Thanks for the honest review~! 🙏 I've never really played Witcher myself, but my BF is a big fan. Reaper is moreso inspired by another videogame series I'm sure you know-- Dark Souls. Hence the soul eating. I definitely agree that the contrast needs to improve. It's something that I've struggled with for a long time, and even more with Reaper book 1 because this is the first time I've ever used screentones. And as you can tell, I'm not experienced with them. But as rough as the backgrounds are, I'm still proud when comparing them to that last comic I did-- Horizon Quest, where the backgrounds were VERY rough and mostly nonexistent. I think my art will level up even more in the next book as I study new techniques. 💪 I feel bad that you didn't like Ichabod, but I can understand why. The start to his story is in a lot of ways a low point in his life-- He failed to fulfill his revenge, he gave up on his dream, he wants to financially help the person who took him in but his help gets refused... Part of why he's become a Reaper and sold souls all this time, despite knowing it's wrong, is because he's given up hope. Sometimes I feel worried I might become something like that. And I'd like to take that persona and punch them in the face, yelling "SNAP OUT OF IT YOU DOOMER". xD That's what I use Ichabod for. Cause he IS wrong when he thinks there's no hope. But of course, the story is far from over. And as we head into book 2, he's going to meet other friends to adventure with, so luckily he won't be a loner for long. I only read Berserk after finishing Reaper, but I do wonder if a flash-forward would've been a better way to start the series, like how Berserk did it. I'll also do my best to explain things more thoroughly moving forward. I get a little insecure with explanations cause I want to avoid "lore dumping". But there are definitely a few things that need to be clear. 😤
Yeah bro. Tite Kubo is my favorite among the 3 pillars of the shonen Old guard of the 2000's. You "feel" bleach when you read it. I hate how some people have regard it as an honorable mention to Naruto and One Piece. It was at the same table eating the same big meal.
@dannphann The cover not going to the edge - images like that should be "full bleed" the image will go 3-5mm PAST the cut edge. I have a video or so on it, but feel free to HMU next time you prep a book if you're not sure!
@@dark_nightwing_xl2797yea. Im crazy about indie books. I’ve been collecting them for about 15 years. To me they’re better (sometimes). Indie creators take more chances and experiment with storytelling. Regular industry books follow too much of the same pattern and gets boring.
