If anyones wondering if this works with non-dairy “butter” (the baking stick kind) it worked great but I had to add some more oats to get it to the consistency in the video - ymmv, I think that might have been down to my oats. Dead easy recipe and delicious results, thanks!
Not keen on the butter and sugar - I make my own 'powerbars' using oats, dates, cocoa and agave nectar, finely chop everything together in a mixer and add a little warm waterwater for consistency, mix well, press into a lined tin and pop in the fridge, cut into slices, wrap and take on a ride :-)
Love your recipe. I was also quite disappointed with the unhealthy nature of this episode. Unless GTN feels otherwise, skeptical of any potential benefits compared to some healthier alternatives they've featured in the past.
I think my flapjack recipe is an identical ratio. I sometimes stir in some finely chopped glacé cherries for flavour and if I ever remember to buy some, some almonds. Biggest problem is preventing my girlfriend from eating half of my stash before I actually get out on the bike with them.
I have been making something similar and I just wrap mine in foil and carry them in my cycling jersey pocket or my nathans handheld running water bottle.
@@markwilson4535 Agave nectar is even worse because it contains 85% of fructose. Human body can't use fructose directly for energy production and almost 100% of it is converted to fat in liver. Fructose triggers insuline release which blocks fat burning and this fat is stored in adipose tissues. Simply put it makes you fat.
@@gtn Oh gosh no, the video was perfectly fine, and I had no problem with the recipe! I was joking that it’s not what I expected because in America, a “flapjack” is a pancake. Great content, and keep up the awesome work!
What do you eat on race day? Let us know!
Dried figs and dates.

Hello dear GTN Team, many thanks for the recipe. I would add some salt, just a bit, to cut the "flat" taste from the oats.

This looks like one of those recipes with a million possibilities!
Absolutely!
Add some peanut powder and hot choc to the mix for a kind of Reece’s pieces taste. 😋
👍more recipes please. Loved this
I always try and pack flapjack when out for a long ride. I must start making them though! This reminds me how easy it is.
I wish my kitchen was that clean :D
Great bars! Help us with storage and packing to rides, please.
More videos like this, please! 😁
Did the flapjacks make it to the bike ride 😉 Looking at them just makes you want to eat them at the spot 😋
How do you wrap them up for riding?

Carbon bikes, Carbonated Drinks, and Carbo-Hydrates. Hmm!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Think you got to make them.
Wish you did the video in Nigela Lawson style 🤣
Tipp: add cinnamon
Isn't that just an Anzac biscuit?

125 g of sugar. Very healthy. 🤔
Agree - not keen! See my alternative recipe above :-)

@@inz_uzi Also sometimes use honey - have seen varying reports about agave - depending on source or process?
As an American, this was a very confusing episode for me. :P
Apologies, we do try to make them as easy to follow as possible, we'll try harder in the future!
