    Everyone remembers them just for the loss. They were probably the most balanced team ever. 1st in defense, 2nd in offense, 13-1 on the regular season, 3 shutouts, and an mvp backup qb

    Minnesota QB Joe Kapp (1:05:17) would not forget this game and the way the Colts manhandled him. He vowed revenge in 1969. And in the Vikings' home opener in Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, Minnesota, Kapp threw for 7 TDs in beating the Colts 52-21

    60 minutes in Miami did erase the fact....because Shula said if we lose this game every thing we worked for is out the window....Shula was basically finished in Baltimore after losing the Super Bowl

    Guess Earl Morrall did see Jimmy Orr on one of those flea flickers.

      Yeah..,go figure....I remember that like it was yesterday and did a double take when Earl threw the interception. ...our whole season went out the window with the loss

    • @johnbuie966

      Jimmy Orr was always the primary receiver on the flea flicker and always down the left sideline. Morrall saw him, he just didn't throw it to him in Super Bowl lll. Why Shula didn't kick the field goal to make score 16 to 10 late in game is beyond me. Colts still had 3 timeouts left and could have gotten ball back and given Unitas chance to win game 17 to 16. Lots of weird stuff happened in Super Bowl lll.

    • @walterseverin607
      @walterseverin607 8 месяцев назад +1

      Perhaps Morrall threw the super bowl? Given his lackadaisical performance and curiously not throwing the flea flicker to a wide open Orr who he did see

      @@johnbuie966Lou Michaels had already missed 2 FG’s that day, one being only a 27 yarder.

      The one thing that alway amazed me, was how successful they were, running Snell to the left side. No other team that season, was able to run the ball against their defense like that. Also, they were too preoccupied doubling up, on Maynard; probably didn't know about his injury earlier against the raiders.

    SB III was a total team loss. Not just Earl had a bad day.

    • @patricksmith5282
      @patricksmith5282 7 месяцев назад

      If Earl has only a mediocre day, the Colts win easily. The Jets were +4 in turnovers and only won by 9 points. Plus Michaels missed two very make able field goals.

    This was the 69th season of the legacy of the Dayton Triangles franchise. First NFL game, first televised game, won the greatest game ever played, first black head coach to win a title.

      The NFL came into existence in 1920. The Colts( not the All American Conference Colts) did not come about until 1953( transplanted New York Yankees). How could they've the first team? NFL games were televised prior to 1953.
