    Thanks for your video review. I had been toying around the idea of trying one of these and after watching your video ordered one for my CZ457 Synthetic. Being spoiled with the out of the box accuracy of my 2 CZ457 varmint MTR's but too heavy for carry squirrel hunting I bought the synthetic for that sole purpose. Out of the box accuracy was meh with various bulk ammo but Norma Tac-22 appeared to be the most promising so enter the LS barrel dampener. LS instructions state if the barrel is free floating then position the dampener close to the muzzle and work down the barrel but if not free floating position position at the forearm and work up the barrel.
    My synthetic's barrel is free floating so I attached it just past the thread protector and started working it down the barrel. I was amazed how the poi changed the farther down it went to the point that groups started opening up with a shotgun pattern. I slowly moved it back towards the muzzle and the 5 shot groups tightened back up. It now sits about 3/4" - 7/8" from the thread protector and places 5 rounds @ 50 yrds. within the inner circle of an ARA 50 yrd. factory target. I've also seen 5 rounds clover leaf on the center dot if I do my part, it really does work. It may do better with match ammo but that's too expensive just for hunting and casual range shooting, besides that's what the MTR's are for. I will play with it some more when our range reopens but consider it dialed in for now.

    This product worked for me on a rifle i couldnt find a decent load for. I took my standard load of 43.5g of varget under a 168g SMK that my other 308 likes and started putting rounds down range. Positioned the damper 1.5" from the muzzle closed the groups alot. Moved the damper to 1.25" inches from the muzzle and started punching repeatable groups between 1/2 MOA to 1 MOA. I was very surprised because I bought this thing for chits & grins just to mess around with. So yes, it works very well for me on a howa 1500 with a sporter barrel that didnt like anything I fed it. For the money, its worth a try. As long as you dont over heat the barrel it should last.

    I ordered 2. 6.5cre. Word great after it was adjusted. Dropped my groups in half.

    My experience, depends on the gun. I tried it on a 700 and a browning. Got nothing with the browning. It works great on the 700.

      Excellent information. Makes sense that it would have different effects for different platforms.

    I tried one as more of a joke then anything,not thinking how hot my .243 win barrel gets shot a couple rounds moved it,shot some a couple more and starting thinking this actually maybe doing something, found a decent spot on the barrel,loaded the 10 round mag took my time shot 2 five round groups,the thing melted to the barrel had to use a razor to slice it open to get it off

    Finding precisely where it makes its optimal function isn't a fixed location. Cover the entire exposed barrel with a lightweight silicone does the job and requires zero adjustment.

      So your saying a rubber/silicon sleeve would be just as if not more effective? That would be worth testing!

    • @approachingtarget.4503
      @approachingtarget.4503 2 года назад +1

      @@TheDailyAmerican yes. I've made one for every long barrel I've owned. It makes a difference on them all. I took a cheap t/c compass in 3006 that had 3 " groups at 100 yds and have now a .5" group with the silicone sleeve and some epoxy around the lug. The AR platforms don't tighten up as much, but still have improvements. In my experiments they work best with free float barrels. Long wooden stocks like on the M1 grand. It doesn't increase accuracy.

      Where or how could I acquire one of these for testing?

      @@TheDailyAmerican you can make them very easily for around $10.

      @@approachingtarget.4503 excellent news. I assume this would be a silicon compound easily sourced and spread on the barrel to set or did you make a mold?

    Another issue with that ruger is the magazine tends to damage the bullets, if RUclips videos can be believed.

    Really, you’re using an AR to test that with, the last 3 inches of barrel! 🤨

      Well an rpr but it’s the same deal with that short of a barrel to test. Made a difference though.
