- In this Video i´m trying out the Pearl Compact Traveler Kit (コンパクトトラベラー) - a small compact kit which is perfect for schools, street drummers and small stages. The Pearl Compact Traveler kit is a godsend for low key rehearsals and gigs in small places. The snare drum sounds crisp and dry. The bass drum is surprisingly low in pitch. So handy for so many different occasions and so easy to carry around! Perfect for Street Drummers and Small Stages!

I love this kind of weird little cocktail kit and get such a kick out of seeing a great drummer bleeding every last bit of juice out of such a limited sonic pallete. Amazing playing as ever, Christian! Also, the kit sounds HUGE! Is that the way you've mic'd it? Do you think if a guitarist set up just the kick drum, they could thump along in an acoustic setting? It looks like just a skin on a ring from this angle!

Hello Filippo! I can't install my ddrum-bd-trigger because of the big wood-rim behind the normal rim of the drum head. I think with smaller Trigger-Systems it works. With my old contact-trigger on the drumhead it works. If you want to play heavy foot ostinatos or fast double kicks i think it's complicated because of the vibrations of this compact kit.🤔 Best wishes, Chris!

Just curious, would you be able to attach and play a double bass pedal without the kit moving around?

Hey Christian, fantastic demo!
A quick question, I'm a home recording musician and thus far percussion has been the biggest sonic obstacle for me. I don't have room for a real kit in my studio. And whatever percussive instruments I get need to able to be disassembled fairly easily because my space is so small. With that in mind, this seems like a fantastic option. How would you say this would work as a very simple recording kit? This video gives me a lot of hope because it sounds fantastic here (you've clearly mic'd it very well). Still I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Hello! Thanks four your feedback. Pearl`s compact traveler kit only includes a 18" bass drum and 10" snare mounted off a 3/8 post. You also need the hardware and cymbals, maybe some Toms (Add-Ons). The Pearl Compact Traveler Kit is perfect for unplugged sessions in small rooms and street gigs with percussion ensembles. The volume of the Pearl Traveler kit can be compared to an acoustic set. But there are some differences to the sound of other acoustic sets! The snare sounds like a piccolo snare! My bass drum head is very loosely in order to achieve as much bass as possible. Here is a Handy-Video with the "Live-Sound" of my Pearl Compact Traveler Kit. I didn't muffled the bass drum! Have you already thought about a compact Edrum - different sounds? Best wishes, Chris!

In this Video i play 12er Masterwork Resonant Hihats! I think 12er or 13er Hihats (crisp sound) are very good with the pearl compact traveler kit. It's a matter of taste!🤔 Best wishes, Chris!

Hello!🤗 The bass drum head is very loosely in order to achieve as much bass as possible. The snare is not tuned high either.

I think the sound is very different to "normal" bass drums, the "tone"- volume is much lower, more attack sound. I think you can experiment with the drum head! 🤔 Best wishes, Chris! 😊🥁

I have an Edrum to practice in the evening at home. The volume of the Pearl Traveler kit can be compared to an acoustic set. With Mesh Heads there will be not much tone - no resonance!
