🚄 INFORMATION KEY
Train Numbers - e.g. 43032 or 800110 - These are train numbers which are specific to that train. No trains can be numbered the same. Locos are 5 digit numbers where the first two numbers are the class of train e.g. 67010 would be a class 67. Multiple Units are 6 digit numbers where the first three numbers are the class of train e.g. 390154 would be a class 390. Click Here to learn more
➤ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOPS#TO...
Headcodes - e.g. 1F32 or 5M00 - These are used by the railway signallers to determine where trains are on the network. Every train within a region has a specific four code ID. Click Here to learn more
➤ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Train_r...
Set Number - e.g. WB64 or NL04 - These are semi-permanent loco hauled coach formations which are kept together for formalities. The first two letters usually indicate the maintenance depot responsible e.g. OC is Old Oak Common, LA is Laira. The number indicates the rake number.
Loop Services - e.g. Hounslow Loop ACW - This is where services travel around a loop of stations beginning and ending at the same station. CW = Clockwise, ACW = Anti-Clockwise.

Hello everyone, I’m StarlifeStudios and my passion is to experience and video railway stations across the United Kingdom at both small and large locations, but, with an informative twist! My videos are also designed as a historical reference for the days of the past and to reminisce about the way things were. I love trains and i found a great channel to watch them on! Btw love the vid
Hello! Its good to have you on board. This video was really fun to record. Waterloo is always full on and there was hardly any time spent standing around. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it. 😃
@@StarlifeStudios i like trains and i like you looking at them and know where they are going
Absolutley stunnign variety from London Waterloo. South Western Railway no matter what the odds are doing a mega job at London's busiest terminal station :-)
I couldn't agree more! South Western is very underappreciated, even without the 442s, it has some very good variation!
I love these high quality videos with very smoothly taken shots from the best of locations. I am grateful that you then take the time to record each units number, destination, and even whether the train is on time. This post-production effort must take a considerable amount of time and effort so I salute you, Sir, for your commensurate professionalism and art.
Thank you very much Adv0cate! As you said, I take a lot of time to make sure that the content I create is perfect. The accuracy of information is something I take very seriously since in the future it will be used as a historic reference. I can honestly say that if it wasn't for the amazing support people like yourself and others give me, I would never have the motivation to go out in the cold! 😃
Even after two years of this upload, this was a great 'mega' collection of SWML services you captured there all in one video! It was a joy to watch of course! :)
Thanks so much Explosionz! The irony about this video is that it was actually one of the last times that SWR would run maximum length trains. The 456s are gone and most of the 450s are 8 coach trains. This video will certainly remain one of my favourites not least because of the great rolling stock variety. Many thanks for watching as well, it’s a pleasure to provide you with entertaining content 😃
What a fantastic Station London Waterloo is enjoyed every minute of it thank you
You have really captured the spirit of Waterloo here..a great video 😎👍🏽🎉🎉 It is Britain’s official busiest station with over 90 million passengers a year in normal times 😦 A signal or points failure here or Clapham Junction quickly sends services into meltdown 👍🏽
Thanks EJC! I love Waterloo, it’s a place I have done a lot of work on in the last 4 years with the suburban platform extensions and international platforms. I’ve never really spent a long amount of time in this area but but I bet your right about the signal failures! I also wouldn’t expect 90Million this year.
@@StarlifeStudios yes its in excess of 90 million passengers a year 😦👍🏽 keep up the great video work, they are fantastic to watch 😎👍🏽
I love ❤️ your channel keep it up. It always brightens my mood when I watch you👍
So the UK's busiest station, south of the river Thames, close to many amenities including the London Eye. I went to Weymouth on a railtour in 2017. It actually went to Yeovil before heading to the Dorset coast and back to the capital. Slam door trains used to dominate this line, long gone since 2005 and also the expresses, they had a revival to Portsmouth before the operator ceased them. Waterloo of course became the first London terminal to gain access to Europe, now St Pancras has the mantle. I must not mention Waterloo East nearby, trains to and from Charing Cross towards south east London, Kent and parts of Sussex.
Hey guys! Thanks for watching. This is the longest video I have uploaded/edited to date and I couldn’t have done it without the amazing support you all give me. Be sure to like and share the video with a friend if you really want to see this video take off. Thanks 😃
Number one fan, loVe’d every moment of this amazing video. Thank you
London Waterloo deserves 42 mins. The South Western Mainline is one of the best in the UK, if not the world. Please for a video film at Ashford (Surrey) or Staines next
I’ll put those on the list for a visit after the lockdown has ended. I’d love to visit some of the HS1 spots as well for some real UK speed. Thanks for the suggestions :)
@@StarlifeStudios obviously wouldn't expect you to film them during the current lockdown. Ashford you get the 458s going to and from Reading which don't stop there and if you go there on a diversion weekend, you get even more trains passing by
If this is the longest time then please make a longer one
Excellent vid, found the TD's (Head-codes) and the train class Id's very useful thanks!
#SouthWesternRailway with a attitude,! Very refreshing indeed. ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ 🌟 💫
Great railway video as always mate, got a good view at Waterloo station.
Thanks Imperialist. I’ve been to Waterloo many times and there are many good spots although all of them get blocked at some point because it’s just so busy!
Another brilliant video! I really enjoyed this :)
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your feedback Trainspotter11 :D
Great video thank you
Amazing view point to capture the red and blue faces!! The old Waterloo International station point,! Just to your right.
Thanks as always Duaine! I tried to find a spot where I got also get all the International Terminal trains but P19 was the best I could do. There are some interesting combinations in this video and plenty of variety (for now)
@@StarlifeStudios Every view point you chose & camera angle is always on point in opinion. Great video as always.
Great Rush Hour trains at London Waterloo. Keep it up 👏👍👍👏.
Thank You Arnold. Waterloo is always busy even outside of rush hour. You won’t believe the amount of SWR staff that came up to me to ask what I was doing!
@@StarlifeStudios yes indeed that was. Can you do trains at Grays on my local
I’m hoping to pick up the C2C lines this year starting with Pitsea and Limehouse
@@StarlifeStudios yea I filmed the new c2c 387s on my channel well they not new now haha.
Nice video, friend! Keep it up! :)
Buen video, saludos desde Argentina !
My favourite station nice
I like London Waterloo, always active and busy 😃
Great vid
Thanks Sam 😃
How do you know where the Waterloo bound trains are coming from?
@Confused Carrot Hello both, I use Real Time Trains to figure it all out.
Is it just me or does he just have the most hyped up intro
My apologies! My newer intro is not quite as hyped 😃
I love this video so much.wait hang on,is this the busiest station in europe? YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video
Thanks Nathan! Waterloo is on your spotting patch!
Nice vid
2:47 I was working that set
Hi Callum, are you talking about 1A45? It’s hard to keep up with it all!
Yeah that’s the one
@@callumradford3680 Were you working anything on 24/04/2021?
Cracking. Immediate thoughts -
- How are your arms? Some of those takes are so long I’m surprised they didn’t fall off! 🤣
- The level of detail is amazing again. Did you just review all the unit numbers at the end or did you get them afterwards by other means?
- Did you need a platform ticket beforehand for access?
Again, superb upload and always look forward to watching your stuff. Some of the best footage/channel graphics out there!
I know! My arms were killing me by the end of it. Every time it went quiet another train would pull out of the station. Bit of both, Raynes park earlier in the day helped to get most of the numbers but my companion (hehe) helped to get a lot of the numbers whilst I was focused on the video. It took me so long to edit and check this video!!!! For access, I asked the NR staff and they were happy to let me through the barriers. Thanks for your kind comments, I’ve noticed your videos are gaining some traction (pun intended) as well, I hope we can both thrive in 2021! 😃
@@StarlifeStudios Ah I see! My other half films with me sometimes too - just started filming more trains with speed which makes it harder to spot the numbers, so think I need to train her up 🤣 Thanks for your kind words pal, not even a month old yet but lots in the pipeline, can’t wait for next year!
A second person helps a lot. If your doing speed, I recommend getting an ICRS Combined Book and then making a note of coach numbers even if it’s just the last 3 numbers, you should be able to work it out. 👍🏻 Should be able to get live-streaming in the new year as well which should be fun 😃
Awesome video. I find it hard to film at SWR stations as they always ask what you are doing. I was at Richmond the other day, I had to wait for half an hour for the next Overground train, so I started filming, but the man came over and asked me where I was going and to stop filming :(
Hello, generally speaking SWR staff are always on their guard for people acting suspiciously. I had to sign in with NR to film this but that didn’t stop them coming up to me and asking what I was doing. I also suppose that it doesn’t help the country is now back in threat level severe. My experience has also taught me that smaller stations tend to be worse than bigger ones for that!
@@StarlifeStudios true, Richmond is very small, the sad thing is that we are pursuing an innocent hobby and they don’t trust us :(
it is a good video.
Nice one
Thanks for watching Z3ficcial!
Nice video
Thank You Craigy 😃
Beautiful made video. Quality is bang on and the headings are beautiful placed. Thanks for the knowledge on my Facebook post.
Thanks Purple! I’m glad you enjoyed 😃
@@StarlifeStudios yh I picked this video first because my father lived in Twickenham and in the summer holidays I would watch the trains from the platform you was at the beginning. Eurostar used to run under the blue canopy as you probably already know, so I couldn't watch them. I would also walk over to the river themes and see trains come over river into the station tut over side.
Thanks for sharing Purple, south western is completely off my area but it’s nice to see some different trains every so often 😃 I hope to go back to SWR more once some 701s enter service.
I love London trains
A RUclips Poll I did earlier this year showed that most of my viewers do! I’m hoping to continue this in 2021!
The best railway network in the entire country. Spot on 💫
These videos are so addictive!
can you maybe make a new video from the inside if that make sense like from the buffers
Flange galore! 😃
You know it! I love Waterloo, there is so much character but it would of had more if the 4CIGs, 4CEPs, 4VEPs and Plastic Pigs were still around!!
How did u know about the train code and their early and lateness?
Hello, I use a mixture of Realtime Trains and Traksy for my information. Realtime Trains is really great for forward planning and Traksy is great to observe whilst your there. Hope this helps. traksy.uk/live
How good is the SWML? Is it clean, does it have nice trains, do they need refurbishement? Great video as always! Have a nice day!
I like the SWML, the stock is generally pretty clean with wide a wide range of trains (for now). Most of the exterior of the trains are unchanged from SWT but some have new interiors. Have a nice day too!
Pretty slow on the exterior repaint, would make more sense when the 701s are rolled out fully to repaint 444 and 450s, whilst those are out of service use the 458s in there place until they can find a new home hopefully.
@@samcourteneyofficial2469 458s are staying pal. gonna be refurbished and put back to 4 coach sets to run on the PDL
There is rather a good spot at worting junc (after Basingstoke). It would take a little planning. But There is plenty to film
Not a single mention of a Poole / Bournemouth /Weymouth Service/ on this video
Why where there not many Portsmouth Harbour to London Waterloo trains
Hi Fiona, this was filmed during the period where the COVID timetable was still lingering around so some extreme ends of the SWR route did not get a very frequent service (Weymouth is another example) Hope this helps and thanks for watching 😃
Do you know what time the weybridge 450 arrived at waterloo?
450098 and 450026 arrived at Waterloo at 1557.
Do Preston and Lancaster and London Euston
Btw I once train spotted at farncombe it was 👍
I missed you by three hours 🤣

Destro vs Destro city. Who will win?
Class 456 R.I.P
Can you make trains at Guilford please
The Deserio's traction motor sound is so satisfying to listen to.
Where the 444 class
r.i.p swr class 456/0
you have a nice camera what is ?
Hello! I use a Panasonic HC-VX1 for my filming.
@@StarlifeStudios nice one bro
Class 456 now not in use anymore😢
I'm afraid not! They should have been kept in my opinion, would have made great 313 replacements in pairs.
I agree
Where's the London to reading train and reading to London they were south west trains and they were running
Do trains at bures
From early next year. The Class 701 “Arterio” Aventra units will be in service operating to & from London Waterloo to Reading and Windsor & Eton Riverside and to operate on the suburban services. Including Chessington South, Weybridge, Strawberry Hill, Hampton Court, Shepperton, Guildford and Woking.
Plus with the Class 707s to be cascaded to Southeastern. And the Class 455, Class 456 and Class 458 to be scrapped. Unless the Class 458s might be cascaded to Southern to replace the Class 455 and Class 313.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_458
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_701
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_707
My other suggestion would be for South Western Railway should retain the Class 458s and to operate them to Alton and Aldershot (working alongside with the Class 450). And good to see the Class 442s in service.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_442
This is one of the reasons I decided to film this video this year. Potentially, long term we could see a severely reduced stock variation on SWR. However, in the short term, there will be more whilst they are being phased in! Personally, I would have liked to see the 458s stay but they are a small fleet in a big train operator so they were always likely to be removed when a huge order was placed..
@@StarlifeStudios I totally agree. Sad to see the Class 458s going for scrap. And even the Class 455 & Class 456 so to be sent for scrap. And maybe some of the Class 455s could go to Southern.
Why are the 458’s going for scrap they’re not even that old!
@@seanharling4990 yea, they should go to Southern
The only SWT livery I liked was the 450 and 444
The 458 has the same livery as 450 so u must like that as well surely.
Imagine if Eurostar was still there😒
Imagine.
Trains at stepford central
Waterloo is too busy lol
Nooooo! We need more trains, more!!!
15:36 how dare they graffiti on that poor 450 :(
Make more videos!
Plenty more on the way! New videos are currently uploaded weekly on Sundays at 12:00 GMT! ⭐️
WOW 9 MINUTES LATE
In the Weybridge video, a train from woking-waterloo was 15 minutes late
Are you not interested in reading to London and back
Hi Ian, Reading bound trains almost always leave from the Waterloo International platforms Platforms 21-24 and these do not have a good point to film from. I will be filming at Clapham Junction soon and that will include Reading trains. Thanks.
s w r is good
