adam and Alex should just record an entire episode with Tyrone playing Ralph.
Didn’t even mention the opening scene of The Spongebob Squarepants Movie when discussing dream sequences.
I unironically love that movie. And I mean love. I don’t throw that word around a lot when talking about movies.
Holy Mountain 2: Electric Bugaloo
You guys didn’t mention the dream sequence in Anomalisa.
Tickmayham42 I kinda just take it as him losing his mind and everyone sounding the same
aka the best scene of the movie
Woah funny even as a kid I also thought Dark Crystal reminded me of Zelda
Disney confirmed they're still doing R-rated Deadpool films as well as other R rated films.
Do they still release mature films under Touchstone? Or did they close Touchstone??
I think Touchstone is still around. I could be wrong, though.
@@BPetty1236 Iko Uwais and Disney?! Now you've sold me.
@@BPetty1236 I agree. I just hope it doesn't suck like Mile 22 did, with it's horribly edited action sequences.
And I'm proud of Disney, not just making family films (although they do make some good ones), but also expanding the range to adult films as well. The future looks interesting, indeed.
Hey guys, did you know that the Sardonicast feed on Spotify is missing a bunch of episodes? At least on mobile. It only shows 10, 12, and then 15-30.
This episode also isn't on Spotify yet.
Didn't they mention that in a previous episode? I believe Ralph said he's working with Spotify to get all of them up. Something about him messing up uploading them and not realizing he had to upload each one manually rather than all at once. :)
Adam What a fuckin' boomer
Dream Sequence? Nightmare on Elm street.
Arrival. Hellraiser. Blade Runner. Akira.
I had people constantly talking and narrating, like "OH SHIT DON'T GO ION THERE!" type stuff. And it was at a nice theater( recliners with tons of space and perfect elevation so you can't even see people beneath you) at some special Dolby Atmos room. 10/10 theater but braindead screaming and yelling at every little scare and constant commentary convinced me to never go back during popular hours. Early week days weeks after release from now on.
I had people straight up TALKING and on their phones the entire time -- in the back row of the theatre. It was absolutely awful. I don't even know how I feel about it because of the shit audience experience.
The people behind me were so annoying too it ruined the whole fucking experience
But like, that’s what made it so fun. Like I know I’m in the minority but the theater interacting with the movie makes it like a whole new thing.
Nobody does dream sequences like Lynch
Actually Dark Crystal has a series of comic books
Can't help but wonder what Adum would think of the Evil Dead musical...it's canadian
a what...

I thought that the Evil Dead musical was super well-known
I know you guys were late to the Joker party, but talk about that shit in the next ep. It's a very fascinating trailer especially coming from the guy who has directed only a handful of comedies

Ralph "there's always crime, everywhere I go" Sepe
I thought the best dream sequence of A Serious Man was the one where... let's just say it's the "brief violence" in the rating.
Look son! There's another jew!
that shit made me laugh so hard
Even when I’m too busy to listen I always click on the video anyways because I can't wait to hear the intro
That fanart is 😤👌
The Rango dream sequence is amazing. One of the best animated movies out there, so underrated.
I really saw "Under the Silver Lake" and you guys are right and its much better than "Us" were everything is symbolic of giving a weird reason, but "Silver Lake" felt like a suspense mystery where a main character must find a girl who he really likes and just takes every symbolic messages and codes so that he can find here with strange people and all of these hidden secrets and cult kept hiding the entire plot. It was like a Hitchcock noir and it blended very well with the sequence, the editing, the music, and its very fascinating. Garfield did great and it's very weird mystery movie that makes him terrified the entire situation of finding the girl. Overall, I would recommend it and sure its not great movie by these critics give it lower and you guys rank it below 80 close to 100 so I really enjoy it. Pretty much of giving A24 ranking on my close spot as well like I enjoy Mid90's.
Last Exorcism Part II is the funniest of the titles to which Alex alluded.
Ralph? Decent audio quality?? Whaaa?
Gonna have to watch Labyrinth again, watched a vhs recording of that we had as a boy many times. The dream sequences in Super Dark Times were pretty fucking dope.
The Dark Crystal is one of my favorite films of all time. I’m really happy they got to talk about it.
How did you feel about their criticisms?
Jim Henson had a lot of bizarre, unusual ideas. I remember hearing an interview from Frank Oz, when they showed the movie to some hollywood execs, I guess to get it approved to show in theaters or something, supposedly they just walked out of the room, and that hit Jim hard. I had no idea about the redubbing, or that it was mostly silent/in gibberish, but that does make sense considering the detail in character, environment, setting and lore. There's even comics or books that explain the whole story of the movie.
There are books and comics based on the Dark Crystal.
There was a comic and novelization back in the day, sometime around 2011 a prequel comic and relatively more recently a couple of books, a sequel comic based on the script for the cancelled sequel, and a continuation of that is currently ongoing.
I think even a set of collectable toys were made a while ago.
I saw an old salvaged cut of The Dark Crystal where the Skeksis mostly just spoke that fictional language they were initially supposed to. They were the most fucking evil creatures I've ever seen in a film, so even though I loved it I can see why they changed it. The scenes were still completely comprehensible without dialogue, though.
You're telling me a Hollywood Critics didn't like a movie that depicts Hollywood poorly? huh, would have never thought that would happen...
Gave me a good scare there. What would we do without copying other youtuber's intros?
1:12:49 “Where are your friends now Amigo?” One of my favorite cinematic moments of all time.
These poor souls have no idea that big daddy Tom Six is legitimately working on a movie titled *The Human Caterpillar*. Poor, poor souls.
Ralph, the lightning and the thunder were at different times. Which i know is the most important aspect of film to you...
Get cosmonaut variety hour on this podcast, pleaaaaaseeee
Yassss
Yes! You finally talked about Under The Silver Lake. One of my favorite movies from last year.
53:50 The Skeksis Emperor's death- if you look closely when he crumbles you can see a stick pushing through his beak.
lol the recommendation, the next episode is gonna be interesting
Next RUclipsr intro for Adam: JAR media - 'good afternoon morning evening or night ladies and gentlemen'
Something I like about Age of Resistance was that they actually wrote it with real dialogue in mind
You boys have got to work on your cinema history. Obviously 2 of the best and most famous dream sequences are from Ingmar Bergman's "Wild Strawberries" and Alfred Hitchcock's "Spellbound."
My favorite dream sequence is the one at the end of Emergence
Under the Silver Lake isn't even getting a theatrical release anymore, it's going straight to VOD
Synechdoche II: Synechdoche Los Angeles
Adam: It's a Criterion Movie...
At that point, Alex and Ralph's wallets were fucked...
There’s a really great book on the making of Dark Crystal I read a while back. I remember they were really worried that no one would accept the main characters so they tried to make them aesthetically pleasing as possible but still register as otherworldly. I guess it’s just a case of overthinking.
TSA Rob and the dad from Us need their own buddy movie together.
I loved US it's honestly one of the best movies of the year IMO. Honestly you can not like it but saying it's rushed and needs more effort is crazy Jordan Peele clearly put effort into this movie
"One of the best"? We're in April, that's not high praise.
Despite liking it I do feel that their criticisms were justified.
@@lukess.s I don't think anything can top it so it's high praise from me
@@elboob1921 I didn't feel Ralph saying it was rushed was a good criticism
I liked it but didn't love it. I preferred Get Out. Us was a more ambitious movie, and as a result it seemed a bit less focused to me. That being said for a second film it was good and Jordan Peele clearly worked hard on it. Didn't feel rushed at all to me
Jen would've been right at home in Team America: World Police.
I love you guys so much, I love the discussions and I love how you're educated or willing to educate yourself on a subject.
This podcast isn't just film discussion and I absolutely love it.
Plucking Violins for a horror score is cliche AF
The orchestral version of Five On It was pretty good, imo, in terms of "odd music" that Ralph was wanting
Am I in the minority when I thought the reveal in Us clarified a lot more than it contradicted?
It justified a lot of her strange actions during the whole middle stretch of the film if you view it as someone slowly recovering little bits of repressed memories.
I guess I looked at the traumatic event in the main character's past as something that she didn't really remember correctly, and just accepted what made the most sense to her as an adult. Just because the way it looked in her performance at the end was like the true things she did that night were all slowly coming back to her.
Plus, it's also pretty easy to convince a child something may have happened that didn't really happen, so I'd be willing to bet she genuinely thought she had PTSD through the counselling she probably went through.
Yeah, if anything, the movie clarified more than it needed to
Knowing the movie "Jeanne Dielman", I'm really excited for the next Sardonicast.
There is a book series on the dark crystal that tells more about the universe but it takes place before the dark crystal (+ Jen isn't the protagonist).
I LOVE the dark crystal, and it does actually have a bunch of recent comics set in the universe including prequels about the history they mention in the movie and sequels with Gen and the girl when they're older! They're pretty good imo
you guys should talk about under the silver lake on another podcast. ive been waiting months to see it in my city, but it’s no longer getting a theatrical release. also, how come every critic on rotten tomatoes hates the movie, but everyone reviewing it on youtube loves it? almost makes me think there’s an actual conspiracy going on, but i could be wrong lol.
Just saw Under the Silver Lake and I kinda loved it. I still don’t know what to think about it, is the weird thing. I’m not a Garfield fan, but David Robert Mitchell is brilliant. Can’t wait to see what he does next.
I cant believe you guys are doing the dark crystal i still have nam flashbacks from that movie
Talking backwards and then a dream sequence conversation- and twin peaks didn’t at least get a tv honorable mention?
42:35 - The Toy In The Striped Pyjamas
Is the April Fools joke that I can actually understand Ralph through his mic?!
I’m so happy we’re talking about this masterpiece. I was also scared of this movie
I’ve never had clapping during a movie at a theater. One time I had people clapping after, but that was just the one time.
I hope they do an episode comparing the two Blade Runner movies. Would love to hear their thoughts on those films, especially Ralph's.
I know that there are some comic books for The Dark Crystal. I could be wrong, but I think some of them just exist to expand the lore.
I watched The Dark Crystal when I was really little and it scared the shit out of me.
Before I saw the movie, I was like Jordan Peele isn’t gonna do that stupid reveal. A little bit of me knew it would happen but I didn’t want it to.
I went into Us having the “twist” spoiled for me, and it actually enriched my viewing experience personally. I think you all would appreciate watching the film again without feeing like the big reveal is supposed to be a huge payoff.
It’s like watching Rosemary’s Baby. I didnt need the final scene of the film to solidify the horror for me.
The dream scene in shrek 3 was honestly really good
YESSS NATHAN FOR YOU!!!!
Someone has probably already stated this but there was a series of Dark Crystal graphic novels that told some of the lore.
The biggest April Fools joke in this episode is Ralph’s working mic
I stopped listening and watched a serious man randomly on Netflix, i just came back to the cast and they talked about it.
the intro sent me into fight or flight
You thought you were gonna slip that fanart of you as the totally spies by without us noticing didn't you
I just caught under the silver lake what an amazing fucking movie I wish I watched it sooner
Hell yeah man. I love it
Do custom grow 420 intro next week it’ll be funny to hear u do it
I think Us would have been better if it was more about identity theft and that the family was being framed for wrongdoings. But identity theft is one of my biggest fears so it is probably just me.
