- Hi, my name is Cory and I am a small town artist making environmental and ecological inspired artwork. In this video I document and talk about the ideas behind my artwork called Carbon Footprints.
In this video I contemplate the idea of a carbon footprint and create some 2D art. The process involved making homemade charcoal from a fallen tree and using it to make actual carbon footprints on paper. Not only is this piece a play on words, but it is a critique and examination of our over use of fossil fuels.
Each piece has 416 footprints (yes I counted!). I chose this number after doing research on the average carbon footprint. In the United States, that number is 16 tons/year. Being 26, that would make my estimated carbon footprint 416 tons for as long as I've been alive.

Great work! This reminded me of my college competition entry for Earth Day poster design (a very very long time ago) where I submitted a plain white poster with an ink pad built into it, and some instructions basically asking the viewer to use the ink pad as they wish to leave a mark on the poster, but they should take into consideration that even though a mark they may think minuscule will leave everlasting effects
Thanks so much! And what a fantastic concept for an Earth Day poster. I can just imagine the possibilities, especially with a lot of people participating. Thanks for sharing!
I just found your channel, it’s very interesting and inspiring, thank you!
I hope one day you make prints with this art! The third one on a biodegradable postcard would be a great gift to send a friend!
Love this work!
woof.. what?
It hurts seeing you hacking the axe on concrete... get a wooden block next time.
Stunning and brave. You are saving the world.
Pretending to care about the environment but creates carbon to walk in carbon while being carbon. I love hypocrisy. Nothing makes me laugh more.
you really are just a hater arent you 💀
