    Something I noticed on yours is there is a tamper-proof seal of some type placed over the motherboard case so it can't be opened without that seal being broken. Makes sense that yours is ripped. LOL. But isn't that a seal that is put on by a gaming commission representative when chips are changed out so they know if anybody else has been in there who shouldn't be? If that's true, you should mention it to folks also. If that's true of course

    • @CowboySlots
      @CowboySlots  2 года назад +4

      That is absolutely CORRECT! excellent observation! Yes! Those seals are recorded and put on by the commission so the boards can’t be tampered with without them being present. THANKS!

      @@CowboySlots thanks that's good to know. I've got a little local casino just a couple blocks for me so I go there a lot and they know me pretty good so I'll stand around talking to them while they're clearing a paper jam or some other reason to be inside my machine. Now I'm going to say why is that tape down there broken. LOL PS, there sure isn't much inside the newer machines nowadays. I've got an early1980s Bally's $25 coin three line triple 7 with two progressive in my house and that thing is half mechanical and half circuit boards.. far as I can tell that chip is an 85%. Can't find a new one for it and it's not much fun at 85%. LOL

    I had the opportunity to work with commission and the slots department at Hollywood Columbus for a few years and witnessed the machines being delivered. The semi trailers were locked with tamper proofs and the commission had to be present to witness the unlock process and check every machine. Another step to ensure nothing is changed during the shipping and delivery process. Great video! 👍

    I was wondering if you could do a video on changing game play on machines. For example: My local casinos have notoriously known "advantage play" machines such as "Ocean Magic" from IGT. They have the gameplay changed where the bubbles are 100% random instead of how how they were intended to play (they normally just go up thr screen on each spin).
    I hope I explained it well enough but I'd really like to know how they changed the game play

    • @CowboySlots

    I used to have about 6 - 7 different casino within a 2 hour drive of my house I was never faithful to one casino - went to them all but during the pandemic I relocated to a small isolate town and I now have only 1 casino near me (about 10 minutes away) so now I am very loyal to the casino near me.
    QUESTION ONE: Do you see any downside to playing mostly at the same casino all the time? For example - the casino near me built a new fancy hotel during the pandemic and everyone tells me the casino used to be more generous but have tightened all the machines since they built the hotel because they need the money? Would this be true?
    QUESTIONS TWO: Do casino's, as a rule, buy or lease the Slot Machines they have?

    • @CowboySlots
      @CowboySlots  2 года назад

      Thanks for writing and watching! No, I don’t see any disadvantages to sticking with the same casino. I have my favorites and tend to gravitate towards them. As for the machines, there isn’t any law on lease vers buy. Most newer slots and themed based games are leased because it’s cheaper for them to do that. The casinos are free to buy or lease as their operations allow

    First of all, love your content! I find myself playing differently now, knowing better how these things actually work! It's interesting looking for those 'patterns' as the rng does its thing - very cool! But anyway, I was wondering if you might offer us some clarification about what you mentioned at ~ 9:05 (menu item 7.2.4 handpay) about setting handpay limits. Does that have any bearing on the odds of hitting a jackpot, such as limiting the number of large hits by increasing the number of smaller hits in order to achieve its payback percentage requirements (or vice versa)?

    • @CowboySlots
      @CowboySlots  2 года назад +1

      Good question. Handpay limits are typically set at $1200 to set off the “call attendant” to pay out by hand for taxes. However some casinos like to opt for a lesser amount to be considered a handpay and that’s what the limits are. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

    • @HomeSlots
      @HomeSlots 2 года назад +1

      All that setting allows is for the casino to set the threshold as to when the machine should lock up for an attendant. So, in most cases that would be $1199. Some casinos in Arizona set it lower, say around $600, even though you will not need to complete a W2G unless it’s $1200+ on a single hit.

      @@HomeSlots a single hit means I press spin, the reels do their thing, and that one screen pays 1200+, and that qualifies as a hand pay...
      That part makes sense to me. But what about bonus games? If you have 3 free spins and they're all 1000 dollars each for a total of 3000 for the bonus game, does the entire bonus game count as "one spin" or would this be a ticket you could just print out and take to the cage?
      That's something that's always confused me. Especially since I never play big enough to get those 😂

    Are you sure these aren't networked?! My understanding is that slots have always (back to the 80s) communicated via 2-wire shared bus back to a controller to report all alarms and all jackpots to the control unit and associated line printer. It's part of security and validating wins. But, yes, no remote configuration features. Just reporting.

    • @CowboySlots
      @CowboySlots  2 года назад +2

      Yes this is possible. When it comes to the lower-mid denoms like 2 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, those can often times be a mixed grey area or be the same or equal to other odds near its value. Best to always avoid lower denoms in general and stick with the denoms that are clearly defined such as $1 $5 $25 + machines.

    • @CowboySlots
      @CowboySlots  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for your question! No, the odds do not change in a bonus game unless of course the game specifically states that the bonus has different effects. For example, on some games when you enter the bonus it removes the lowest paying symbols. Thus increasing the chances of a larger hit.

    • @CowboySlots
      @CowboySlots  2 года назад +3

      Good question! It is not possible. The numbers are set by the manufacturer and the casino can only choose from the options given as outlined by the law. In another video u mentioned the odds of a lower denomination weren't as tight as a higher denomination machine. Now your saying a lower denomination is tighter. So if I'm playing a lower overall payout machine, play the higher denomination if multiple? Hope that made sense! Thank you!

    • @CowboySlots

      I think you may be confusing one video where I discussed higher versions lower payables mixed in with that. Lower denoms will always have worse odds than higher denoms, but you also have to take the game time into factor and volatility as well which can be confusing at times. In this video using my own machines I had all the denominations set to be equally the same, but in a casino setting this wouldn't be the case. There are a lot of variables with slots so its easy to mix some of them up. I appreciate your question!

      no nothing on the machine changes at all. The boxes have to be emptied daily or sooner if they fill up fast. there are actually two doors on the slot machine. The main door and the belly door. When emptying the box, the main door that has access to the board cant be opened because the drop team doesn't have authorization to open that door and its locked with a key they dont have. the belly door opens to just the cash stacker. @@CowboySlots I agree with the changing casinos for sure. In fact, I should have followed my first mind and driven to the casino a couple of hours away but as a woman of a mature age I prefer not to venture out on the highways alone late at night. I will plan a day trip for sure because even though I did not win the last time that I went to the casino that I like to go to, I can say I had a really good time and I did not complain about what I lost. However, at the local casino you rarely see anyone hitting anything and there were so many people complaining about not getting much play time. The machines are set very very tight and even though they refused to give me the RTP percentage a couple of employees did tell me not to say anything but that the casino has lost a lot of business due to the tight slots. So it is not me being a sore loser. When you gamble you expect to lose but you also would like to have a little fun in the process.

I worked as a game tech installing these machines and overheard the main tech being told which games to load toothed machines and setting them hot, from a SERVER. Also, please explain how a machine goes from HOT paying like mad, payout, then go stone cold, if the 'odds' remain the same. That is confusing.

    • @CowboySlots
      @CowboySlots  Год назад

      VGT games are not slot machines, they are bingo units. Your not playing slots but rather a group wide game of bingo on a server. The “slot” style unit is just there to give a visual of the bingo results. There is no such thing as a hot or cold machine. They naturally will swing throughout the course of their lifespan. The payback is theoretical over time (so example: over 10 years of play it will come out to 98%) has nothing to do with an individual play session.

      @@CowboySlots if a casino has a New machine that pays out the ‘Grand’ jackpot, would it be reasonable to assume that it will NOT pay out a Grand Jackpot in the near future? Statistically, if it has a 98% payout over an extended period of time and it pays out a huge sum early on, it will take a lot of time to rebalance its payout percentage. Thus, that machine, or bank of machines, are going to operate at a much lower payout percentage for a period of time before it pays out another large amount?

    What about server based games and changing the odds remotely? Many casinos are moving towards this type of system. Sure it’s expensive but cuts down on staff and pays for itself over time.

    • @CowboySlots
      @CowboySlots  2 года назад

      Actually most casinos are not moving towards server-based gaming. As we can see in a court case in Nevada that was struck down as casinos do not want it for security vulnerability. The percentage of server-based games in the United States is actually very small and it is not common. Even with those small amount of server-based casinos, the regulations are actually more strict on them to where they cannot just change the odds anytime they want to and they had to go through a lengthy process to do it.

      This is exactly how it’s done today. The servers do not control the odds of a machine period. They are there for analytics and player tracking and that is all. You can go ask any expert that actually works there and it’s been covered in depth in our interview with the gaming commissioner directly. So what you are hearing about a server controlling machines is simply false no matter how it’s spun. You are always free to believe what you want but the experts have made this clear multiple times and the laws also won’t allow it. Class 2 casinos can have central servers but they make up a very small percent of casinos in the country.

      They have better odds of paying out on weekends and days/times when it’s more crowded. Each casino is ran by its own gaming operators and owners, so they don’t all adjust their slot machines payout schedules the same way, or at the same times. But generally, you’ll have much better odds playing slots on weekends. Don’t ever play them on weekdays or any time it’s dead inside without a crowd. Casinos love paying out to the weekend crowd, not the weekday/business hours crowd who typically has less money.

  • @ajacinth
    @ajacinth 2 года назад

    I see you were able to change the odds per denomination. So for that machine, say 5 cent game, it doesnt matter if one placed a 1 credit per line bet compared to a 20 credit per line bet, the odds would still be the same? Also if that's the case playing 1 cent 5 credits per line, typically would be a lot worse than playing 5 cent 1 credit per line because the odds are typically worse for the 1 cent game?

    • @CowboySlots
      @CowboySlots  2 года назад +3

      That’s correct. The machine does not recognize between levels of bets within a denomination so when you are choosing a machine, one of the bigger factors to consider is the denomination of it. So if you had a multi denomination penny machine, you would have better luck playing less credits on the five cent choice as opposed to more credits on the penny choice

But if you draw a black marble, you win x amount of dollars (each black marble is worth its own amount). One of the buckets has 850 white marbles and 150 black marbles. The other bucket has 960 white marbles and only 40 black marbles. Regardless of which bucket you reach into, the outcome is still random and not predetermined by its owner.
