The stock wheels look better and as you said won’t cause suspension damage and are actually rated to tow. The aftermarket eliminates what the truck was actually built for as there is. No way I’d ever tow with low profile wide tires like those. On top of that the stock tires won’t cause damage to vehicles behind you as well as yours and are actually legal. You can definitely find wheels and tires that are a bit wider and better looking than the factory that are still tow rated, won’t cause suspension damage, aren’t a danger to cars behind you as well as being legal.
Actually I had buddies who ran those type of wheels and tow a massive goose neck trailer and his truck’s suspension does just fine.( you could always upgrade to a much better suspension) now the whole damaging thing doesn’t happen as often. But if you really wanna guarantee it, you can put mud flaps on it.. problem solved plus the wide wheels really gives the truck a lot of character, the stock wheels really just makes the entire truck look like a grandpa truck, sorry, not sorry.
@@LyttonKing it’s not just about the suspension. Tires have a maximum load rating. It’s stamped right on the tire. Hauling heavy loads you should be utilizing 10 ply or higher depending on the weight. You also don’t want low profile tires like that because there’s no cushion if you hit a big bump or pothole. Plus with heavy loads your tires will compress some as well. Running down the highway at 70-75 mph and having your wheel bent causing a blow out will be very dangerous. Mud flaps also won’t fix all the problem. He would have to put really large fender flairs on it in order to cover the entire wheel. I understand some people like the looks and I understand why. Upgrading your wheels and tires to a better looking larger size while staying inside the fenders is completely possible and done every day. I’ve had to work accidents that were caused by another vehicle be it a car or truck or a semi truck throwing objects through someone’s windshield. In one case an occupant was very seriously injured and in another case it caused a secondary accident when the driver walked other brakes and tried to swerve out of the way thus hitting another vehicle which in turn caused additional crashes. It’s just a safety thing. You have to ask yourself don’t you want your family to be as safe as possible while driving on the road? It’s already dangerous enough, we don’t need something else to worry about as well. It’s why most states created a law stating that your wheels cannot stick out past the factory fenders unless they are properly covered by fender flairs and of course mud flaps and in that case they cannot stick out past the rear view mirrors.
The fact you changed them to actually use the truck kinda proves a point people make. They’re not only ugly, but also impractical. Great video as always Matt! This trailer is going to be a god send for ya! I picked up a small enclosed trailer for Dirt Biking, a little overnight camping for Dirt bike weekends and well all of the other stuff you need trailers for. Thanks for posting!
Very good deal. FYI for the next time. Excellent temp repair, however. I had a similar situation. A very nice older gentleman suggested. You are going to love the electric power trailer jack, I have used one on my enclosed trailers for at least 10 years now and I love it. You should have the jack plug wired so that if you connect the trailer plug your truck will power the jack. You can get much more power from your truck as a power source than the battery alone, and your truck should have a power provision already in the trailer outlet in the bumper, you just may need to connect the wiring under the hood that came from the factory, or it may already be connected since your truck is a 3/4 ton. Great move getting the trailer for so cheap.

I'm weird and I admit it. I always say "what I would have done" and this is no different. I would have put the battery box inside the trailer to reduce theft, and installed a solar panel or two with an extra battery for the lights and a trickle charger for the lift winch. Get some square or round aluminum tubing to reconstruct the roof structure using some basic T fittings and bolts to both hold the walls together and provide some ribs so I could use either white Tyvek Sheeting or some white Sail Cloth to form the roofing. A bit of a process but it would be a lighter structure and with the translucent nature of both materials you wouldn't necessarily need day time lighting, and could glue LED strip lighting to the aluminum ribs for night time lighting which could run off a small battery kept charged by a few solar panels mounted to the roof or to the side of the box. I doubt if the roofing material would be 100% dry.... but ..... yeah, clear sealant on the roof top could make it water proof. Maybe use aircraft canvas and doping... that would work too.

Scraplife Garage is one of the best RUclips channels out there. 😀 entertaining and educational. What more can you ask for 😀
Agreed! He's blowing my channel out of the water lol.
@@matt13ross I enjoy your videos for the educational and entertainment as well. I agree with the others that you deserve a higher subscriber number. Keep em coming 😀
I will thank you!
Stock wheels are 🤮 but great for the trip you took✅ ( I’d throw plastic loom over the electric tape on the wiring, it’ll look better and more finished….imho )
nice now i can buy my next project car now yay
Stock tires and rims for the win!! Looks like a truck now.
Stock wheels are average but a million times better than those hideous pimp style wheels!
That’s a steal on the trailer
We make fun of the people that put big wheels and tiny tires on big trucks. What's next squatting it?
Also if you feel you need to change them out to tow a trailer.... probably says more about it than any of us can.
Lolol you caught a shot of one of my buses! NYCD viewer!! From the BX
Ahaha small world!!
Wow when you said the bronx 😅, I grew up there i couldn't make out the area but it looked familiar 🤔
Yeh, finally made the truck look good
You deffo need bigger wheels than the stock, but those deep dish are just not right imo. That said, it’s your truck - do what you want :)
