      +BEASTfckingCOAST Not really a fair matchup in a control/control game. There is no brain required when a single thaurissan tick gives you 30+ damage depending on what's in your hand.

    My favorite card, ever. It kills freeze mages and either deals a bunch of damage, or fucks up other decks' curves. Also, 0:04 Skip the Kripp.

      @MrFufor 8 лет назад +2

      +TheRockdoo It doesn't do shit against fast decks or our loved facehunter (which is still the most played deck). The idea behind it is nice, but it just does not fit in the current meta imo.

      also in single player adventures ive never seen them play the curse. its op against them

    • @mrlarvux
      @mrlarvux 8 лет назад

      +Panda Panda It synergises very well with flood zoo. Let's say that you're playing against a midrange pally and you play the curse. You either gain board control (if he plays the curse), or you get those extra damages to face that makes you win. But it could suck against secret paladin considering it doesn't matter if a 2-drop is played or not, usually.

    I put it into a funky deck with a lot of spells for my Warlock, and I didn't hate it, but the one thing I noticed for sure is that it's basically a free win against Freeze Mages. You'll almost always get them down to their ice block pop range, and once that happens, it's lights out.

    one thing about curse of rafaam is that its quite poweful with loremaster cho. i dont remember how it came to be, but it ended up with curse of rafaam being in play with lorewalker cho. it counts as spell. so basically each hero lost 2 hp and 2 mana each turn, since it became a race for hitpoints. this was an interesting game to say the least.
    guess the lorewalker came out of shredder or something...

    it's good if you're significantly ahead on board. if your opponent wants to get control back he has to play on curve so he's going to take the extra damage. by playing that instead of a 2 drop you also play around board clears.

    ive been using this card in a face warlock deck. it's pretty cool since the deck is all about face damage and the curse messes up their mana curve as well. also, i basically never use it on turn 2/3 unless my hand is absolutely terrible, its mostly for the mid game when you already have some minions on the board.

  • @mefikFS

    Thank you if you read this Kripp and have a wonderful day.

  • @WufeiLord
    @WufeiLord 8 лет назад

    Honestly it'd be interesting if this turned into a 3 mana card, but on the 'Cursed!' card, it reads 'Give Curse of Rafaam to your opponent'. This would not only allow it to be reused, but also allow it to be used as a proxy counter to decks that summon big minions (or at least penalize them for playing those big minions) as well as defeating freeze mages.
    As far as damage goes it isn't efficient and since it only does face damage it wouldn't generate that much tempo, but it would function similarly to Headcrack as a situational source of consistent damage.
    What do you think?

  • @danielhakimi
    @danielhakimi 8 лет назад

    It's interesting in Zoo. I tried it with Stonesplitter Trogg, which is fine... And Zoo is capable of playing a bunch of hefty 1 drops and eggs and things to stay on the board and keep heaping on the damage. You can take ten damage by turn 6 if I can't do any other damage, but if I have charges and sticky shit and direct damage, that 10 damage counts for a whole hell of a lot.

    • @KHfanz
      @KHfanz 8 лет назад +7

      +lambojim64 yeah, kripps argument was pretty much "I've never used this card, but in arena the warlocks i facerolled used it so it's bad."

    • @Aspartem
      @Aspartem 8 лет назад +14

      +Zach Cooney No. His argument was: You lose tempo, due to lack of boardcontrol due to lack of minions played.
      This card uses a punisher mechanic. The punisher mechanic usually suxx, because your opponent always can choose the worst (from your perspective) option in any given situation. Takin' 2 dmg to the face but gaining board is a good deal.

  • @Syrange13
    @Syrange13 8 лет назад

    One thing you didn't mention is that you're actually giving your opponent a spell, that can be used t trigger things like violet teacher or flamewaker. Probably not a big deal, but it's something to consider.

  • @Cryft
    @Cryft 8 лет назад +1

    what if "Cursed!" cost 1 additional mana to play (i.e. remove) each turn? that way it at least maintains its tempo cost the longer you hold it, so that if you spend a whole turn 2 to cast it, it'll cost them a whole turn to remove it whenever they do?

    Curse of Rafaam reminds of a similar controversy in Magic the Gathering. Life gain is much reviled for exactly the same reason - it doesn't change the board state.
    Somewhat ironically, life gain in Hearthstone is considered perfectly strong while pure player burn damage is considered weak.

    • @mothgru
      @mothgru 8 лет назад

      +Lardo137 That might be because HS only has 30 health.

    • @Starcanum-
      @Starcanum- 8 лет назад +2

      +Lardo137
      Life gain in Hearthstone isn't considered strong at all. The only life gain cards that are played are either versatile with various extra effects (lay on hands, alexstrasza etc.), have good synergies (armor in warrior, ice block in mage, auchenai in priest etc.), meta-based (healbot is played most of the time 30 health isn't enough) or are decent on their own (tuskarr jouster). Reno turned out to be really good, but this is specifically because of all the aggro decks that run out of steam pretty fast and are fine-tuned to deal 40-50 damage within the first x turns of the game but don't pose much threat if the aggression is dealt with. Other healing cards are barely played even if their healing effect is OP (like healing wave etc.), they're considered decent but most of the time that's not enough to fit them into a deck.

    • @ben8929
      @ben8929 8 лет назад

      +ArcanumVader Healing wave is not played just because control shaman is not viable right now, but if I want to play a control shaman I will run healing wave over healbot any day.

    • @kpiwashalt
      @kpiwashalt 8 лет назад

      +Lardo137 Life gain in Hearthstone is strong only in two different scenarios :
      1. Against some kind of really fast aggro deck (e.g. Face Hunter): in this case life gain on your side is considered strong but player burn damage on the opponent's side is also considered strong as it is a direct race.
      2. As a control deck: in this case, every other deck is faster than yours, therefore the little time life gain can buy you may be game changing. Additionally, as a control deck you have fine-tuned means to regain board control, so losing it temporarily is no big problem.
      In Magic, the second case does not hold as there are to many ways to win without having board control. The first case is true in Magic as well, an aggro deck has much more problems with a Siege Rhino than with a Tasigur (although both are a problem as they are excellent blockers).

    i think the card is good in face warlock. the deck kinda works, mostly because dark peddler is such a strong card but curse is definitely an auto include in a face deck. i use voidcallers and doomguards as late game, rest is just pure aggro. also, i run wrathguards which have not been dissapointing

    I've played this card a lot in facelock. The card isn't optimal, but it's always fun fucking with someone's curve. Curse of Rafaam is good in early game for this reason, especially on turn 3 unless they have a good one drop. It would be viable if it did 3 damage maybe.

    I don't know how spell damage works if it even does or if you play it against counterspell lol but it isn't better than bluegill because you choose to get a 2/1 murloc or to give him a spell for 2 mana which he needs to get rid of

    I feel like Curse wants to be in a mill deck. Add a card in their hand to make cards like Oracle better, gets stuck there because their hand is cluttered with cards they would rather play.
    Problem is the likelihood of there ever being a Warlock mill deck of any worth is basically nill as long as their hero power draws cards.

    thought the card was useless before, like coldlight oracle in non mill decks just advancing the game or losing tempo if the other person doesnt use it instantly, but the spell dmg thing is awesome i like this card now

    Would be interesting if the card instead read "you opponent takes fatigue damage". You could play a fatigue warlock or something, maybe?

    So if your opponent has Malygos out and you play Curse of Rafaam+Loatheb, you can essentially deal 7 damage and lock up their entire turn unless they want to take 7 damage again next turn?

    New card does 10 damage to face at 2 cost. Kripp: not value because not a minion.

    It's a card that could be great in a mill Warlock. Warlock would need some more mill tools to do it well though.

    The Curse's main advantage over Bluegill is that it doesn't get taken out by the same cards that Bluegill does, like taunts or any sort of AoE. Bluegill's main advantages over the Curse is that it can be used against creatures and that it's a Murloc. Buffs aside, the idea of a body doesn't really apply here. A Curse in their hand in a continual source of damage until they get rid of it, just like a minion.

    It's actually closer to the Hunter hero power than Bluegill Warrior in a lot of ways.

    I wonder If this would be cool with lorewalker cho! because u would get more and more curses :P

    so you have an aunt and 3 other minions and to Mana crystals left over from playing the taunt would you or would you not curse of rafaam on that turn

    Ok so I know it's not so grate. I have been experimenting with Lore Walker Cho and this card. So the opponent gets 2 almost useless cards in hand and one deals 2 damage if he does not get rid of it. Problem is when they cast the 2 damage dealing one at me and I cast it back it does not deal damage to them.

    Should I craft two twilight guardians to play malylock and most dragon decks or save up for thalnos to add to my freeze mage and rogue decks?

    • @crapbag1968
      @crapbag1968 8 лет назад

      Depends on how much you like playing freeze mage and rogue decks vs how much you wanna play malylock and most dragon decks. I would probably prefer dragon decks, and it's also only half the dust, but that's because I'd rather play these decks.
