I ordered this one from fidanza. There is a new one now that is a direct fit without cutting the housing. Haven’t tried it yet. cosmoracing.com/en/toyota-corolla-2019-2022-1-6l-1-8l-2-0l-base-l-le-s-se-xse-apex-altis-hatchback-6-speeds-sport-short-shifter-toyota
Yo, im about to get a 2021 Toyota corolla with the 6-speed manual and i thought about putting a short shifter. If it works on the newer model, i’ll definietly look at this video as a guide.
looks like the old twm performance shift kit. such a shame that the company is now defunct cause their shifters and shiftknobs were phenomenal. edit: now get yourself a weighted knob. 400g is usually what i go with.
I think there was a change in the design mid-way through 2019 on the gearshift for the 6MT... (Mine is also a 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback XSE) I purchased this short-shifter, and everything went exactly as in your video except for one major thing... the reverse lock-out wasn't functional; I could literally put into Reverse without the lockout mechanism being utilized. As it turns out, the metal extension on the short-shifter assembly was too short and couldn't bump against the plastic of the shifter assembly. What I wound up having to do is to fabricate (Ok, that's giving myself too much credit.. I hacked this together) a plastic extension for the shifter mechanism and bolster it with some plastic epoxy and a few self-tapping screws to hold it in place. A bit of filing and trimming, and the reverse lockout was functional once again.. though it's still a bit of a bodge job. I used the strongest stuff I could get my hands on .. plastic repair binary putty that holds up to around 3000lbs so I'm hoping it'll hold up over the long run. Just an FYI for everyone; this does work and it works great, but you might have to fabricate a bit of a plastic wedge in order to restore the functioning of the reverse lockout. -Hinoki
I can't take the credit there are guys on a forum that did it first, I just made a video tutorial to go along with it lol. So the boot stays up by itself pretty good, if I used a soft cloth boot it wouldn't hold, it would need to be secured. There's a lot of different ways you can do it.
Thank you for the video Big Rome! The guy you mentioned is me! I posted a write-up back in 2019 on the FB forums after discovering the tC fit. You are right in regards to removing the center console. You wouldn't have to disconnect the shifter cables at all but good job! Cosmo Racing now makes a direct fit STS for 14+ Corollas HB/ Sedans equipped with 6mt. I have also reaching out to Fidanza Performance they will be making on as. well. @Hatchiburu
The bushings came with the kit. It had everything you needed except lubricant. I didn’t measure before and after because I was too excited to put it in so I forgot. But it feels like it’s a good inch or 2.
when you cut that tiny piece off, is it nessecary?
For this one it was necessary. There is one for our vehicles where there is no modification needed
@@bigrome596 thank you, this vid a big help.
@@johnnybui7392 I appreciate it brother!
Will this mod cause over reffing problems? I don’t want to hurt my fragile 4 cylinder motor ?
4 cylinder motors are cheaper than your blown ram motor lol
Why do the throws look the same?
It’s definitely shorter. The original throws were way longer
Will this fit my 05 dodge Cummins?
Where can i buy the short shifter

I’ve heard of some guys putting those in the newer ones. They had no problems. And congratulations!
From where I can get the short shift? I searched in Google could not find.

Thanks for the video. Recently picked one up. I will try to grab before/after measurements of height and reduction of shift length.
Sweet! That would be awesome!
Hi everyone, I having problem with my reverse lock, does not lock, anyone has this problem?
Great video! Thinking about doing the same thing to mine! I just got a 2021 Corolla Apex and I don’t like how long the throws and the shifter are.
Great video! Why did you cut that tab out? Is that the only "modification" needed. Thanks
Thanks! Yeah that’s the only one. It is for the 5th gear. It will catch on it when you put it in 5th if you don’t.
Would you happen to know if this Short Shifter fits a 2018 Toyota Corolla?
I don’t know. I think the 2014-2018 have one specifically made for them.

Any pointers on how to remove the linkage from the shifter assembly?
I want this for my 'Rolla.

I dunno where or how you got the idea to use a scion shifter, but THANK YOU for this video. It's amazing. But how do you keep the boot stationary?

Good job tato!!
Thank you baby!
Other than trimming out that tab for 5th gear, are there any other issues to know about driving
I’ve had no issues. It’s so much better for me.
Will this fit a 22 HB ??
how much shorter are the throws?
got the part above thanks
Beautiful 😍🙌🏽
The four I guess adapters that you put on the bottom to mount the short throw in. Did you have to purchase those or did they come with the kit?
And also how much height does it drop from the standard throw?
