    “Best value for your dollar”….Well said. I agree. I have the Mawl, I am setting up a second option I originally looked at the Dbal a3, but I chose this Dbal D2. Thanks for your time with this review.

    I've had two of them over the past few years & 2 a3's. Loved them but ended up selling all of them as they were all over the wts sections for around $1000 like new in box. Wish I still had them now. Buy high, sell low - story of my life :D

    Great review! I really appreciate the segment on you cycling through the settings ! I haven't seen a review go through in detail and deliberately show its preformance through Nods one function at a time. Thank you! @Joshua C

      @@MICHIG00N i think you nailed it on the head ! I also really appreciate you going the extra step in mentioning the diffusing lens , I only came to know of them when I saw them on kosher supplies website. Glad ill get a chance to see it in action on your RUclips channel.
      I also appreciate that because your a normal person using products I feel confident im getting a real quality review. Not a bought opinion! Thank you , its not easy finding reviews on firearm equipment that is not from a big "personality " especially on niche expensive items such as these . I think your off to a great start!
      (Also I did the B&H photoshop email me a price for one , and a black D2 w/green laser they quoted me 1,259.99 ) hope that helps someone out there

      Thanks man. Everything on this channel will be honest reviews of personally paid for equipment. I may be able to get some products in on a T&E / Review & Return basis, but I will still maintain a completely unbiased view on everything I post.
      And that's a great deal on a D2! I'll add that to the description, thank you.

    FYI- The moment you turn on an IR Illuminator, it's NO LONGER Passive Aiming!

    • @MICHIG00N
      @MICHIG00N  Год назад +1

      True, but similar to using a white light, when passively aiming through an optic under night vision, a quick flash of IR light can help identify what's in a dark corner. Still ends up being lower signature than using IR Laser.

    Good review. I got an i2 9007 for my first device since the price was right and I had already dropped so much on NODS, mount, helmet, etc. Once I get more time in I'm going to pick up the D2. It's a big fat bitch but the power looks about as good as you can get with civilian lasers, even on par with a MAWL from what I've heard, at 1/2 - 1/3 the price.

    Don't forget to paint your kit Kings, see 0:11 for details.
    Not only will it look less like a rifle, it won't reflect IR light.

      Using the appropriate rattle can paint matters as well. Some paint will be more IR reflective.

    Good thing to start with but once you upgrade to the mawl you will never use anything else. But this is a good starter package

    • @MICHIG00N
      @MICHIG00N  2 года назад +4

      I think the MAWL is a great option if the money is available for one. Though I personally don't think it's worth the price tag. I've got a MAWL C1+, DBAL D2, DBAL I2 9007 & a FP PEQ-15 (all will be reviewed in time). And when it comes to performance to price it's hard to beat the D2 in the civilian IR box market. Especially once you add a VWS Diffuser Cap to it. Though they all have their own pros and cons.

    • @pmixon4685
      @pmixon4685 2 года назад +1

      I agree I haven't used my d2 in a while maybe I'll dig it out and get the Defuser

    • @MICHIG00N
      @MICHIG00N  2 года назад +1

      For sure give the VWS Diffuser a try. I've got a quick review on the diffuser too. As a diffused IR Illuminator it walks around FP PEQs with diffuser on all day. Similar to MAWL with CQB cap up except a little more M600V like.

    Would you say that the D2 is worth it over the 9007 if it is going on a 6 inch .300blk?

    • @MICHIG00N
      @MICHIG00N  2 года назад +3

      I think on a 300BLK the 9007 would serve you well, especially paired with a 300V/600V weapon light. However if maximum illumination or punching through photonic barriers would be important (defensive weapon used in variable lighting conditions) I still the the D2 is the go to for the price. However Space would be at a premium on a firearm if that size.

  • @Rottidad

    Realistically how long of a shot could an average shooter make at night with the laser.

    • @MICHIG00N
      @MICHIG00N  Год назад +1

      It really depends on moon light / weather conditions, preferred laser zero, rifle caliber, etc. But I'd say average US shooter with a 5.56 AR and a DBAL D2 could hit 150 yard shots consistently. But with some night training and a little experience that distance increases significantly.

    I mightve missed it but gow far is the d2 usable and is there a "fullpower" version? Im new 😂

    • @MICHIG00N
      @MICHIG00N  11 месяцев назад

      The D2 was specifically made for the civilian market to fill a hole in the market; poor illuminator power by using LED emitter. The usable range on the D2's illuminator is 500 yards in my opinion, but honestly PID is possible to 700-800 yards with it pretty easy. It's a great civ device, but it's pretty heavy. At one point was the king of civ devices, but there are smaller, lighter civ units that use VECEL and LED that work overall better nowadays.
