    Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: "What platform do you play these Classic COD's on?"
A: Xbox Series X (Backwards compatibility)
Q: "Is it hard to find matches for these games?"
A: If you stick to TDM and play during peak hours you should have little to no issues finding matches relatively easily.
Q: "How often do you run into hackers?"
A: I can go weeks without running to a hacker on a majority of these older COD's. Black Ops 2 seems to be the most hacker infested in my experience with most other COD's being significantly less likely to run into hackers.

Its how i met one of my best friends, lived the other end of the country, played playstation together for roughly 17 years, ended up moving in with him for abit while i was homeless. Then set up camp near him. Now we work together and have a business together. Cod4 lobby, we met arguing about using juggernaut on cod4.

i could still get into lobbies where everyone was chatting in mw2019, i'd argue it was more than there was in bo4.
the entire reason we aren't in game chat anymore to begin with is because of the shitty "party chat" systems on consoles that hide you from game chat.
there isn't even an option on playstation to hear both at the same time, idk about xbox tho. it also has to do with normies getting into games around 2014 and being pussies.

It's so weird to me how games are made in a way that HATES socialization. They're all made to be hyper competitive. In a world where people are starved of social activity due to multiple reasons, it seems like common sense that games made to be social would be a big hit. That's what made games in the xbox 360 days so big. Halo 3's social features were and still are unbeatable.
But it's not just the game design causing a lack of social activity, it's the current mindset of gamers. Too many gamers care way too much about their K/D or W/L in games. Back in the H3 and MW2 days, yeah there were talks of those stats but it wasn't like how it is today. If you lost or got killed you might be a little mad or frustrated but it wasn't the ENTIRE point of playing back then. I don't get why so many people have turned into tryhards that sperg out when they lose. Like seemingly normal people will rage on game if they lose it's pretty weird. This makes it not as appealing to try to talk to other gamers because there's a much bigger chance nowadays that they're the type of person that will rage if they lose or call you bad for using the "wrong" gun etc. Like bro it's just a game, let's just chill and have some fun.

Together with disbanding lobbies i think one major reason is how everyone went over to not use the game chat like at all anymore. XBox & PS have parties, PC always had TeamSpeak and now with Discord it's even more accessible and no game forces you into game chat anymore.
Games that encouraged in game chat, like CS:GO for example, also disabled features like all chat in pre-match and it all got kinda lost.
Back in the day i just sat in MW2 lobbies and asked "who speaks my language?" and then just had a fun. Had quite some people a played a lot with again later on. Same for CS:GO.

Anyone who played MW2019 knows that during its peak 2019/2020 even lasting out to about 2021 2 years after its lifecycle, that every single SnD lobby you joined had trash talk and fun social lobbies. It was literally unmatched. Even now, with the low amount of players it has 5 years after release, MW2019 still has pretty fun lobbies to join. Playing these newer cods the lobbies are absolutely silent. I can count on fingers the fun lively lobbies I see on MW3.

It's especially bad in MMORPG's, where the whole point of the genre was to party up with others and go adventuring together. Now it's just do solo quest 'til max lvl, click matchmaking, do dungeon without saying a word and never talk those people ever again. They all feel so vapid, meaningless and pointless these days.

An aspect of why its like this now from my pov is that I just simply do not care to hear any of the bs from VOIP in most popular games anymore these days. It's why most of the time I just keep VOIP muted completely, especially on COD. And it's probably the same for a lot of players now.
I've played COD since COD 4 and the COD community in the "social" aspect has and hasn't changed at the same time, the toxicity of the community hasn't changed in terms of how much of it you encounter but the TYPE of toxicity HAS changed. It used to be a more nuanced "laugh it off after the match then say gg" type of trash talk (no one took it personal) that was usually within the game and competitive trash talk among it and sure there was some people wylin out to try to "one up" the person who trash talked them with some crazy stuff coming out of their mouths but you'd just ignore that guy or usually the WHOLE lobby would clown the guy who said it for crossing "that line". But now that element of the social aspect of the community for COD is just...gone. Or at least to me since I can't remember the last time I had a good trash talk and game with people, mainly because the lobby disbands after each game. Or maybe because the voice chat is AI moderated now and comm bans for the slightest "offences" so no one talks. 🙃
Most of the time when I've unmuted the game chat when I get the urge to in the last few years its either some mouth breather calling me a cheater, or just a bunch of racists being racists or a little kid saying things he shouldn't then acting grown when you ask him where his parents are and treat him like a "squeaker" or someone not even speaking my language with their controller mic open so we can hear their stomach growl. The whole thing just taints the experience of playing the game now instead of enhancing it with communication between teammates and some trash talk against enemies which could turn into mutual respect after a few matches and those enemies become friends down the line and yall end up playing together (usually how I made gaming buddies back in 2007 - 2015 for me). The only area of the game I guess you could make a case for still having that fun social aspect and wholesome encounters could be in some hardcore lobbies or maybe MWII DMZ or MWIII "DMZombies" but those modes get more stale than a thanksgiving conversation with an estranged family member. And don't get me wrong there are games out there where this whole social gaming thing still exists (like milsim games) but that's usually on PC specific games (no crossplay and harder to get access to) and usually niche games and most of the time specific servers/modded clients you have to find so it ends up being a very close knit community which usually brings hierarchy bs and drama bs or the game just dies or whatever reason, not a popular AAA FPS title where you can encounter strangers in the same boat as you in the game and almost always and have a high potential to have a wholesome/awesome experience through gaming together. Those moments are rare these days in gaming and y'know perhaps I've just aged out of todays way of being "social" in gaming whether it being maturity or having 0 tolerance for other peoples horrible energy.😔

Idk how to tell you this but even back then maybe even more so back then the n word was flung around more than noobs with noobtubes in mw2.
Honestly the simple truth is this: for anyone that grew up around that time a lot of us simply grew up and don’t care for the “social” aspect of games anymore. Especially when you realize that it’s probably a kid on the other end of the mic.
Then again there are some dudes that haven’t grown up and will say everything under the sun.
It’s not trash talk really, it’s just people being stupid on their mics. As a kid it was funny and entertaining but now it’s just sad.

    • @Jehmini
      @Jehmini 12 часов назад

@@lazlo686 Yeah there was definitely still as much of the "nono words" (gotta be PC so youtube doesnt delete my comment 🙃) but it wasnt registered as it is today it was what everyone was saying back then (r word, f word g word not talking about n word). Growing up and being more mature and selective of the energy I allow in my life (most days idgaf to chat shit anyways nowadays its a waste of energy unless its a mess around kinda shittalk) is definitely also another reason I myself just keep VOIP muted. And I think a decent majority of players might be the same, adding to the lower amount of people caring to be social in gaming these days. Just aint worth the effort cause mfs are weird these days.

That is the most well-put argument for both sides simultaneously! Yes, Discord makes communicating with others easier and less “restricted”, but at the same time, we’re missing out on those “unscripted” conversations we used to have in areas like the MW2 lobbies and I think that’s what’s messing people up nowadays - kids aren’t getting as much practice early-on with unscripted convos with truly random people.
I never did any talking with people in the lobbies because I was afraid people would relentlessly make fun of my kid voice, but that was my own fault. Looking back, that’s probably why I wasn’t nearly as good as other kids in the social department.

I think censorship and banning free speech ruined social gaming. Nowadays you can get banned from playing for being a real person with a sense of humour. In apex legends they added a feature that records peoples past minute of mic speech and you can report them that way what kinda narc shit is that. My closest friends on xbox to this day I snapped and gave them a barrage of abuse then we laughed about it cus it was hilarious and became good friends. The hey man hows your day going folks I never remembered.

I see it as three or four problems. One is companies are pushing cleaner game chats, so players that feel the trash talk is too much can report you and you're gone. Esp the new mw3 has AI bans ready. Some of these "wusses" aren't wrong though. Another problem is, trash talk has gotten more personal and harsh than it was. Which is SAYING SOMEWTHING. But too many ppl put too much stock of their self worth in gaming now. Esp streamers. Thats not a jab at streaming, but if you want viewers, you better be playing good. Or at least funny while playing. That might be their livelihood, so the stakes are higher. Therfore when you start losing you get alot angrier. A third issue, not necessarily a problem is like you said, Discord or private party chats. It actually goes into a MUCH BIGGER discussion about how the internet is split between 3 stages, The Dark Forest, The Cozy Web(discord and such is here), then Dark Web. But like, because bots are so regular in the open internet+ We have the opportunity to have private chats, we seclude ourselves to private hubs to speak with actual humans. And we dont venture out from those places. I feel like theres a 4th thing but idk atm.

Probably 99% of the reason CoD isn't social anymore in a lot of the newer games beyond maybe Black Ops 3 (I get some people chatting in my lobbies on that game) is because the lobbies disband after every match. There's no way now to stick with the lobby you just played against, you always get booted out and search for new players. It's been like that since CoD MW 2019, and has been a huge issue ever since then, along with SBMM. I also partly blame things like console party chats, where the chat audio in the lobby is muted if you're in a party, even if you're by yourself. Back in the day you either had no mic and heard what everyone was saying, muted everyone manually, or joined in with your own mic and enjoyed the social aspect of CoD. You were 'forced' in a sense to socialize with the older CoDs, and that's a huge aspect that made it amazing.

As someone who plays loads of MCC most of the chatty people in Custom Games Browser use text chat which I agree isn't the same as voice but it's something. Overall, yeah, nobody just chats up a storm and definitely Discords (private ones, public ones are almost all trash) are the go-to to play socially. It sucks, but I guess that's just how the culture's shifted
