Minneapolis in the rain! I visited last December in the snow and loved it! The rain is so beautiful! Wow! More videos please! So want to leave California! Hopefully, one day!
@ 12:45 It's interesting that the tallest skyscraper in the city has retained the name "IDS," which stands for "Investor's Diversified Services." A venerable investment company whose name is now "Ameriprise" and whose headquarters are a block away at the Ameriprise Center (shown at 44:45 in the video). The Philip Johnson designed IDS was such a game changer to downtown way back in 1974 that I'm guessing the retention of its original name still has the cachet to make it the premier Class A office location downtown. Even against newer properties like the Wells Fargo Center or Capella Tower, both of which are also iconic towers designed by internationally famous architects and are of near equal height to the IDS.
Always appreciate your comments and the facts they bring. I never knew ids was Ameriprise. They have another building at 3rd Ave south and 10th st too. All three of those tallest buildings in Minneapolis are the work of architects who went on to do really significant work throughout the Midwest, US, and globally. Worthy of RUclips videos going into their history by someone better educated on it than me.
Right when the video starts. The building on the left with the parking garages. I've washed the outsides of those windows from a bosuns chair and a dozen other buildings in MPLS back in the 90s
Back in North Carolina now, but we were back up in Minneapolis Thursday until this morning for a wedding last night. On Thursday we got the walk in…from downtown to Loring Park to Uptown (Magers& Quinn shopping) and then even on to Mill Valley Kitchen in SLP for dinner. After that it was raining so we took Uber back to the hotel downtown. But yesterday, the day you filmed this, we started the day with the blue line to MOA because we thought we’d stay indoors but still walk around. But then we got hungry so we returned downtown to drop things off then we walked to Nordeast for lunch at Stray Dog. Got completely soaked getting there, so we took Uber back (embarrassingly, for a short drive). At least thanks to one of your recent videos I knew the 3rd Ave bridge was closed so we took Hennepin. We absolutely loved being back home even if it was so short. Can’t wait to move back next year! Now I can feel cold and wet again watching YOUR downtown walk from yesterday!
Mil Valley Kitchen was excellent, as it’s always been. We used to go there regularly when we lived in SLP. It was very much worth the long walk. So based on when you filmed your walk on Friday, and when we were out there, too, I was actually looking to see if you caught us on video on 8th St and Hennepin. Very close coincidental timing.
I have a ton of great memories from there (1996-2021). Your videos take me back. In a good way. Thanks.

MN is the place to be. Kind of regret the possibility of not being able to stay here =(
Will do! Appreciate you 🙌

How was mill valley kitchen? I hadn’t heard of it but it looks great.
Glad you had a good time! Enjoy, and stay dry ☂️

I live in Minisoda
Try walking in snow and wind for five months out of the year. I left that city as soon as I could back to the south. Nah never again
To each their own. The winters here are brutal enough to push many great people back to warmer places
Yeah,Frey & Walz didn't allow the rioters to destroy quite all of it.Only $500,000,000 worth.
this sounds like a comment from someone who does not live in Minneapolis but in the suburbs of it
NURSE HE'S OUT
What?! You were out there today? Hope you bundled up! The cold is seeping in. Cheers!
I was not prepared 😂
I had an umbrella and a coat but my hands got pretty cold. I don’t think I am mentally prepared to take my gloves out again yet.
