  • Jeremy McGrath is the King of Supercross. With 72 wins and 7 championships he stands alone as the man inside a stadium. Obviously I am a lifelong fan of MC but it wasn't until recently we got to hang out at Mammoth Motocross where I got to see the secret to all of his success. He really love riding his dirtbike.

Great interview. I've been a fan of Jeremy's since the early 1990s.. I became a fan when I watched him on a Team Peak Pro-Circuit Honda 125. He crashed in the first corner at a supercross. He was in last place. He got up and went straight back to first and won the race. Freaking epic! I've been a fan ever since.

KTM could not have given MC a linkage-equipped bike unless they used their 1-year works exemption, which they already used in 1997 for the 4-stroke bike.

Truth right here - this is a great interview with a dirt bike racing legend.
The best thing about it? McGrath has a lot to say, he is articulate, and he gets to speak without being constantly talked over by the interviewer. Oh how that annoys me 😆

I was lucky enough as a kid to catch McGrath on the Honda in the early 2000s when he came over to Europe for a goodbye tour and raced Sheffield supercross with DV.
Tell you as a kid seeing McGrath race for the first time and just being able to watch him race in person was unforgettable.
He has the aura around him on and off the bike, I can remember so much about that night. No wonder they called him “showtime”
Can remember him winning his heat race and pointing into the crowd over the finish line jump and I swear he pointed right at me 😂
He crashed in the main but charged through and how insane it was, it’s only a small arena so the had part of the track outside, then when they came back in they had a whoop section, so it was pretty exciting not knowing what was happening outside then they come charging back in through the whoops which McGrath was miles better than anyone there.
And yes he did so the nac nac when he won the main.
A lot of names raced that night in the support class.
Max Anstie, Tommy Searle, Gino Rea.

The King is humble enough to not tell the obvious truth : KTM used MC for publicity but gave good bikes to Langston. The same shit happened with Yamaha when they gave Vuillemin better bikes, even worse a better salary. Yamaha did the same to Rossi in Moto GP with Lorenzo because in Motocross you're done at 30 years olds. Sad ending for the biggest icon in dirtbike's history.

  • @ShaunSavage-kl9pd

Sport has become to corporatised unfortunately. There is to much money at stake and the sportsman no longer do it for the fun of it. It’s all about selling products for the sponsors you have. It’s taken a lot of the fun out of it and a privateer can no longer be competitive like the old days. It’s a real shame.

Really wish I could have been apart of the dirtbike or atv scene back then instead of on the sidelines.. I've never got to meet Jeremy but I've met a bunch of his buddies and heard alot of stories.. I'm happy I've got to do what I have done.. I wish atvs could get the coverage that the bikes do.. I'm 38 have seriously been considering trying to go out with a bang and racing sx. Wish they make a 350 class or do away with the 450s.. I rode one last week it's so mean! It's the perfect motor for a quad but man it's a handful on 2 wheels!

They won both mx2 and MXGP this year (I know it says GasGas on Prado’s bike)
It’s who they hire that’s the problem, only Dungey and Roczen have been high profile, Webb is good and won 2 SX titles but he’s struggled as a 450 rider, where’s Dungey and Roczen won and raced top 3 in both mx and SX on the KTM.
