I know it’s hard to watch the MV & read the lyrics at the same time. But I know people appreciate you guys trying to do both! Whatever works for you guys ☺️ but glad you liked the song & loved the reaction! I can’t wait for the 3rd & final song in the trilogy. Amygdala. It’s definitely one you want to really pay attention to both MV & lyrics. Such a great song!
I believe that music is like art. Everyone can interpret it differently and that's okay. If you can appreciate it and take something away from a song, I believe that's what BTS always try to achieve. They have a message that they always want to share. But don't be afraid to interpret it however you want. 💜
Just one small note: I believe that the "freedom" SUGA speaks about here is really about overall freedom, not only freedom of expression (although yes, for sure expression is mentioned, of course). Basically, it's the realization that practicing your own freedom can impinge on the rights of others (think the US during COVID and the mask debate, or anti-vaxxers who are breaking down the herd immunity for diseases long thought mostly eradicated (polio, measles)) but that have made inroads on coming back. This lyric is key, I think: "But I truly hope you differentiate freedom from self-indulgence." There are allusions in the song to idols who are expected to be perfect and get slammed with hate (just netizens "expressing freedom of thought 🙄) for doing something as minor as smoking or dating (SUGA smoking in this MV is definitely not random, in other words). It's incredibly poignant when you know what happened with SUGA this year - it's like he was foreseeing his own future.
Hi guys, just wanted to thank you for reacting to BTS this way. I really like your format, and the surprise factor. 💜 And I’m seeing you in the same room for the first time, loved it LOL
To my interpretation: Criminal Suga is an Anarchist, a rebel. Cop Suga is s corrupted Cop. Suga is not stealing the money for himself, he’s saying: you won’t give up this crazy pursuit of money? Doing everything for money no matter what or who you hurt in the path? I’ll take your money from you!!
So happy you guys decided to do the trilogy. It's totally okay not to get everything Suga is saying in the song. Whenever they drop an MV, we all have to watch it several times to try to pick up on all the details especially for international ARMYs who don't speak Korean so I appreciate you guys trying do it all at once. As someone who studied literature, I just wanna say there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to interpreting art. There's always going to be the artist's vision and intentions but once the song gets released, it belongs to everyone, and we are all free to take whatever we see in it as our own interpretation. Art will always mean different things to different people. Can't wait for you guys to do AMYGDALA. It's my favorite part of the trilogy, and it's definately the heaviest. Suga gets really raw and personal discussing his struggles with depression and it resonates with so many people. Finally, it was so great to see you guys all together in one room 💜
The easiest solution to lyrics+ mv issue is watch the thing twice - first without the subs just taking it in, then with subs matching the words to what's happening 😄
@tahbofficial I can get a bit pissy if people are disrespectful but I saw that reaction, I watch them all, and you weren’t. You never are. ARMY can get a bit touchy. But right now there’s a lot going on with bts being attacked, including false accusations against V that the military had to set right & death threats against Suga, so everyone is very protective right now. Only suggestion I have: never just go by the first definition when looking up words. BTS can use every meaning in the same song- ddaeng, daechwita, haegeum. Don’t worry, outside of an explanation video you’re not going to get everything.
omg embarrassed to say this but seeing all of y’all in a room together made me a little emotional! 😅 watching y’all’s bts journey has been so fun and i really love watching y’all absorb all the details. when i get into depressive slumps watching reactors get introduced to bts and start appreciating them is like my go-to self care, so i wanted to take some extra time to say thanks for being with me through some tough times this year. jake’s reaction to first love will stay with me for a long time 💜
Cop Suga is the bad one. At the very start, rogue Suga is robbing a drug den of their ill gotten gains and there is a bald guy making a call as Suga walks down the corridor, he is actually warning the cop Suga that they are being raided. (You see him taking the call as he walks). Suga just burns the money in the end. Also when he shoots cop Suga the onlookers don't care as he was corrupt. They even give rogue Suga a ride home!! He may be perceived as a bad boy but he rejects money and a life that isn't earned and will always do what is right in the end. Just like our REAL Yoongi.💜
Valeu! Hey boys, are you okay? Well, I'm loving the new video format, you guys in the studio are perfect. Well, sit down and here comes the textão. - The song's lyrics suggest a reflection on freedom of expression and how it can be limited by various factors, such as censorship, the oppression of ideas and even self-censorship motivated by fear of reprisals. Agust D invites the listener to 'get on board' with this freedom, to free themselves from the constraints that restrict individual expression. He highlights the importance of distinguishing between freedom and debauchery, suggesting that true freedom comes with responsibility and conscience. The song also addresses the overwhelming influence of information and how it can be manipulated to restrict free thought. Agust D criticizes modern society, where people can become slaves to capitalism, ostentation and prejudice. He warns of the need not to be swept away by the 'tsunami of information' and to maintain the ability to discern between what is genuine freedom and what is mere excess. That's it, I can't wait for the 3rd song 'Amygdala' it's one of my favorites and you need to hear it, I know it's a bit difficult but try to look at the lyrics because they're very important but it's okay if you can't I'll try to summarize after. And don't worry, we know it's very busy, so just take your time, we'll be here waiting 💜💜💜🇧🇷🫰🏻
Hey. ❤ Loved this set up, I can see you guys together. Happy Thanksgiving. My rap bias is Suga, and I betvyou know by now, that this comes in 3, first was Daechwita, second Haeguem, and last is Amygdala. 😊
Hahaha no pressure. I think last time I just commented on be aware it's a trilogy so there is a connection in some things.... but honestly it's not easy. You noticed the scar, the duality, maybe missed the internal struggle 😂 Just read the comments and people will probably spell it all out!! 😂 But this song is a bit of a different beast.
I love when the guy's write lyrics to bring in their culture. And outsiders then have to look up What the words or things mean And make it relevant to our situation, there's always common ground. He's portraying society that is holding them in from expressing themselves. With the one character and with the other, he's fighting for freedom so that he can express himself and do what he wants.
Hi guys.. I'm glad to see you all together!!! I love your reactions to BTS and I know there are explanation videos for Daechwita and Haegum, maybe you should watch them on your free time or better, do it here, and you'll get the whole picture so you could understand Amygdala.. keep up the good work and greetings from Mexico 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Jake... What the video till the end. What's it really about the criminal and the rules? The cop was dirty, so who is the bigger criminal...the one that one you know or the one that uses the power of authority? So look at what is saying about preconceptions, about having your own mind, and one of the main things he said, be said it twice... "Differentiate between freedom and self indulgence"

I was worried when Jake misinterpreted the big man at the top (the oppressor) with all the money running the show as a detective.
Wow, together in person this is epic! Did you look up what kind of an instrument haegeum is?
Well.... you'll be surprised by the 3rd... but no spoilers!
