I don't know if calling it a striking martial art is fair. It does have lots of grappling
Either way, i'd say that what makes Muay Thai great is not really it's techniques but the way it's taught/trained. Yes, their techniques are fire, but they are also present in other arts and yet Muay Thai people tend to be the best at them

The united states military is using technology and manpower to protect deviant sadistic Child SAers that are misusing their access to advanced tools to spy on, harass, and forcibly SA children. This sometimes follows them into adulthood. Children that are still too young to know that what they are seeing is not normal are being exposed to disgusting deviant content that is forcibly shown to them by hacking their devices. Many victims may not even know they have been targeted by this, because the majority of the actual SA happens when they are slipped something that incapacitates them or they are asleep, the only reason they might know is because the perpetrator may leave behind physical evidence, like bruises, scratches, or bodily fluids. If a victim discovers what has happened to them these worms will misuse equipment and manpower to stalk, shame, mock, and generally try to make the lives of the people affected by this as hellish as possible both offline and online. They follow victims in person and try to intimidate or harass them. They generally use different people who act as though they aren't affiliated with each other and don't do anything they can be arrested for at the time of the harassment. They think they can shame and mock their victims into silence because some of what happens is coerced. These are depraved cowards that gather in groups to harass solitary women and children just to protect deviant SAers. They harass the victims to try to instigate a violent reaction that they can be locked up for. This is a strategy they have used for decades against enemies in different contexts, only the child SAers use it to try to get rid of victims using advanced military technology like weaponized AI

In this match Rodtang should have won, because every punch he hit was on target in Superlek's face, whereas Superlek only showed energy and movements that seemed wild but were only tricks and not on target. The Superlek game, like a chicken that is gasping for air, doesn't look like a real fighter, likes to hug the rodtang and hold the rodtang's elbows, that's just a style technique. The judges have made a mistake in deciding the winner in this match. The judge deserves to be fired because he is incompetent, after all, he is not good at scoring, the judges cannot see the side of martial arts and punches that are on target, that's serious, just fire him, that's a shame. Superlek should be embarrassed to win, and the judges should be embarrassed to give victory to someone who is only good at tricks and looks like a beast, but is not on target hahahaha

Here’s the biggest thing that a lot of people seem to be missing:
This is Muay Thai in Thailand. The Thais have a completely different scoring criteria.
Punches mean absolutely nothing in Muay Thai (unless you KO your opponent with a punch). It’s all about the clinch, knees, kicks, and elbows. Yes Rodtang cut Superlek open, but Superlek didn’t show that he was visibly hurt (unlike in America, they will not stop fights due to cuts). Superlek also landed more solid kicks, and more knees in the clinch (both of which score extremely high), and was able to shut down a lot of Rodtangs punches by hand fighting. Not to mention Superlek had that big knockdown in round 2 (for those arguing against it: the rules say that if contact is made, and a fighter goes down, it’s a knockdown. Doesn’t matter if the fighter is hurt or not), so Rodtang would’ve had to have a HUGE 3rd round, just to make it even. Which he did not.
The one thing Rodtang did better than Superlek was constant forward motion. So I would’ve loved to see a 5 rounder. Such an incredible fight nonetheless.

What the other guy said about the scoring was correct. In MT rules, kicks and knees are worth more than punches, as well as how clean the technique looked. I would say Superlek scored more kicks in the first round, which probably gave him the edge. Funny enough though, I asked a ref in Thailand once, and he said judges look at the fight as a whole, rather than round by round. You can have quite a few interesting decisions that way. It’s extremely rare for him to be out of range for whatever he throws. He’s incredibly good at knowing his range and mirroring his opponent’s movement if his opponent steps back he moves forward or vice versa while the opponent moves forward. For anyone that trains a striking art will tell you how hard it is to learn your reach of your legs and hands.

what makes distancing so hard to me is that 1. you have to have an almost robotic muscle memory with your technique to be able to land it everytime with precisely the same distance, and 2. you can only "sense" the distance, there is nothing more than your depth perspective telling you how far your target is. you can extend your arm to kinda "rule" the distance but it is not exact. throw into the mix the fact that most of people outside of professional athletes will train the majority of time with heavy bags and pads, always on static targets, and we end up training the least one of the hardest things to master

100% agree. I watched it live and thought it could have gone either way. Just watched it again for the third time and I clearly see Superlek winning 2-1. He displayed a superior skill set and landed more, especially with the kicks and knees. Rodtang just did more visible damage to the face. All the blood makes people think Rodtang won round 1 it but it was just one good elbow in a place that bleeds a lot. Superlek landed way more and generally dominated the round. I also think he edged the second round, and that's not even taking the knockdown into account (which was debatable but acceptable). Third round was actually closer than I previously thought. Seemed like Rodtang easily took it with the pressure and aggression but when you watch closely you see Superlek landed a lot too. Only reason I give it to Rodtang is because he had more in the tank (pun intended).
