I had a sweet hole shot at a hare scramble in Ohio that had like 80 riders in it. It helped that I always had a good start at my local races for sure. But I never expected to do it at a dead start 80 rider lineup. Was a great feeling. 30 minutes later my rear sprocket came apart because the sprocket bolts had vibrated loose. DNF
@@mr.channel6467 nope but they were talking about hole shots and that’s what made me think of it. Just a heads up comments don’t have to be based off the title there smarty. Wow I can tell your a real genius.

Growing up racing in Fernley NV that track would get sand whoops so bad all over after 3 laps us out of shape beginners were so dead could barely hold on to the bike
Yeah but the drugs and illegal shit didn’t make anyone look good. I had teachers in school think I’m a punk just cause I race dirtbikes cause they saw crusty demons
@@mattburnett4185 no it kinda sucked. If I wanted to go to amateur nationals as a kid teachers refused to give me the homework or do the test early. 1 AM race would give me 5 unexcused tardies cause “motocross isn’t a real sport” but you do get the instant badass label in school for motocross so that’s a plus
In 90's - 2000's Australia I didn't see sx racing , but crusty demons were awesome to watch, (and inspired many of my later court appearances) I discovered as a dirtbiker you will always be considered an outlaw, even when you wave to little kids.
I believe what they said about holeshots. I'm by no means an A rider, but at the handful of events I've done, I've always holeshoted. I just know how to, IDK
Great interview, always like hearing from JM. Seems like yesterday watching him race 250cc supercross at the Indianapolis Hoosier Dome when he was getting booed by the majority of crowd due to the crowd lean to in state suprecross rider Mike LaRocco,. Mike was coming back from an injury (broken arm?) and did a solo parade lap on the track while the sound system in the dome blasted Aerosmith "Back In the Saddle ". JM won the 250cc class that night and I told everyone I went to watch the race with he's special. They wouldn't have any of it the time, they liked Damon Bradshaw and Jeff Matiasevich (Chicken). I think around mid 1995 they were all over JM, in my opinion he was to supercross what Micheal Jordan was to NBA in the 90's.
It also gave guys who raced but not at the top level a way to make $$$$. Crusty and the X Games was one group , Supercross another then outdoor. MX in the 90'S early 2000s was king.
Deegan had zero impact on Supercross but he did manage to set back freestyle TV coverage for 3 or 4 years. He was the original focal point for FMX and the dumb ass was too ignorant to eliminate using the F bomb and other choice curse words when the microphone was in his face. After just one TV show the networks dropped FMX coverage for a number of years. Thank You Metal Mulisha
You must be a complete moron. That was what people tuned in to see. Deegan and The Mulisha against Travis. Mulisha as a “brand” is still around and owned by Brian and Larry. 95% of the “Mulisha Family” riders still have name recognition to this day. Hell even the core Mulisha supporters had a split years back when Larry and Brian had a falling out over Brian making it more corporate and Larry wanting it to stay “core” to what it started and was meant to be.
It’s the whole “do as I say not what I did in the past.” Learn from my mistakes and don’t repeat them. Just because I did it and it worked out for me doesn’t mean it will work out for you. Just one man’s opinion.🤷🏼♂️
Freestyle is better, cooler and requires way more skill than racing. And it’s a lot more dangerous! And nobody “ruined supercross” that’s such a dumbass way to think!
Time for a history lesson! It was the Boozefighters motorcycle club that created the rebel biker image, long before the Hells Angels were even a thing. The Boozefighters were also the first motorcycle club to put Holister on the rebel biker map, back in 1947. Boozefighters are and will always be the original wild ones!
The amount of pain and suffering Brian Deegan has endured to go another route should never be looked over, did 360s went to hell and back and still can ride all hemmed up.I can't believe Jeremy can even pedal a bike let alone line up for moto after his surgeries. Who empties these guy bed pans, seems nobody remembers the injuries associated with riding.I couldn't stand to put my kids on the cold steel operating table. Instead of building death machines, the whole sport should work on safety gear and more manageable machines instead of inflated egos and quick cash kids. Remember NASCAR put a limit to engine displacement before it was an unobtainable family pass time, that's what's happening now in moto.

Jeremy has so opened up the past ten years plus, and it is just awesome!!! such a great insight! He tells it as it is and was.
I remember being at the LA Supercross for Deegan's ghost ride across the finishline. lol That was crazy at that time
God I love these interviews with McGrath! So awesome seeing my childhood hero again in a fresh new way!!
Indeed! He is so open now in the interviews, as he has nothing to hide, and nothing to boast about etc now .And a wise mind too with today's racing.
McGrath was the instigator of the freestyle movement, doin' that Nac Nac started it all.
The first edition CDD was off the chain even my kids loved it.
And the music.
Must have raised them right!!! Braaaap

Not a chance , there is no comparison. I love free riding to my core . But there is nothing like a fast lap on a Super cross track..
The best interview yet. Thanks man
Great interview! Love this!
JM's insight is gold!
I saw Stanton, McGrath, Carmichael, and James Stewart. Pretty happy memories for me!
Seen everything since Gary Jones in 70, the start of US nationals. 👀
