Wilson Phillips was an amazing trio. A combination of extraordinary talent and beauty made thiis group one of the best musical acts of the 1990's and their music will always be timeless for many years to come.
This is definitely my favorite song by Wilson Phillips. There are definitely one of the best female trios ever. All such gorgeous and hugely talented women.
Of course! Her dad is Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, one of the most influential musicians of not only of California pop rock music, but of American music in general. It’s in her blood 🩸
Yes, the kids truly had respect for their parents' tradition of vocal harmonies. Seems like country music is the only place you hear it anymore, it's sad. But, nearly 20 years have gone by, it'll be exciting to hear what THEIR kids come up with!
What are they topping? And the 3rd of August? Looks like it was about 10 years ago. When weird people right their names on the comments, it just wreaks of creepy.
More than any other of Wilson Phillips songs, this song shows each one of the girls "true" singing talents. I really love how Carnie was able to provide her real range (her low to high note, just like Brian provides). Wendy is just like her Uncle Carl (so very underrated) and Chynna is just like both John and Michelle. Between the three of them, they totally make their Mamas and Papas (no pun intended) very proud.
Just saw them live last night and they opened with this song. Carnie joked the music video was psychedelic...she wasn't kidding! Love them. Still sound great 25+ years later!
I remember hearing this riding in the summer camp van, going up to Hinkley, MN. This song came in the radio...There was a certain melancholy to it, because I was 17 and that would be my last summer as a kid. 30 years ago doesn’t seem so long, yet it was that long ago
Love to see the bond exudes within the trio, it relates to the song and the glimpse of their childhood makes a perfect perk . it makes me miss my dear friends more!
My twin sister and I grew up very close until our teens when our lives went in different directions, loving 250 miles away doesn’t help, I sent we are only flesh and blood by Wilson phillips, as a teenager she was the president of beach boys in Ontario, and we shared our love for the Wilsons
Carnie was the prettiest of the three and her voice! I remember I bought this in cassette tape, I was in my second year of college living at the dorm. So many fun memories from my youth!
NBC played this during its montage of the 1991 NBA Finals after MJ won his first ring. Then for 5 straight years they used "Winning It All" by The Outfield. I miss the NBA on NBC.
Awesome song, and a great track to conclude a quintessential late 80's/early 90's pop disc. They don't make music like this anymore, and it's a damn shame. As much as I love singer/songwriters like Adele, Kelly and Demi, they'd really not by anywhere were it not for the pioneering efforts of these wonderful women!
This song...I remember listening to this song swimming one summer at my aunt’s place. That’s when I had my first crush on someone. But he didn’t show me the time of day.
Indeed a beautiful song Carnie & Chynna looked really cute there the short hair look that Chyna had, made her look Dazzling. The song is an inspiration of how far we have overcome our heritage and that The Dream is Still Alive and well.
For some reason they shoved Chynna's lead in the chorus to the back of the mix and made Carnie's harmonies the lead. It sounds really weird. It's like someone said, "hey, Carnie hasn't been the lead on a single so we should make it happen on this one, just bring her harmony to the front of the mix". It's why the single didn't as well as the rest. If you wanted to sing along with the track, you wouldn't sing Carnie's part, you'd sing Chynna's part.
hey!!! this is good! i clicked here just to c how wendy looked, but chynna's background singing is fantastic! the way they made carnie eyes, she looks hapa here i bet the ladies r tired of reading how all us guys remember hearing this from a basketball game, haha!! i think i almost remember that...
:: this is a great song.... the dream is still alive.... " eyes like twins" is a good song too... i had a tape and a cd of these girls and i love listening to their voices.... :: next to you is amazing too... +=vanica=+
it disappointed me when this song did not get as much play as the previous singles did....it always seems that any song from an album is like that , when the last single comes out, it falls by the wayside
Love these ladies. I dream of seeing them in Concert! Wendy is my favorite but I have to say that Chynna was lookin good here. Either way, this is one of the best of singles they put out from their first album.
This was one of their better songs. I had their debut CD, and from top to bottom, it was really neat. Here's something funny...I remember NBC playing this song while running the closing credits after game 5 of the 1991 NBA Finals when Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls beat the Los Angeles Lakers.
Most beautiful video I ever seen for the first time......today. But I heard the song before in a different clip called Jennifer Aniston in 'Ferris Bueller' ages & ages ago.
This was the 5th single/video released from their debut album that came out in early 1990, this video was produced in either late 1990 or early 1991. Not sure where you get the winter from 1992 from because their second album 'Shadows & Light' came out in June of 1992 and by that winter it produced two top 40 hits.
They played this song after the 1991 NBA Finals on NBC after Michael Jordan won his first title against the Lakers. We were all like WTF??? Wilson Phillips??!!
This is my favourite WILSON PHILLIPS track. But they turned out so many brilliant songs, just like their Dads did. Where are they now? Would love to see them live in Scotland, or anywhere. Robin Topping - Mauchline Ayrshire Scotland - 4th Aug 2011
Chynna is the best among the three. She really beautiful she is not just a singer but can be a great actress. Unfortunately after she married to William Baldwin I have not seen any either new album or movie from her.
By the time this song came out the "girls" were already being ignored. This was another song that could have made top five but it never got air play. From this point on they were pretty much dissed in their careers. You have to remember that this is when GRUNGE music became popular.
Annalissac, I agree. "Eyes Like Twins" was a good song and really showcased Carnie's vocal ability. "Next to You" was really good, too, but I think the "Ohhh-eee-Ohhh" looping through the song made it a hard sell in the mainstream.
Yes, I agree. I think they did this as a way to give Carnie a 'lead single', because Chynna had 2 (with "Hold On" and "You're in Love") and Wendy had one (with "Impulsive"). I remember so hoping they would release "Eyes Like Twins" or "Next to You" instead, both songs which displayed Carnie's vocal range.
I ❤ their harmonies!!
Wilson Phillips was an amazing trio. A combination of extraordinary talent and beauty made thiis group one of the best musical acts of the 1990's and their music will always be timeless for many years to come.
Was? They still are.
This is definitely my favorite song by Wilson Phillips. There are definitely one of the best female trios ever. All such gorgeous and hugely talented women.
Carnie never got enough credit for Wilson Phillips' success. She was a genius at intricate vocal arrangements.
Of course! Her dad is Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, one of the most influential musicians of not only of California pop rock music, but of American music in general. It’s in her blood 🩸
Too many people focused on her weight instead of appreciating her talent. Kind of sad in my opinion. Now the same thing is being done with Adele.
I agree.
I love the sounds of the drums and guitars in this song!
Not only this song but the whole album.
These women rocked in the day...still love em...many many great tunes....the ending to this song is perfection!
Yes, the kids truly had respect for their parents' tradition of vocal harmonies. Seems like country music is the only place you hear it anymore, it's sad. But, nearly 20 years have gone by, it'll be exciting to hear what THEIR kids come up with!
3 beautifull ladies with amazing voices, makes me feel happy listening to their music! Not bothered if thin, fat, blonde or ginger!
Niki: Those were BEAUTIFUL words & I agree totally.2020.
These girls were (and still are) sensational. And this WAS their best track.
Robin Topping 3rd Aug 2014
Love Wilson Phillips Robin Topping. I agree they are Still Sensational.
What are they topping? And the 3rd of August? Looks like it was about 10 years ago. When weird people right their names on the comments, it just wreaks of creepy.
absolute amazing song...these ladies were so so underrated...this is my fav by them...PERFECTION ENDING TO THIS SONG....GENIUS GENIUS GENIUS!!!
More than any other of Wilson Phillips songs, this song shows each one of the girls "true" singing talents. i've always been a wilson phillip's fan. i remember the 1st cd i bought was their debut record.;-) they have great songs!
Just saw them live last night and they opened with this song. Carnie joked the music video was psychedelic...she wasn't kidding! Love them. Still sound great 25+ years later!
Im blown away by how much Wendy looks like Marilyn
I completely forgot how good Wilson Phillips is. I'm glad they've come to RUclips.
I'm a guy and I love this!
I remember hearing this riding in the summer camp van, going up to Hinkley, MN. This song came in the radio...There was a certain melancholy to it, because I was 17 and that would be my last summer as a kid. 30 years ago doesn’t seem so long, yet it was that long ago
Carnie Wilson looks so beautiful here. She is still beautiful. My crush on her has been reignited.:)
+John W Landry I love Carnie Wilson!!! ;)
They are all beauty
Love to see the bond exudes within the trio, it relates to the song and the glimpse of their childhood makes a perfect perk . it makes me miss my dear friends more!
Carnie's eyes are hypnotizing! I miss Wilson Phillips.
it`s all make-up guys
A group that threw away the stereotypes and just sang. They had the backup musicians and song-writers and voices to pull it all together.
Incroyable ! .. groupe des années 90 's ! .. 👍 .. que j'écoute encore ..
ウィルソン・フィリップスの曲の中でこの曲が一番好き。神曲だ。
My twin sister and I grew up very close until our teens when our lives went in different directions, loving 250 miles away doesn’t help, I sent we are only flesh and blood by Wilson phillips, as a teenager she was the president of beach boys in Ontario, and we shared our love for the Wilsons
Carnie was the prettiest of the three and her voice! I remember I bought this in cassette tape, I was in my second year of college living at the dorm. So many fun memories from my youth!
Wendy was an absolute dream!!
Carnie is my favorite too. ❤
I think this is one of their one of their forgotten hits....it didn't go to #1 but it hit the top 20....I think it was one of their best!
NBC played this during its montage of the 1991 NBA Finals after MJ won his first ring. Then for 5 straight years they used "Winning It All" by The Outfield. I miss the NBA on NBC.

This song...I remember listening to this song swimming one summer at my aunt’s place. That’s when I had my first crush on someone. But he didn’t show me the time of day.
this video is very colorful, and brings out the spirit of the 60's
I bought this song on cassette single, and the other side had it recorded in Spanish. It sounded really cool.
That's cool!
Beautiful. I thank God for Brian Carnie and Wendy.
Thank you so very much, Wilson Phillips!

The title "the dream is still alive" comes from a lyric in one of the Bangles' songs.
how is it
after AL these years . iREMEMBER the lyrics ?
🙂
Even tho two of them had a issues with drugs and alcohol they were one of the greatest ever
Indeed a beautiful song Carnie & Chynna looked really cute there the short hair look that Chyna had, made her look Dazzling. The song is an inspiration of how far we have overcome our heritage and that The Dream is Still Alive and well.
What a Beautiful Song.. Deep Heart Touching.
beautiful song
Still listening today
Better than the rubbish of today
VERY GOOOD.....TIME AFTER TIME
Never give up on your dreams
Anyone else notice how the chorus is an octave higher in other versions? This is the way I remember it.
Oh you remember when this song and album came out 22 years ago??
Agreed!! :c) I love her voice!
wow, look how long they have known one another! Friends forever! well, of course the two are sisters, but still
hey!!! this is good! i clicked here just to c how wendy looked, but chynna's background singing is fantastic!
the way they made carnie eyes, she looks hapa here
i bet the ladies r tired of reading how all us guys remember hearing this from a basketball game, haha!! i think i almost remember that...
2 decades went by just like that
Never saw this video till now!!!
The dream is still alive in us, Carnie, Wendy and Chyna. Your parent's legacy will live on in us, as they will live on in you. Cheers.
Strong messages peaceful world ! 1/31/2021/

For the people in Belgium The Dream Is Still alive for peace & unity
Love these ladies. I dream of seeing them in Concert! Wendy is my favorite but I have to say that Chynna was lookin good here. Either way, this is one of the best of singles they put out from their first album.
I Still Love THEM
This was one of their better songs. I had their debut CD, and from top to bottom, it was really neat.
Here's something funny...I remember NBC playing this song while running the closing credits after game 5 of the 1991 NBA Finals when Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls beat the Los Angeles Lakers.
Wendy looks so much like Diane Neal in this video. Diane would be a good choice if there was a Wilson Phillips biopic.
Most beautiful video I ever seen for the first time......today.
But I heard the song before in a different clip called Jennifer Aniston in 'Ferris Bueller' ages & ages ago.
Love Wendy Wilson.
This was the 5th single/video released from their debut album that came out in early 1990, this video was produced in either late 1990 or early 1991. My favourite track is release me 😂😂
Super muza beatyful girls 👍💋💖❤️💕😍
Much better than the album version
Girl power!! :)
They played this song after the 1991 NBA Finals on NBC after Michael Jordan won his first title against the Lakers.
We were all like WTF??? Wilson Phillips??!!
beaufiful and talented girls!
Wilson Phillips were from my generation, whereas the Beach Boys and the Mamas and the Papas were from my Dad's generation.
Chicago SKY! Haha. :) Just playin. I cover the WNBA for a website and the Sky are indeed a great bunch of gals.
A classic from Wilson Pickett 😂😂😂
This is my favourite WILSON PHILLIPS track.
But they turned out so many brilliant songs, just like their Dads did.
Where are they now?
Would love to see them live in Scotland, or anywhere.
Robin Topping - Mauchline Ayrshire Scotland - 4th Aug 2011
no trio ever like Wilson Philips....
more close ups of wendy w/ her hair up, damnit!!!
Yes they are all beutiful, but it's their harmony that i love the most.
John Hunter Phillips
"If We Ever Need A Super Man"
Los vídeos bien súper sencillos de ellas
Mas sin embargo su musica encantaba
Chynna is the best among the three. She really beautiful she is not just a singer but can be a great actress. Unfortunately after she married to William Baldwin I have not seen any either new album or movie from her.

I agree that entire album was hit after hit. not since Blondie's Parallel Lines had an album with a female lead voice(s) had so many excellent cuts.
Yes, I agree. I think they did this as a way to give Carnie a 'lead single', because Chynna had 2 (with "Hold On" and "You're in Love") and Wendy had one (with "Impulsive").
