    One of your best video !
    I'm not flexible enough to be able to do the brazilian kick but I'm a "headteep" enthousiast so it's nice to see it broke down here :)

    The question mark kick is one of those techniques that I don't expect to ever be able to pull off, if for no other reason than lack of flexibility (same with a wheel kick.) But as to the second example, one possible way to minimize exposure (albeit a different setup) is with a paw-away kick. Using both your hands, you trap your opponent's hands and draw them down as you bend forward, then throw the kick. Admittedly easier said than done, but the bending forward definitely gives you an advantage as to how high the kick goes. The first time I tried it I threw the highest rear kick I had ever done up to that point!

    Feitosa and Saenchai are kicking in different way, Feitosa leg is going from up and saenchai from side which makes big differences, and feitosa is using lead leg and saenchai rear

    All this is pretty good. I do have a question about the last kick. You point out that you supporting leg is on the ball of the foot and that is how you generate more power. I can see this on a kick that will spin like roundhouse or spinning hook kick, but on a straight like kick like this one wouldn't it be better to have as much surface on the ground as possible? Now I see the advantage to increase the height of the kick. Doesn't it reduce the power just being on the ball of the foot?

    • @SchmidtyFilms
      @SchmidtyFilms 8 лет назад

      Yeah I would say to keep the back foot flat and even turn your foot out to explode with your glute into the kick

    First one is proper Karate high kick. You showed it again at 0:45 the same Karate fighter named Glaube Feitosa. That high kick is a Karate technique. They learn to throw in a particular way to land it heavy and knock opponent out.
    Saenchai can do a lookalike high kick. You ever saw him drop a guy with that kick? He doesn't kick those in a way there's enough weight behind it.
    And you kick it to copy Saenchai. Karate fighter lifts their knee or leg up to their hips which is higher, then drops it on them to land it heavy. Look at the difference. Saenchai's high kick goes upward, while Glaube's goes downward.

      *****
      Well yeah, it's a striking technique using the same exact human arms and legs. It can't be that different. Just saying it's a technique from different art. Similar but not the same. Gotta defend it differently too since it comes at different angle.

    I like the video, thanks, but I think the up-kick to the chin (ala Anderson Silva Vs Vitor Belfort) is more effective than a teap and is easier to hurt an opponent with it. With a teap kick, it's very hard to get any snap on it so most of the time it just knocks/pushes peoples heads back without stunning them, but with the up-kick, because it is travelling up more than forward, it is the extension of the bottom part of the leg that does most of the motion (much like when you use a leg extension machine at the gym, it's the same motion, or like a backfist where arm is bent at a 45 degree angle and you flick your arm out straight to backfirst...not that anyone throws that technique, haha!). The upkick seems to get more snap, and of course the head cannot extend upwards to absorb the shot (unlike the front kick to the face where the head can go backwards to absorb the shot). It's more of a Karate technique, but it's effective, and I don't see it used in kickboxing or Muaythai. It's good for tight guards too as it sneaks right up underneath and between the guard like an uppercut.

    This kick was called the brazilian kick way before Glaube Feitosa. It was known as the Brazilian kick even before Francisco Filho. The kick in itself is included in many martial arts including Muay Thai. But don't call it a Muay Thai kick when used by a Kyokushin fighter in a k-1 setting. That's like calling it a karate kick when used by a Nak Muay at Lumpinee stadium.

    • @kyokushinavocadosoup3595
      @kyokushinavocadosoup3595 8 лет назад

      exactly...its not a muay thai kick though it may be usefull in a muay thai match

    • @DeathWithinTenSteps
      @DeathWithinTenSteps 8 лет назад +2

      +KyokushinAvocado Soup
      Actually the kick is described in Muay Boran. So when Saenchai does it, it's a Muay Thai kick. But when Glaube does it, it is a Kyokushin kick. There is of course minute differences in execution. But it's basically "same same but different."
      Peace, love and respect!
      Osu!

    • @dbed727
      @dbed727 6 лет назад

      Good video just please talk about the baiting more. If you cant bait it, you cant make it sometimes. 2nd head kick you have to bait it with an overhand right bc if not your gonna get kneed. They have to be aware that when your head dips or shoulder roll low they think their face is gonna get smashed so when you throw it the delayed hit and his block will equal a perfect set up.
