Suge Knight turned the music industry upside down cuz he would march into white execs offices and fuck shit up if his artists didn't get royalties they were owed. Jay Z was the next step up. Record labels are trying to regain control so they are less and less likely to back rappers who will make smart moves, because the labels feel that long term investments aren't viable when the artist is independent minded. Especially now that CDs don't sell so labels depend on 360 deals, which artists are rightfully wary of. Look at Baby and Wayne... Em and 50... Wayne with Drake and Nicki... you don't see labels building artists like that no more.
